Early Progress and Development

 

 

Much of the early development of Hartwood was due to the dedication and skill of medical superintendent - Dr. Archibald Campbell Clark.
His progressive approach towards the treatment of patients and the training of staff was to earn him considerable acclaim.

Dr Clark was born in Lochgilphead in 1852. He was educated at the local parish school, but, due to his father's early death, he did not have secondary education
