The Parish of Prestbury

The Commissioning of the Parish for Local Ministry

Sunday 5 March 2000

We welcomed Bishop John as President at both our Eucharists this morning.  During the services he commissioned us for Local Ministry.  This followed a great deal of prayer, thought and preparation, and marked the beginning of a new phase in the life of our parish.

We believe in the importance of lay and ordained people working together as a sign of ministry to which the whole people of God is called through baptism.

This morning we renewed that commitment individually and as a congregation and pledged our support for those we have chosen to train in the Local Ministry Scheme.  We were here with our Bishop to re-affirm our Christian discipleship, to undertake to work together in God's kingdom, to encourage and to pray for one another in our community.
