CD Notes:
On October 3, 1978, Paul brought together an array
of friends and fellow musicians to play
on a track called "Rockestra". The sessions ran from 10:30am to 6:30pm at the
Abbey Road
studios. Among the people that played on the sessions that day, were Pete Townshend, Hank
Marvin, Denny Lane, David Gilmour, Kenny Jones, John Bonham, Gary Brooker and Howard Casey
to name a few. The film begins with Paul rehearsing at home on the piano, then we are
given
a tour through the corridors of the Abbey Road studios, the guests begin to gather at
studio
two, where Paul runs through rehearsals on piano with the other players. Once the master
tapes were made, Paul's lead vocal overdubs were made onto tape the following day with
Linda
McCartney and Denny Lane recording background vocals. The film was recorded by five 35mm
cameras positioned at each end of the studio, only a few thousand feet of footage was used
In the final produced film from that days shooting.
