Do you: Shop for a neighbour?

Look after a relative?

Do you check on your elderly neighbour?

Did you know that in RCT there are over 32,000 carers? The Rhondda has a high rate of long term illness related to an ageing population and high levels of poverty.

The Carer

A carer is anyone who looks after someone with a disability or illness. The majority of carers in RCT are in the 45-65 age group with 60% of carers being female and 40% being male. Carers are not just professionals who provide specialist medical care or social services but ordinary people like yourself. The amount of help and support carers provide varies enormously, it may include doing the shopping for a neighbour, or even looking after a terminally ill family member. Whatever you do there are groups to help you overcome any difficulties you may have.
