Story 6

When Noah was 600 years old, his sons were all over one hundred years old. In those day’s man lived longer than they do now. It is thought that if man lived longer, he would create a much more terrible world, so the lifespan of man got reduced to about 120 years.

Noah and his family went into the ark with all the livestock, insects and animals as God commanded them, because he was going to bring a deluge upon the Earth. It rained for forty days and nights and then the floods continued for another 150 days to kill of all those living as they were sinful. The living things were taken in by male and female, so that they could breed.

Even the very tops of the tallest mountains were covered with water. It is thought that before the flood there were not the mountain ranges one sees today and the Earth crust would most likely have been far more flat and stable. The Earth plates did not have such movement and therefore it would have been easier to overwhelm the Earth with floodwater as the water canopy enveloping the Earth had enough surplus water to cover the highest mountain.

(Noah’s family entered the ark with the animals)

7 After that God commanded Noah: “You and your household must go into the ark, because you are the one I have seen to be righteous amongst your generation. 2 Of all the clean animals you must take them in sevens, the male and its mate, and the animals which are not clean you must take them in two, the male and its mate. 3 Also you must take the flying creatures of the heavens in sevens, the male and its mate, to preserve its offspring alive on the surface of the Earth. 4 Because in just seven days I shall make it rain upon the Earth for forty days and nights, and I shall wipe out every existing thing, which I have made, off the surface off the Earth. 5 And Noah did according to all that God commanded him.

6 Noah was 600 years old when the flood occurred upon the Earth. 7 So Noah, his wife, his sons and their wives entered the ark before the flood came. 8 Of every clean and unclean animal, of the flying creatures and all that crawled upon the ground, 9 Noah took them into the ark in twos, male and female, into the ark just as God had commanded Noah. 10 Seven days later the flood waters came upon the Earth.

11 When Noah was 600 years old, on the seventeenth day of the second month, all the springs of the watery deep were broken open and the floodgates of the water canopy were opened. 12 And it poured down upon the Earth for forty days and nights. 13 On this day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, went into the ark with their wives; 14 they and every domestic animal according to its specie, every crawling animal according to its specie, every flying creature according to its specie, every bird and every winged creature according to its specie. 15 And they were taken in by Noah, two by two, every sort of flesh in which there was the breath of life. 16 Those going in were male and female of every sort of flesh just as God had commanded. After which God shut the door behind them.

17 The flooding went on for forty days upon the Earth, and the waters kept increasing until it began to carry the ark, so that it floated high above the ground 18 and the water kept on greatly increasing upon the Earth, but the ark kept afloat upon the water. 19 The water overwhelmed the ground so much that it covered the tallest mountains 20 up to fifteen cubits of water covered the mountains.

21 So all the flesh upon the Earth died; all the flying creatures, all the domestic animals, all the wild animals that swarmed the Earth including mankind. 22 Everything that once possessed the breath of life in its nostrils, imparticularly all that was on the dry ground died. 23 So he wiped out every existing thing that was on the surface of the Earth, from man to animal, to crawling creature, to flying creatures of the sky, they were wiped out upon the Earth, and only Noah and those who accompanied him in the ark survived. 24 The waters continued to overwhelm the Earth for another 150 days.

So, now Noah was safe in his arc, with his family and the creatures. He obeyed God and the flood (deluge) came upon the Earth by God’s hand. Now the Earth was flooded and everything including the bad people of the Earth died. Now a new start could be made. Do you think it turns out the way God intends?
