Glen Bee in Richie County, WV, USA at 00.24 Tuesday April 29th, 2008
My name is Glen Bee and I am trying to find information on my Great Grand parents Lloyd and Ella Bee. They died sometime between 1885 and 1900 and my Grandfather who was Ashby Bunker Bee was raised by a Uncle and Aunt by the name of Janett and Elizabeth Merrideth in Ritchie County WV. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Danny Mills in New Zealand at 02.48 Wednesday April 23rd, 2008
My partner/fiancee is Graeme Bee. He is descended from either Francis and Annie Bee who came out to NZ aboard the London in January 1842 or George Bee, Francis's younger brother who came out on the Rangoon in 1863. They were from Nottingham County.
When I first met Graeme in 1993, he had not long returned from a Bee family reunion where he'd purchased a copy of a manuscript for an unpublished book entitled Smoke Across the Bay (Hawke's Bay, NZ - where both families eventually settled) whose author, Mary Wilson is another decendant. The story follows Francis and George's families throughout their respective landings to the 1940s.
James Bee in Chelmsford, England at 14.06 Sunday March 2nd, 2008
Hello all you busy bumble Bees. I'm James from Chelmsford, Essex, England. I'm 60 in March and my Dad, William Henry Bee, will be 86 2 days before. I was born in Bermondsey and to-day met my cousin once removed Stan for the first time in 52 yrs, it was him who told me about the site. I have younger siblings Anne, Les and Shirley. Grandad was another William who worked the London Docks. Shirley has done some research (too much to discuss here). Odd story, travelling thru Mesquite, Nevada and called into the Drug store for something and noticed that the attending Pharmacist was James Bee. He wasn't there that day so we called back the next day and met him !! Are you still there James
Sharon Bee at 02.54 Wednesday February 27th, 2008
Hey I am Sharon Bee and my father was Harry Hughes Bee from West Virginia and his father was Harry Segar Bee and his father was Ezekiel Bee. During research my lineage is said to trace back to Judea. This is a really neat site and it would be nice to talk to some of these people. I do know that Ephraim Bee is in my lineage it just seems as those my family is getting larger.
Geraldine Brailsford in the UK at 19.30 Thursday February 21st, 2008
My mum was Joyce Bee born near Retford in Nottinghamshire. I am tracing
the Bee Bellamy family history from the villages around Retford. These
villages include Wheatley, Bole, East Markham, Hayton, Grindley and many
more. Some of the Bees flew off into Lincolnshire.

Desmond Whitby in Porchester, Hampshire, UK at 15.00 Sunday February 3rd, 2008
My mother was a Scunthorpe Bee. Her uncle Will. was the Bee responsible for Bee's Corner in Scunthorpe. It is what used to be a large Gents Outfitters on the corner of High St. and Cole St.
His father, my great grandfather, was Samuel Bee, born at Snarford Lincs in February 1846; Son of Samuel and Mary Bee. Samuel (senior) was born in 1819 and died in Scunthorpe at the age of 93 in May 1912.
Although my research is incomplete, I have a fair bit of information about this branch of the Bee family and will be quite willing to share it with anyone interested.
Sheri Payne in Hawaii, USA at 01.04 Friday January 25th, 2008
Hi! I am Sheri Payne, nee Sylvia, from California. I also am related to Henry Jubilee Bee of California. Here is some of the info I have on him:
Henry Jubilee (Harry) Bee was a blacksmith from England who came to California on the Dryad in 1830. He jumped ship in Monterey, married into a California family in 1838, and served in many positions for both the Mexican and American governments, including as constable of the pueblo of San Jose. While serving there, the gold rush began and most of the men in San Jose left for the hills. Bee had 10 prisoners in his charge at the time and couldn't leave them, since even the alcalde had headed for gold. Enterprising man that he was, he took the prisoners with him to the gold fields and made them dig for gold. (James Murphy's History of San Jose)
According to the book Seventy Five Years in San Francisco by William Davis, Appendix N, Record of Ships Arriving at California Ports, from 1774 to 1847, the Dryad arrived in San Francisco in 1831 and 1833. There is no record of it ever docking in Monterey, although the author admits that his list is not complete.
1880 Census, listed as Henry Bie, age 72, birthplace England, father's birthplace Wales, mother's birthplace Wales, widowed, occupation: interpreter.

Tom Royal in Chicago, IL at 03.31 Tuesday January 15th, 2008
My grandfather was Fred Homer Bee, Jr. of Huntington, West Virginia.
Unfortunately, he died of tuberculosis in 1940 when my mother was only
two years old. He had a traveling carnival (F.H. Bee Amusements) and
was very well known. Before that, he was a school principal and
actually turns up when you Google him !
When my grandmother died in 2000, she was buried next to him in Huntingtown.
My name is Tom Royal and I grew up in Owensboro, KY and now live in
Chicago, IL. He was the last Bee in his line.

Annette Annett in England at 09.18 Monday July 2, 2007
I was born Annette BEE in York, England. My paternal family tree goes back as follows: My father Thomas William Bee-York 27/06/1927, grandfather Harry Bee –Bradford? 1896---Thomas Bee - Wilts. Circa1869----Thomas Woodcock Bee - Bradford circa1837----Thomas Bee- Conisbro circa 1808.
Thomas Bee born circa 1808 married Sarah Woodcock at St Martins Church Calverley Leeds 24/06/1832 but as it was before 1837( when the state started registering weddings) it doesn’t show the parents of the bride & groom. So now I am stuck as to the parents of Thomas Bee ( I have details of Sarah WOODCOCKS parents)
Can anyone suggest anything? Your help would be most grateful.
Martin Mercer in Preston, England at 15.18 Saturday June 23, 2007
I am descended from the Barnacre/Garstang Bees, and am therefore a distant cousin of both Lynne Wild and Simon Bee who are also on this site (and
probably many more of you!). My gg grandmother was Elisabeth Bee, daughter of Benjamin and Ellen (nee Brewer). My daughter was delighted when we established that we were descended from Benjamin Bee, because she thought he
sounded like a character in a children's story. There is an entry in the quarter sessions for Lancashire dated 25.11.1728 (Lancashire Record Office)
recording a complaint made by the churchwardens of Penwortham that Thomas Bee and his wife Jennet (my gx6 grandparents) and their children Margaret,
Alice, George and Thomas were poor and likely to become a charge on Penwortham. As they had but lately come out of Goosnargh, they had gained no
legal settlement in Penwortham, and were duly moved back to Goosnargh under a resettlement order. I wish I could let Thomas and Jennet know that their
descendents made it back to Penwortham (Preston) 270 years later, and so far have not become a burden on the parish poor relief fund!
Jacqueline Davies in Nottingham, England at 20.09 Friday March 23, 2007
Hi, I have just come across this site by accident. I belong to the Nottinghamshire Bees. I have been researching the name for many years. It was my grandmother who was a Bee. My Bee family have been in Nottingham since my ancestor Robert Bee married Elizabeth Culley in 1805. His son Robert married Elizabeth Millott. Before this they were living in Marnham and then Harby in Nottinghamshire where my ancestor Thomas Bee married in 1682.
Nice to know there are so many Bees around!
Gillian Bee in Sacramento, California at 20.21 Friday March 16, 2007

Lynne Wild in Lancashire, England at 18.22 Friday March 16, 2007
Hello to all the Bees out there! My grandfather was Thomas Bee Bowker, his mother Ruth Bee, we gave Bee to our eldest son as a middle name not realising, until I started doing the family tree, that we were carrying on a family tradition. Our Bees are from the Garstang / Barnacre area of Lancashire, England and I have quite a number going back to Thomas Bee 1624 who married Elizabeth Carter.

Simon Bee in Herefordshire, England at 15:51:00 Tuesday December 12 2006
Just stumbled on this site - excellent. My name is Simon Bee. I am married with three boys and live in Herefordshire. My sister has
four children and lives in Essex and my brother Richard lives with his wife and three children in Toronto. Dad (David Bee, 1933 - 2000)
was born in Worcester and, until he passed on, was locally famous for being Mr Bee who kept bees (about 30 hives). His brother John
emigrated to Australia (now living in Albany) and had four children, one of whom sadly died in his 30s. I've spoken to Uncle John on the
phone but never met him. Grandad was William Bee (1904 - 1976). He was a Worcester Porcelain artist in the 20s/30s and his work is now
rare and expensive. His father was Richard Bee, mother Lucy Bee (nee Jacobs), who moved to Worcester around the turn of the century. He
originated from Garstang, Lancashire and came from a line of gamekeepers and farm workers. He apprenticed as a painter/decorator
and became chief decorator at Hindlip Hall, Worcester with Lucy being chief laundry maid. He soon set up his own business and moved to
Rainbow Hill. Round about that time he became a Seventh Day Adventist which meant that he was put on trial during WWI as a
conscientious objector. My brother in law has been doing the family history thing but we would be interested in hearing more from anyone
to whom this genealogy sounds familiar, particularly about the Garstang and Jacobs connections. Great site - keep it up.
Peter Bee in Loughborough, England at 22:32:00 Saturday November 25 2006
I'm impressed, this is a very long list of Bees in the UK.
I have to admit I got here searching for any Scottish link within the Bee Family as I am in the process of learning to play the pipes and I was advised to investigate any Scottish connections or lineage as apparently there is a direct link between choosing to play the pipes and having a Scottish ancestry. I had never dreamed that there were this many Bees as I'm quite sure that not every Bee in (or from) the UK is represented on here.
If any other Bee in England/Scotland plays the bagpipes please do contact me on my e-mail address.
June Lenton Bonnebaight in South Cheshire, England at 21:56:00 Tuesday November 7 2006
My maiden name was June Bee, born 26 May 1937 to Sidney and Mary (Molly) Bee (nee Walford) in Manchester. I was brought up in Northwich, Cheshire.
My father was born in the Greater Manchester area to Fred and Emma Bee on 19th August 1907, and was probably the third or fourth child of the marriage. He had an older sister, Lily and an older brother Walter. Apparently, some children died in infancy, but I'm not sure how many. Grandad had his own business as a Painter/Decorator in the Manchester area, and lived around the Halliwell Lane area (I think this was the Cheetham Hill area).
There were several other children of the marriage, though I do not know their ages or in which order they were born. Their names, so far as I can remember were Fred married to Mary, Amy (married to Carl Livesey), May (married to John Smith), Alice (married to Charlie King).
My father worked at several jobs in his youth, but I believe he was a printer at the time of my birth. After we moved to Northwich, he worked for the I.C.I. in Northwich for the rest of his (too short) life. He died age 43 years (I was thirteen) and never really asked at that age much about his family. They were just Grandad, Grandma and uncles and aunts!!
Purely heresay, my mother believed my grandfather's family lived in the Skipton, Yorkshire area, and I have also heard that the family originally came to England from Germany, settling in the Cumbria area (maybe this is why there is a Scottish connection in there somewhere).
somewhere around the 13/14th century. Again how true this is, or whether someone in the family had a vivid imagination I cannot say.
I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about Dad's family, especially as apart from me, my sister Sylvia and my cousin Joan (daughter of May and John Smith) we know just about zilch.
I now live in South Cheshire and as my Auntie May did say she believed her father (Grandad) had spent some time in the Staffordshire area perhaps someone out there knows something about us.
Great to hear there are so many Bees about - thought I was just about the last of the clan!!

I am from the BEE clan, my mother was Margaret Bee (now Hughes) and had 2 sisters (Eleanor and Phyllis) and one brother (Henry). Their father was Frederick Bee (Slate quarryman) who married Sarah Jones and lived in Caernarfon, North Wales. Frederick's father was also called Frederick (Coal Merchant and Private IV RWF) and he also lived in Caernarfon during 1902 and married Ellen Jones. His father was also named Frederick (phew! loads of them) and was a moulder - not sure whom he was married to as yet and there seems to be information that he moved to Wales, possibly from Southport area? Still working on that one. If anyone is related or knows any information, feel free to contact me via email.

Wow! lots of bees!! I live in Northamptonshire, and my fathers name was John Bee, and originally from Lancashire, my mother is Angela. My fathers father was also John Bee married to Joan. I have never met anyone else called Bee. Does anyone else get fed up of having to spell your surname out for people??? i think Bee would have to be the easiest surname for anyone to spell!!

Hi all you Durham Bees. Lots of lovely information. I didn't realise there were so many Bees.
I am researching Joseph Bee who was married to Jane [Fox] possibly in Burma in about 1874. Jane was my great, great grandmother. When Joseph died, or was discharged, Jane came back to live in Sedgefield, Co. Durham and worked at the County Asylum Sedgefield. He is not on the 1881 census and could also have died in Burma. I have information about Jane's first husband William Henry Fox who also died in Asia and his descendants but I would love to fill in the gaps in Jane's life.

I have recently found the WEB site. I was adopted at only 6 weeks old to the Perry family but was born 'John Bee' in January 1961. I know a lot about my history as I have recently been to see the local adoption agency in Leicester who dealt with my adoption in 1961. I know my mums name, both christian and maiden, and also her married name.

I am just starting to investigate the paternal side of the family of Bee. I know that we came from England in the 1700s, settled in New Jersey, and then moved on to West Virginia. I also know that our religious beliefs started in Judaism and were then converted to Christianity shortly after arriving in this country. I would like to know more information about relations to any Bee in England and further back.

Bees; to those among us who seek to know General Bernard E. Bee, CSA; understand well, when Bee's command met the Federalist assault and held, Jackson stood like a stone wall, a stone wall against commitment to the battle not the enemy. Bee's words were not a compliment. Had Brave Bee not given his life for the cause the history of Jackson would be different.

I am not part of the "Bee" clan but have searched quite hard over the years for news of an old friend, John Bee who came from Carlisle but at the time I knew him lived in Stratford on Avon where his father, Ralph Bee, was director of an Animal Husbandry centre. John had an older brother, Geoff, and sister, Barbara. I understand he moved to Toronto, Canada sometime in the early to mid 1970s but I would love to hear news of him. He would now be around 56 years old and may be a lecturer/teacher in the earth sciences field. I believe his wife's name is/was Janet.

I am currently researching a monograph on Brig Gen Barnard E. Bee who was my first cousin (several times removed). This Bee played an important part in 19th century American history. Barnard Bee came from a prominent family in Charleston, South Carolina. His grandfather served in the Continental Congress, and his father was instrumental in the founding of the Republic of Texas. There is a Bee County in Texas named in his father's honor. Bee attended the U.S. Military Academy at West Point (1841-45) and was honored for his bravery in the Mexican-American War. He was stationed in New Mexico, Minnesota and Utah in the 1850s before resigning his commission to fight for his home state of South Carolina. He is best known for giving T. J. Jackson his sobriquet of "Stonewall" just before receiving a mortal wound at First Manassas on July 21, 1861. I would be most grateful to receive any information about this particular Bee family.

I am the great-great grandson of Emphraim Bee (1802-1888)and my great grandmother (6th child of Emphraim) was West Virginia Bee Zinn. Emphraim Bee was a pioneer from Doddridge County, West Virginia that went down into the history books of West Virginia.
Below is an article from Alton Childers showing the life of accomplishments by Emphraim Bee.
Ephraim Bee [1802 - 1888] One of early settlers of West Union.
In the past, when checking some needed information about Doddridge County, I would often see the name Ephraim Bee. Especially in Hardesty's Historical & Geographical Encyclopedia (1833) and in Jim Comstock's reprinting of Hardesty's Doddridge County (1973). Also, Joseph H. Diss Debar in his Reminiscences of Doddridge County (1893) relates information about Ephraim Bee and his family.
I came to admire this man highly and planned to write about him. But I had no picture to go with his story. Since several of his descendants live in this area, I was hoping that someday I could locate his photograph. Recently I had the good fortune to be talking with Mrs. Nellie Smith whose husband was the late Forest B. Smith. She told me she had Ephraim Bee's picture and information which I could use.
Most of the following was written by H.H. Hardesty in 1883. Ephraim Bee came of sturdy pioneer stock. He was the son of Asa Bee, a Revolutionary War soldier who was born at Salem, New Jersey. His father's family joined the westward movement of the Seventh Day Baptists. After a brief stop in Preston & Taylor Counties, they established their home at Salem, West Virginia. Ephraim's mother was Rhoda (Cox) B ee. Asa & Rhoda Bee had thirteen children.
Ephraim was born on Dec. 26, 1802. At the age of 19 he came to Doddridge County, living here the rest of his life.
On June 19, 1823, he married Catherine Davis. They had ten children: Josiah, Keziah, Amos, Stinnet, Wickliff, and Ephraim W., Houston C., Augustus J., Martha Louisa (Smith) and Edmund S.
His second wife was Mary Welch (Bee). Their marriage was March 27, 1853. They had seven children: Mary E., John, Hannah, Susan, Rachel, West Virginia, and Tabitha.
The fifth daughter of his second marriage was born on the day Pres. Abraham Lincoln signed the proclamation or bill making West Virginia a state; hence her name was West Virginia Bee.
In 1883 H. H. Hardesty [History of Doddridge County] wrote: "Ephraim Bee is a self-made man, having had but four month's of schooling in all of his life. He held district offices, was a magistrate, a postmaster. He had a blacksmith shop (near the present railroad bridge in West Union) for thirty-five years, making everything, - guns, cowbells, augurs, etc. He has in his possession a gimlet he made when he was nineteen years old and is a good one yet."
(Please note: In 1976 Floyd Crouse gave me an old newspaper clipping 6om the West Union Herald. In it A.A. Bee had written: "The first bridge across Middle Island Creek was of hewed logs with a center abutment of stones. In the great flood of 1835 if' was washed away."
In 1842 a contract was awarded to build a new covered bridge. Ephraim Bee at that time had a hotel and blacksmith shop on what is now known as Block House Hill. He made all the bolts and bands for the bridge which was completed in 1843. ")
In 1863 Ephraim Bee was elected to be a member of the first West Virginia Legislature. He helped make the state's first laws. He served a second term in the legislature in 1866 and a third in 1867.
"To the people of Central West Virginia, Ephraim Bee was a personage, combining the qualities of a shrewd wit and love of fun, with a keen eye for value in a horse-trade or a deal in land. To the younger generation he has become something of a legend, so great and widespread was his fame."
Ephraim had a reputation as a great story teller and practical joker. Hardesty wrote: "Lincoln & Bee had more in common than a sense of humor. They were both long, lean and lanky and with faces that could not be termed handsome by their dearest and closest friends. They were saved from ugliness by a sense of humor and softened, kindly eyes that lit up and redeemed an otherwise unprepossessing appearance."
Along this line of having fun, Ephraim established a secret order of his own, called E. Clampus Vitus and with a ritual similar to existing orders. His goal was to produce a grin where only a grouch had flourished.
This order had quite a success, too lengthy to describe here. It was started at West Union perhaps as early as 1850 "By 1853 it was being introduced to other towns and had won a very considerable following of zealous members." A report of the activities was recorded in the "Weston Herald for Nov. 28, 1953.
"In 1828 Ephraim Bee established himself as a blacksmith on Blockhouse Hill (Lewisport). His business was good. To add to his family income, Ephraim and his good wife opened a tavern for the entertainment of travelers The hostelry became justly popular and was soon made a stagecoach stop (on Norwestern Turnpike). Here the passengers broke the tedium of their journey with food and drink."
One of those travelers was Joseph H. Diss Debar (designer of W.Va. State Seal.) He wrote of the excellent quality of food, saying that he had a smoking hot dinner of boiled ham, greens, mashed potatoes, dried peach pie, store tea; all of a quality to be gratefully remembered..... When he settled his modest bill and learned that the proprietor's name was Bee and observing the number of children playing about, said that it had never before been his pleasure to dine in a "Bee Hive." For years, afterwards the inn was known by that name.
Certainly, for his accomplishments, Ephraim Bee was a remarkable man. An item in the West Union Record in 1885 stated that "Honorable Ephraim Bee, one of the first settlers in this area & now an old & respected citizen of this county is dangerously ill at his home on Cabin Run. He died on Oct. 23, 1888, age 86. Place of burial Cabin Run Cemetery.
back to whence ye came.

As I have recently moved across the world to New Zealand and am going to have my first child next month I thought I would try to look at my family tree....
My maternal family hail from Lincolnshire and there is a link to the Bee family.
My Maternal great-grandmother was Susan Bee born 9th April 1875 in Northampton, although the family lived in Croft, Lincolnshire.
Her parents were James Fox Bee, born about 1835 at Fosdyke Fen and Elizabeth Franklin born about 1840 at Kirton Fen.
They had 5 other children John Hammond Bee (c. 1870), James Bee (c. 1873), William Bee (c. 1877), Alfred Bee (c. 1879) and Lydia Bee (?)
Lydia, John, James and Susan were all christened on 26th December 1875 in Croft, Lincoln
William and Alfred were christened on 31st December 1882 also in Croft.
I have only been researching since the week-end so hopefully I may dig up further gems

Her father was James Bee b. 1825, who was the son of Stephen Bee, born in Branston, Lincs.1791. As far as I can see (and with the help of a Mr Walter Bee) my Bee line (no pun intended !) goes back to John Bee who was buried in Newton on Trent in 1538 and who was possibly the son of another John.
Giles Bee in Packington, Leicesterhire at 17:03:53 Thursday October 30 2003
Hi. My name is Giles Bee and I live in Packington, Leicestershire. My father's name is Andrew Bee, born 1935 in London, but now lives in Southwell, Notts. His parents were Lyle and Erica (Kathleen) Bee, originally from Newark, Notts, although they lived in London when my father was a small boy (Lyle was a teacher at a school in London), but the family "en masse" were evacuated during WW2 to Cumbria. Whereabouts in Cumbria? St Bees, where else?!! Lyle and Kath retired to Norfolk in the 1960s, and Andrew moved to Audlem, Cheshire with his job as an Engineer at Rolls-Royce motors, with my mother Jennifer Bee (nee Jackson). We moved then to Hartlebury in Worcesterhire in 1972, Old Dalby, Leics in 1976 and they finally settled in Southwell in 1978.
My father has 3 brothers - David in Sockport, Robert in Canterbury and Richard in Bedfordshire.
I have an elder sister, Anna Bee, living in Sheffield, working for the Department of Work and Pensions, a younger brother Michael, living in Windermere, working as a hotel restaurant Manager, and a younger sister, Katie who has just graduated from Newcastle University. I work for a company that manufactures large exterior trim mouldings for Jaguar, Land Rover and MG Rover. I also have several cousins - Sarah Bee in Bristol, Andrew Bee in Kent, Nick Bee in Tregaron, Wales, Robert and Helen Bee in London.
I am amazed to see so many Bees around the world - we are lucky to have such an exclusive surname that always raises a smile or comment!! It is always fascinating to read other peoples comments and stories - I'm really glad I found this site and will be a regular visitor from now on.

I always thought my last name was pretty unique. I also though it was from my native american descent. It seems like it may be English from all of the Bees I've found fom the UK. Charles Bee is also a family name for the first born son. If anyone finds they are related to me, I would like to know.
Donald Bee in Simi Valley, California at 02:09:24 Sunday March 30 2003
Just found your website and noticed that my cousins, Randy and Denise (Sherwood) had been here. Our first ancestor here in the US was Richard John Moxie Bee from Edinburgh, Scotland. He came to the U.S. in about 1850 as a member of the LDS church when he was about 14. He married Georgina Mckecnie of Leith, Scotland and they eventually settled in Bear Lake County, Idaho.
He fathered 12 children. My grandfather, Stearns Philander Bee, was the 10th child. He fathered nine children. My father, Orvin J. Bee, was the 5th child. My father was raised in southern Idaho and lived there until he joined the Marine Corps after high school.
He married my mother, Corinne Crawford and together they had five children of which I am the eldest.
I was raised in Southern California. I spent eight years in the Army as a Military Policemen. I have been employed for the last 23 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
This is more than I have typed about myself in a long time, but worth it if any of the family find it. I know there are more of you out there.

How did the name become as large as it is. Seems like everyone is in hiding !!
Roger Copelin in Brighton, Sussex, England at 23:03:50 Saturday March 15 2003
I have found during research that my Great Grandmother Annie WALFORD's eldest Daughter Elizabeth married a BEE. On the 1901 census they are shown as living in Plumstead, South London. It is possible that this might be an Edmund BEE from Nottingham, England, who is the only person on the 1901 English census who matches the family group of serial numbers.
Could Steve Bee from Eltham get in touch off site.

Richard Bee in London, England at 20:03:58 Thursday February 6 2003
What can I say. I stumbled upon this. I am Richard Bee from Edinburgh Scotland. There seems to be a big connection with the Bees and Scotland. From what I know I believe the name to be an anglofied (or in this case Scottishfied) version of Bie which is a Hugenot French name - the Hugenots came to the UK I think in the 17th century. Can any one shed any more light on this ?
Anyway I now live in London where I direct documentaries for the BBC. My brother Daniel Bee does too - he heads up a PR company which represents famous tv and comedy peronsalities.

So glad to find this website!! My dad was Bennie C. Bee of Pulaski, Tn. His father's name was John Henry Bee and he was married 3 times. His second wife was my dad's mother,Mexie Curtis and after she died, he married Ella Campbell(she had been married before, also). My grandfather's mother was a Tucker. I only know that they lived in the Pulaski, Tn area, which was where my Dad was raised. I haven't been able to trace back any further. It was said for many years, that my great-great grandfather was an Indian chief. However, from what I've been told, no birth records were kept back then. My grandfather was born in the 1860's and died in 1952 in Pulaski, Tn. If any of you BEE's think you may have any info linked to my ancestory, please email me. I do know that there are some of my relatives still living in the Pulaski area. If any of you are related, please contact me. My siblings are: Betty Jo Bee, Alice Ann Bee, Larry Richard Bee, Peggy Joyce Bee, Garry Cline Bee. We are all married and most of us have grandchildren. My parents are both deceased. I was born in Wispington in Lincolnshire, daughter of Joseph Bee and the first entry I can find was John Bee's marriage to Alice Hollingsworth at Barkston, Lincs on 13th May 1786. I noticed an entry from two sisters Gillian and Catherine Bee, on 15 May 1998 whose father came from Barkston. I should be most interested to hear from them if they are still in contact with you. I left Lincolnshire in 1947 but I have many contacts from our family in and around Lincoln. My grandfather Abraham was born in Billinghay in 1881 and had 9 children. The youngest two are still alive. I have two brothers carrying on the family name and know that we have more relations in Australia and New Zealand.

I found your site as I was trying to find out the origin of the name for my son's homework. From the messages it seems that years of research have drawn many conclusions ! I come from Coventry and my fathers family were from Leicester.

I can't believe how many there are of us out there!!! Really cool site. Would be good to trace family links. We're from Gloucestershire and there aren't many of us round here, well not now anyway! About 150 years ago they lived in the Cotswolds, in villages around Cheltenham.

I have been researching the name BEE for many years. I am descended from a GEORGE BEE of Elmsthorpe, Leicestershire. He was born about 1670!! Most of his descendants lived in Leicester or Leicestershire. Prior to 1670 the only BEEs I can find were in Leicester in the 1200's and 1300's. I have not made any connection with the 1300 BEE's and the 1600 ones. Any information on Leicestershire BEEs would be very welcome.

Hello all you Bees out there! I am a Bee by marriage. My husband is John Anthony Bee,born in Scunthorpe ,Lincolnshire,England in October 1950 (he may be getting on a little, but still in good working order)! He is one of three sons born to John Thomas Bee (Scunthorpe), and his wife, Edith(Joan). Sadly, J.T, always known as Tom is no longer with us. He himself was one of a large family, many of whom are still very much alive and kicking! We have three sons ourselves, John-Damian born (Scunthorpe)1979, Matthew (Scunthorpe)1981 and Dominic (who took us rather by surprise) born Norwich 1989! I work full time as a District Midwife and my old man manages the conveyancing departments in a law firm in Norfolk- - all pretty normal really - - secretly, we harbour a longing to be a guitarist in a rock band (him) and a jazz singer me) - -Dream on!!!

Just playing with a new search engine and came across "The Bee Hive". I'm a 50+ retired computer consultant living in Appleby Magna, just 5 miles north of Tamworth in Staffordshire (UK), where we have lived for 18 years (so pass Wilnecote School quite often). My father (Walter Albert Bee) was born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire in 1914, son of Dennis Bee, also from Lincolnshire. My father's family then lived for some years in Leeds and later Manchester before my father married and moved to Harrogate in North Yorkshire in the late 1940's (where I was born). Myself and my wife Pauline have 3 sons, all born in Good Hope, Birmingham, but brought up in Tamworth.

Came accross the site by chance - and I always thought the Bee's were an endangered species! Glad to see we're prospering. Actually, I'm a male (mother had a sense of humour and thought Kimberley was a great name irrespective of sex), aged 53 and born in London. Never previously thought about researching the name but will start to dig through my late father's papers. Only thing I'm sure about is my Grandfather mentioning more than once Wainfleet as his family's place of origin. Great site - I'll be back!

Great website. Like everyone else amazed at the number of Bees out there.
My father, George Bee, recently passed away and had been trying to trace our family tree for the last 15 or so years. My father was born in Scotland and emmigrated to N.Z. 35 years ago and, although, there are quite a few "Bees" living in N.Z. we were apparently not related.
My grandfather lives in England and is also George Bee, as was my Great Grandfather George Bee (born in Wainfleet Lincolnshire). Great Great Grandfather George Bee married Mary Perrin (Wainflett, Lincolnshire). GGG Grandfather, John Bee, married Elizabeth Bowering in 1860. GGGG Grandfather "Another" George Bee married a Susannah Bee, Boston, 1826. GGGGG Grandfather William Bee married a Hannah Powderhill Boston, 1801. Have lots of gaps in the family tree and would be interested to hear from anyone who has any information on the above.

My uncle (Michael Bee ) has signed your guestbook and I am very curious about our family tree. Our family tree can not be traced after my great grand father but I would love to see if any of us are related in anyway. This is cool growing up with this "unique" last name. I'm thinking that we have to be related, this name is too rare. Well all Bee folks take care. My god protect you all.

Hi!
I have an item in my possession that once belonged to a Mr and Mrs John Bee. It was presented to them by the Officers, Teachers and Scholars of the Emerald Hill Wesleyn Sabbath School (Victoria, Australia) in August, 1882. If you are able to prove you are a descendant of this man, please contact me - we'd like this item to go to it's real owners.
Kind regards

Hi there all you fellow BEE researchers. I am 36, born in Auckland, New Zealand(b. 1963). I have been living and working in Sydney,Australia for the last 2 years. I have one brother, Peter Graeme BEE(b. 1965); our father's name is Graeme Edwin BEE(b. 1933 Auckland, NZ); his father William Hurst BEE(b. 1907 Pahiatua, NZ); his father Robert Alexander BEE(b. 1875 Oamaru, NZ); his father William BEE(b. 1843 Dalkeith, Scotland) emigrated from Scotland in 1863 to settle in Oamaru, NZ; his father James BEE(b. 1808 Dalkeith); his father David BEE(b. 1769 Inveresk, Scotland) I have further information on other family members.
I have been researching our BEE family for about 20 years on and off. I am particularly interested in finding more about the origins of the surname "BEE" and also a link between the BEE's of Northern England and the BEE's of Southern Scotland. There must be a common bond there somewhere, but maybe way back there was a family feud and part of the family fled across the border where they remained seperated by Hadrian's Wall? Anyone who can shed any light on the subject is most welcome to contact me.

Hello everyone, I am currently trying to research the BEE family.
I am descended from Sabina Bee who married John BALDOCK in Louth, Lincoln. Apart
from Louth the family name appears in Barton Upon Humber, Authorpe, and South Reston.
Sabina was born circa 1800 and John born in 1804. They were married in 1821.
They emigrated to South Australia in the 1840s. My great great great grandfather was
named John BEE BALDOCK. I would love any contact from BEE researchers and family
members.

Hi! My maternal grandmother is one of those "missing link" Bees. Her name was Audencia Bee and she was born in Lamoni, Iowa, on April 21 1898 and died in April of 1979 in Minnesota. She was the daughter of Cora Vanderflute and Ephraim Bee of Doddridge County in West Virginia. Cora was Ephraim's second wife. He was apparently the son of Asa Bee and Rhoda Cox.
Audenica's daughter, my mom, was Kathleen Bee McElligott. Her father was William James McElligott. The two divorced while their three children were young and Audencia never remarried. I'm the youngest of five children born to Kathleen Bee McElligott and her husband Scott David Walton (born: Taras Nicholas Wandzura).

Hello to the all of the Bees out there - we are the Bee Family in Nottingham. There are six in my immediate family - myself, Steve, and four boys, Adam aged 19, Daniel 16, Thomas 13, and Joshua 11. We live in a village 6 miles east of Nottingham City centre. My husband's father is also called RON BEE, he has a brother Frank, and sister Winnie. Their father Walter Bee was one of eight brothers.
The story goes that in the mid 1800s some of the Bee family emigrated to New Zealand from Nottingham, and apparently a book has been written about their resettlement. I have been told that now the Bee family name in New Zealand is widespread.
There are many more Bees in Nottingham, mostly related.
This is a great Web site - Please contact me I would be very interested to hear from any Bees. My E-Mail address is Elaine Bee.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi other Bees. I am Peter Graeme Bee, age 34, living in Christchurch, New Zealand. I was doing a search for my wife's name, Kathy (Kathryn) Bee and found your site. I was amazed also to find it is called "The Bee Hive" as we also have a website called The Bee Hive. Feel free to check it out as there are family photos on it (none of distant ancestors though- yet). I have one brother, Mark (Sydney, Australia) who is right into the family tree so I will point him in your site's direction and he can give a summary of our family. We were both born in Auckland, NZ and grew up in the deep south at Invercargill. There happened to be another Peter Bee there also.
I look forward to re-visiting your site periodically. Best wishes, Peter

Dear Roger, I am 38 years old, youngest of 6 children, born in Woolwich, South East London. I am the son of Charles Bee, also of Woolwich, whose father Fred Bee was also born in Woolwich. His father(my great grandfather) moved to Woolwich from Nottingham, to join a football team with his friend Fred Beardsley, also from Nottingham, which was called Dial Square, which was the name of the workshop they worked in in Woolwich Arsenal. This team then became Royal Arsenal, then Woolwich Arsenal, then ARSENAL! My great grandfather then became the first proffesional player to play for Arsenal in 1891 to 1893. He is mentioned in 2 books that I know of, one is called The Official History of Arsenal, and the other is Who's Who of Arsenal, and is also mentioned in a couple of other books that I have been told of but havn't seen. I thought this may have been of interest to you.

Great to see a Bee Family site. My mother is a Bee and we are descendants of Thomas Bee of London England. Our Bee relatives came to America through New Jersey and ultimately settled in West Virginia, primarily Harrison, Doddridge and Ritchie Counties. My gggg grandfather was Asa Bee, Sr. We have been told that our Bees were Jewish, however married Quakers and Seventh Day Baptists after coming to this country. Would love to hear from other Bees or anyone who can help with research in England. Thank you for taking the time to create and maintain this site.

Hello Bee's- My name is Gary G. Bee, currently living in San Diego. I would give you more family info but my uncle, Ron J Bee seems to have beat me to it... oh well, he knows more of the family history than I do.
I have enjoyed reading several of the current entries and am amazed at how many people are tracing family to similar origins. Maybe there are more of us than I thought. I'm not sure if thats good or bad....no offense intended but the Bee's in Calif (myself included) are really kookie...
I have added this site to my 'favorites' list so I can check in later..

Dear Roger and Fellow Bees, After some email exchange with another Ronald J. Bee
(both our middle names are John), I did some more digging on Bees, current and
past from Sheffield, and other parts of Northern England/Southern Scotland. The
information is found below, which I shared with my namesake in Brampton, Ontario.
Dear Ron Bee in Ontario,
It took me a day to absorb the fact that there is another Ron Bee in the world,
let alone another Ronald John Bee (John is indeed my middle name!), so excuse the
tardy response. On the other hand, I did not know of you for 43 years so one day
should be alright....Well, I did some more digging as a result of our email exchange,
and came up with some more information, but none thus far about Carl Bee.
My grandfather Tom had eight brothers and sisters; we are unaware of only one of
their names. We do know the lost sibling was a brother. Tom's father's name was
John Edward Bee, but his mum called him Edward. John Edward Bee ran a general store
and a pub called Rothenham Arms on Exchange St. in Sheffield. The building is no
longer there; supposedly there is a church located there now. That is also where
my grandfather Tom was born in 1884, upstairs wher
