TRANSPORT NEEDS

Do you tend to rely on other people to drive you where you want to go do you feel that current transport provision in Riseley fall short of meeting your needs a? Would you welcome improved transport provision in Riseley?

If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, then help may be at hand, thanks to a new Countryside Agency initiative. The agency is is encouraging parishes across the East of England to apply for funding from the parish Transport grant scheme to finance small scale initiatives to address local transport needs.

The emphasis of the scheme is on local identification of needs and locally generated solutions which attempt to address those needs. The agency is eager to experiment with new innovations in transport provision and welcomes creative ideas, which may not have been tried and tested.

Riseley is keen to apply for the grant and is working with transport and travel research brackets t t r brackets that a limited, a transport consultancy based in Nottingham which has been appointed by the agency to assist parishes to identify needs and explore potential solutions.

For we are in the process of trying to identify specific transport needs within the parish, and encouraged many residents who may be experiencing unmet needs to participate in the research. Although the grant funding is available is relatively small packets £10,000 over three years packets it provides an excellent opportunity to tackle needs which may not be met by current transport provision in the village.
