HAMAM THE TURKISH BATH
Shah Jahani Hamam is situated to the west side of the fort, built in luxurious Turtish style. It was founded by Shahajahan in the 17th century. It consists of three rooms, out of which one of the main rooms is full of Turkish attractions. The roof is dome style. Inside the dome is hand painted which when looked on from afar visualises Honey Comb. The colours have kept over the years, which is why it is still considered an attraction even today. The floor is made of marble. The centre piece is a fountain. The fountain is considered a work of art as it is fed through a single stone, rather than a set of stones around the fountain. The walls contain a set of clay pipes. Water is fed through the pipes to the South-East wall, on which there is a painting which appears to be a fishskin. As water falls it gives the impression of the fish swimming in the water and finally feeds the fountain. The next room had two water fountains. Space was made around the fountain to allow royalty to come down and paddle in the waters. The sitting stones are very comfortable. All around there were grooves toa allow the water to flow. On the west side there were two clay ovens to provide hot and cold water for the baths.
This Site is managed by the Historical Trust Department, where they have now also built Tourist Gardens.
