Our
story unfolds as we take a leisurely drive (anti-clockwise) to the North
and West of the island. With plenty of stops to look for flowers, birds,
seals and spectacular island views and with time to learn something of
man’s continuous settlement from five thousand years ago, to the
thriving community of today. However, since Rousay boasts more than 160
archaeological sites, some selection is necessary.

| Option 1 | ||||
The Westness walk is approximately one mile, but with so much to see and allowing time for a picnic lunch* on average 2 hours will be needed. We will meet up again at Westness to continue visiting Yarso, Blackhammar and Taversoe Tuick. You will arrive back at the pier with time to visit the Restaurant, Craft Shop and or Trumland Orientation Centre (free admission) before catching the ferry. *Picnic Lunches must be booked in advance. |

Option 2 | |
For
non walkers or those needing to catch an earlier ferry. Having dropped
the walkers at Midhowe, our tour continues according to your choices.
Perhaps a lunch at the Taversoe hotel or restaurant and seeing one or two of the
more accessible archaeological sites. |
