At the time I was in Jodhpur, the wedding season was almost over. I was lucky to catch a glimpse of this wedding party just leaving: I assume the bride was leaving her home to take up residence with her husband, possibly some time after the wedding ceremony itself. The women of the household gather round the car (traditionally a palanquin) to sing traditional wedding songs.

Wedding processions, especially that of the bridegroom to the bride's house for the ceremony (barat), are often accompanied by loud music played by brass band. These band wagons, parked in a long line at the roadside at the end of the season, provide amplification so that a singer and instruments such as a keyboard can also take part, performing favourite hits from the latest films. The goat asleep under the rightmost band wagon lends an air of fin de saison to the scene.
