SESL Division 1 has been won by CELTIC. Holding off a tough challenge from
MOT and COW, manager Mark Findlay lead CEL to a triumph title victory.
"I'm absolutely ecstatically over the moon about winning the SESL Div 1
title" said CEL boss Mark Findlay today. "The last couple of weeks I have been looking over
my shoulder at MOT and COW with the lead changing hands, and a touch of shocking
controversy also!
Div 2 is won by DUMBARTON DEE, FOR & ROS will join DUM in Div 1 in season 10, but spare a thought for KIL who just missed out on promotion.
To top of a good season, 3/25 MA Jacques Villeneuve and 2/29 FW Jean-Marc Bosman both netted 17 goals to become joint runners up in the individual scoring charts. "I am absolutely ecstatic to finish the season as Section Two champions", said Dumbarton manager Martin Fallon after the 4-0 victory over Alloa in the last game of the season. "Last year, when I took over as manager, we were second to bottom of the league and the club was in real danger of dropping into Section Three, but we managed to retain our place in Section Two and I knew then how good the team was." "Many people thought that I was mad at the start of the season when I stuck my neck out and said that Dumbarton would win the league, but here I am with a glass of Champagne in one hand and a trophy in the other." "I have to give credit to both Forfar and Dundee who pushed us hard this season, and I wish them the best of luck next season as they join us in the top flight. "The season is not over yet though and celebrations will be put on hold. We are in the last 16 of the SESL Cup, and are going to do our utmost to become the first Section Two side to win the cup, and the first side to complete a league and cup double."
