THE ABBEY ROAD COMPANION

(CD 1994 INVASION UNLIMITED IU 9420-1)

CD cover

1. Because (vocals only)
2. Come And Get It
(Paul McCartney-demo for Badfinger, 24 July 1969)
3. I Want You (She's So Heavy)
(The Beatles follow in the footsteps of Cream as
a heacy-rock trio while George Harrison is in hospital. A session NOT documented
in Mary Lewisohn's Beatles-books and one rare occasion where Paul sings lead
vocals on one of John's songs. Trident studios, February 1969)

4. I Need You
(from the same sessions as above comes this track. It is a total unreleased
John Lennon-original which has got nothing to do with the George Harrison-song of the
same name. The "counterpart" to I WANT YOU, a sentimental ballad)

5. Something
(the original George Harrison demo. Recorded on his 26th birthday, 25 February 1969)
6. Something
(a rough mix of the Beatles' studio-version complete with extended piano-led
jam-session ending. Take 36, 2 May 1969)

7. Maxwell's Silver Hammer
(unedited version with full beginning)
8. Oh! Darling
(rough mix with different lead vocals)
9. Octopus's Garden
(rough mix)
The Long One/Huge Medley
10. You Never Give Me Your Money
11. Sun King
12. Mean Mr. Mustard
13. Her Majesty
14. Polythene Pam
15. She Cam In Through The Bathroom Window
16. Golden Slumbers
17. Carry That Weight
18. The End
(tracks 10-18 represent the first mix-down of what was to become side 2 of
ABBEY ROAD, without further overdubs and some songs still unfinished. This was done on
30 July 1969 for the Beatles to see if and how it all fitted together)

19. Her Majesty
(the one track that did not fit, with "full ending")
20. You Never Give Me Your Money
(a very early mix with different vocal/no lead guitar and
a bit of jamming at the end)

21. Golden Slumbers
22. Carry That Weight
(for both tracks see 20)
23. Because
(alternate mix with instrumental backing mixed out for the first half of the song)

"THE ABBEY ROAD COMPANION" is a collection of demos/outtakes and rough mixes recorded
