Chad
|
Chad is a country of just over 7 million people with
its northern region in the Sahara desert and its southern areas made up of
rich forests that sustain a natural habitat for wildlife. The elected President maintains a fragile democracy
that operates under a secular constitution guaranteeing human rights and
freedom of religion. The
religious make up of the country shows 45% adhere to Islam, 20% follow
Traditional African religious practices with 35% being Christian including
24% Roman Catholic. The evangelical church is strongest in the south with
little attempt until recent years to take the Gospel to their northern
Muslim neighbours. In response to God’s leading, QIF has accepted the
challenge to send missionaries to serve in Chad in partnership with the
Evangelical Church of Chad. Of
the 180 people groups in the country 120 are classified as unreached ie
having no access to the Gospel. The door is wide open at the moment for us to put
together a team of people with a heart for God and a desire to share His
love in this needy land. Both
practical and professional skills can be used as the basis for innovative
and effective ways of sharing one’s faith.
A willingness to learn French is essential and patience and
perseverance will be required for ministry there. For more information or informal chat contact the General Secretary at the address overleaf. Jesus said ‘Go’ – have we the right to say ‘No’. Team
up with QIF Chad We are drawing together a team of men and women called of God highly motivated, well qualified servants to witness to God’s love in practical ways among some of the 120 unreached people groups in Chad. This venture of faith requires dedication, commitment and perseverance but yields great rewards. Long – medium service.
