I could describe this deck as one of my MYSTERY DECKS, because it is a deck I know very little about.
It is presumably an advertising deck by the Dutch insurance company Nationale Nederlanden.
All Courts are decorated with very elaborate and colourful artwork, and in true Dutch style so are the Aces.
The characters depicted seem to be actual famous Historical characters. King of © is Henry VIII, and King of ¨ is possibly William of Orange.
According to traditional Playing Card style Courts are holding accoutrements, and these are co-ordinated by suit: ª holding fruits, § holding flowers, © holding birds & ¨ holding mammals.
