In April 1996, I took a salaried (36,000 GBP) position with a title of 'Operations Manager', being responsible for tech support and keeping the infrastructure going - Incoming telephones to Ascend Max, Servers, internet connectivity etc.
Easynet took over UK Online in November 1996, and I was retained in the same role.
By August 1997, my family and I decided that the rural life in Somerset was perhaps not quite what we wanted. I therefore gradually handed over my duties at UK Online, and was able to leave quietly on October 7 1997.
