R K Pridham engineering one of the country's premier steam boiler specialists, has now been manufacturing and repairing boilers for locomotives and traction engines for over a quarter of a century. The Company who also deal with industrial boilers, can carry out complete services in their brand new 9500 square feet workshops, as well as supplying parts or manufactured components to their customers. The company is owned by Roger Pridham, who founded the business in 1977. Mr Pridham noticed an increase in the demand for high quality boiler repairs and decided to fill this niche in the market to the highest standard.

The company started life in three tin sheds , formerly Pridhams garage and charabanc depot. In 1985, the original site was demolished to make way for a purpose built workshop on the same site in Lamerton, West Devon. In 2007 the company took up residence in a brand new 9500 square ft unit on a 2 1/2 acre site just outside Tavistock. Presently the company employs 11 staff, mostly from engineering backgrounds such as dockyards and power stations. R K Pridham engineering offers its customers a full range of services. They can supply a completely new boiler from scratch using existing patterns or drawings, carry out repairs to existing boilers or supply customers with parts and guidance to enable the customer to carry out the work themselves.

The majority of customers are heritage railways and societies who have a passion for maintaining the glory of steam and preserving our heritage. Quarries, hospitals, breweries and even a monastery have used our services, extending the client base throughout the UK and beyond, the name R K Pridham is becoming well known in Europe with recent orders from Holland and Denmark. The business offers a very high class of service and prides itself on its levels of after sales service. All of the works undertaken are under constant scrutiny by various bodies, including national rail authorities, to ensure high standards. Parts are produced in an authentic fashion, but utilising modern techniques to ensure optimum results. The company is continuing to grow to suit customers needs and is always looking for new skills and equipment to stay ahead.
