Evicted an old lady from phone box
I developed a hatred of phones in those Northern Premier League days that I find hard to conquer even now. Once, at Southport, the telephones had been cut off because the club hadn't paid their bill, and as each deadline approached, I had to sprint up the road and forcibly evict an old lady from a phone box as she spent the afternoon trying to talk to her son in Grimsby. Four times this happened and each time the gate man made me pay to get back into the ground.
