AcidImage by Red-Mercury is an awesome new image viewer for PalmOS. AcidImage supports multiple formats: JPEGs, GIFs, Windows' BMPs, Sony's PGPs, MGI Photosuite Mobile format, and even their own, Red-Mercury's, format, often used for background images in their own programs!

The screenshot above shows the control panel where you can specify the types of files detected by AcidImage. When you run AcidImage, it automatically searches for all the formats you specify in the control panel and then gives you the list of the files found (see screenshot below). After searching for files, it then creates a small text file in /PALM/Programs/AcidImage directory with the list of folders where the images where found. This feature eases the search next time, as AcidImage will not have to search the whole directories again.

You're presented with the list, where you can check as many images you want to view and then press the "View" button to view them. Then, you can press "Up or Down" to view the PREVIOUS or NEXT images from the "checked" list. This feature is cool when you only want to go through few images, but, if you are wanting to view more than 20 or so images, pressing Up or Down can be tiresome. In this case, you choose the "Slideshow" feature. First, you check all the images you want to view, then press "Slideshow." On the slideshow menu, you can specify Delay, Loop, and Progress Meter. Delay can be 1s, 3s, 6s, 10s, 20s, 30s, 45s or 1min. You check Loop if the slideshow is to continue after reaching the last image. And, Progress Meter shows you a line-bar at the top indicating the "loading" of next image. Below is a screenshot of SlideShow control panel:

Image loading time is incredibly awesome. A 320 by 320 image takes about 5 seconds to load. Loading time even feels shorter when using the SlideShow feature. After the image has loaded, you're allowed to rotate the image, and, zoom in and out.

Between the Rotate feature and Zoom feature, only Zoom feature is useful, because PalmOS devices have "SQUARE" screen, so Rotating isn't going to do any good at all. Only HandERA 330 can take advantage of the Rotate feature! AcidImage does support the high-resolution of Sony Clies, as you can tell from the screenshots above. Well, that said, have fun with AcidImage and show off your memories. You can download a 15-day free trial from Red-Mercury.
