Artists must give some thought to the style of plinth the sculpture will stand on, and should include some illustration of this within the drawings submitted.  The cost of the plinth is to be included.

The Site

The sculpture will be sited within Higginson Park, located in the centre of Marlow at the south end of the High Street. The park's southern boundary is marked by the River Thames, where close by on the south side of the river, is Marlow Rowing Club.  Court Garden House stands within the Park and houses The Redgrave Room, a meeting room dedicated to Steve Redgrave after winning his 4th Olympic Gold Medal. Higginson Park is owned and managed by Marlow Town Council.
Within Higginson Park, close to the proposed site for the sculpture is Marlow's new Millennium Maze - a multi-coloured brick path, with decorative mosaics portraying images of the history and heritage of Marlow. Laid in the grass and covering an area of approx. 22m diameter, it was designed by Adrian Fisher.

Artwork Location

The preferred site for the artwork within Higginson Park is on the grass bank directly outside the entrance to Court Garden House, facing the River Thames.

The artwork must be durable, robust and able to withstand all weather conditions.
Thought must be given to minimise opportunities for vandalism and criminal activity.
Thought must be given to the future maintenance of the work, which should be kept to a minimum.
The work should be able to be insured against public liability, and have a lifespan of at least 25 years.
