Diana Rigg was born July 20, 1938 in Doncaster, Yorkshire.
She has one younger brother. When she was two months old, her family moved to Jodhpur, in northwest India,
where she lived until she was eight years old, when she was sent back to England to boarding school.
She first attended Great Missenden in Buckhinghamshire, and three years later transferred to Fulneck Girl's School
in Pudsey, Yorkshire.
Acted in Goldilocks a school play in 1951. Entered the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1955.
Married Menachem Gueffen in 1973 an Israeli painter, but divorced in 1976.
Married Archibald Stirling 1982 but divorced 1990, their daughter Rachel Stirling is an actress.
Honorary doctorates from Universities of Stirling (1988) & Leeds (1992).
She is Professor of Theatre Studies at Oxford University.
Awarded a CBE in 1987 & created Dame Diana Rigg in 1994.
Received a BAFTA Award 14 May 2000 for her Avengers work.
An avid angler, fly fishing for trout and salmon.
When not acting or angling, she likes to walk in the countryside, to write and to read.
