First Friday of May (4th), a bit of fun on the famous Brighton Beach, bring your warez and an open mind. Proteus has been out of the scene for a while but has decided that it's time for another meet, whereas Vortex is just too lazy to organise one on his own. We're meeting at the same place as the original meets, the top corner of the Churchill Square outside bit (opposite Starbucks in Western Road). Congregate around the Dixons front window. From there it's off to the pub or Pizza Hut or something and a chance to chat about h/p related stuff (hacking, phreaking, UNIX, BBS', coding, warez, who's dropping whose docs on IRC, etc... heh). No scheduled "talks" or anything organised like that (no responsibility is taken for "improvised" security talks after four or five pints though ;) ) [Due to lack of organisational skills or initiative, suggestions regarding exactly what we're going to do once we've done the pub/beach thing are more than welcome -Pro.] Come along whatever your "skillz" - whether you're a warez kiddie or a bearded UNIX guru it doesn't matter too much, leave the "2 3l33t 4 j00" attitudes at home though... . Road Access: Signposted from London. Locally you'd be best off parking in one of the multi-storeys just off the seafront road, Western Road is off-limits to cars with limited (ie. no) parking that close to it. There is parking behind Churchill Square, but not recommended unless you know the area. (http://web.ukonline.co.uk/proteus/roads.gif) Rail: Brighton Station is about quarter of a mile from the meeting point, it's a major station so you should be able to get a train in from anywhere in the UK. London<->Brighton is about fifteen quid return. (http://web.ukonline.co.uk/proteus/trains.gif for trains info) Bus: National Express from all over the UK to the seafront (approx half a a mile from meeting point). Local buses run as far out as Newhaven and Eastbourne, a quid flat rate on Brighton & Hove Bus Company. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/proteus/maps.htm has scans of streetmaps with the meet location marked out, once you get to Brighton itself. Check the website just in case there are any last minute changes/updates etc. Mail: proteus@ukonline.co.uk for Proteus vortex@caffeine.org.uk for Vortex On the night, call Vortex on 07713 290307 if you get lost/show up late... See you all there, Proteus and Vortex :) PS. If you don't know what a 2600 meet is, http://www.2600.com/meetings/ :)
