The best copy of the year was probably the piece on government reforms of post-16 qualifications - 'Generation Exhausted' Guardian Education March 20th - Other writers had highlighted the extra work sixth formers were doing as part of the Curriculum 2000 reforms, but my copy was the first to point out that the entire policy was failing. In June, under heavy pressure, the government began an inquiry into the initiative.
