ABBEY ROAD TOUR

(CD-ROM 1996)

The Tour comprises a virtual tour of Abbey Road studios. Each of the main rooms has been photographed and compiled using Apple's QuickTime new VR technology. The introductory screen includes some videos and information about Apple Computer and Abbey Road Interactive.
Using The Tour is easy. The general rule for the interface is - move your mouse cursor around the screen, if it highlights, then it will take you somewhere - just click the mouse.
To move around in the VR environment, hold down the mouse button and move the cursor left or right. You will get a complete 360 degree view of the room. By holding down the CTRL key you can zoom whilst holding down the SHIFT key allows you to zoom in.
There are several ways to move around in the tour - within the node there are 'transition hotspots', indicated by a large arrow. To find these move around the environment without holding down the mouse button. If you click on a transition hotspot you will journey to the next place in the tour. In some places there are several transition hotspots.

If you have a particular place that you would like to go, e.g. Studio One, just click on the name in the list to the left of the tour. The list is in two parts - POST PRODUCTION which lists all the post production facilities available at Abbey Road and STUDIOS for each of the studios and their control rooms. Click on the appropriate button at the bottom of the screen to view the section of the list in which you are interested. Then click on the name of the room which you wish to visit.
The third way to move around is to click on the map to the right of the VR window. The numbered buttons change the map to the different floors. Click on the beacon to go outside and walk across the famous crossing.
Many of the rooms also include features about which there is more detailed information. When you place the cursor on a feature hotspot, it will change to a hand. Click the mouse button when the cursor is hand-shaped and the information will be displayed.
