13/02/2002 How good does this program look? It's called EarthWatch and will hopefully be released soon- here's the web site (not English).

13/02/2002 One of the few PDA related magazines available from your newsagent in the UK is PDA Essentials which has just released it's second issue. It comes with a CD containing over 350 PDA programs and on the whole is a very interesting read apart from the odd minor error such as the new Handspring Visor Pro being fitted with a 16-bit backlit colour monochrome screen? More details here. Out of interest, anyone know what happened to the magazine Mobile Computer User?

13/02/2002 Designsbybert.com have updated their Deluxe Icon Set for Action Names yet again- this version contains a whopping 413 icons of which many have been requested by users. More details here.

13/02/2002 Here's a game really worth looking at- 9 Ball Pinball. Comment from developer- 9-Ball Pinball with its excellent graphics, sound and super fluid animation, represents over 2000 hours of development effort and is undoubtedly the most realistic pinball simulation available for the PalmOS. I agree- very very good fun. Get it here.

13/02/2002 Remember Qubix? Take a look at PDATreasure's site- you can download a superb looking hi-res version of the game to try out- full registration is $12.95.

13/02/2002 An unofficial 'fixed' version of WAClock has been placed on nXt's Yahoo Group. This solves the problem where alarms would not sound when required.

13/02/2002 My son Tom (above) kindly decided to test the durability of the Clies by throwing mine down the stairs this morning. It travelled down 21 stairs and landed on the wooden floor at the bottom. Result- not a scratch and a perfectly working N770CU- no doubt this was partly down to luck but it is a testament to the build quality of the unit. Bless him!

12/02/2002 Here's an interesting site- not much of it is in English but it has some good pictures of the possible next generation Clie and the upcoming Palm OS 5.

12/02/2002 Purple Software have been around for a long time supplying software to the PDA industry- they produced some of the early Psion software including Chess, Yacht etc. and have now, fortunately, ported a lot of their original software over to the Palm platform including Chess, Backgammon, Checkers etc.- have a browse around their site for more information.

12/02/2002 Here's a very British game- it's called WordsPlus and is a version of that 'only watch when you are off work sick' TV gameshow Countdown. It's lo-res but features the words and numbers games plus the final conundrum. Well worth a look.

11/02/2002 Punk has done yet another review- this time for Acid Image which is now on the Software Reviews page. Red Mercury have offered a free registration to this excellent image viewer for the best review done by Friday 15th February- Acid Image can display JPEGs, GIFs, Windows' BMPs, Sony's PGPs, MGI Photosuite Mobile format, and even their own, Red-Mercury's, formats which can all be accessed from the Memory Stick. So, do you want Punk to win all of the prizes? Perhaps it's time to have a go at reviewing yourself and get this excellent program free. Hopefully I will be able to run a competition each week if developers are willing.

11/02/2002 Email received from Eric So "Bought my Clie 770C/U from John Lewis (Southampton) for £298. The local Dixon store has a price reduction for the clie at £298. I asked John Lewis to match the price and they did ! I have two years warranty and free ampified Sony speakers as well."

11/02/2002 Tomeraidit is now available from tomeraidit.com. Here's a description sent to me by the developers:- Ever wanted to create your own compressed Tomeraider files? Well now you can - with Tomeraidit! Tomeraidit will zip through files/folders/html in an instant, ready to import into Tomeraider. Then simply transfer to your PDA (Palm, Pocket PC or Psion) and take your information with you! How? TOMERAIDIT recursively parses directories, stripping out redundant tags from HTML files - reformatting them to create an output file is easily imported into Tomeraider. Raw text is kept intact, so too are Hyperlinks, bold, italic and underline formatting plus horizontal rules and bullet points. Cost- £10 for full version.

11/02/2002 Cezarex has posted details of 550 Color Icons for Action Names 1.0 now being available again in the Clie World Forum- the number of icons has been slightly reduced but they are free- what more could you want? Get it here.

11/02/2002 Pocket City 0.10 is a clone of the very popular Sim City. It's lo-res but is free and very good fun. Take a look.

10/02/2002 Peanut Reader has been updated to v 3.1.1 which adds the ability to read Palm(tm) handheld Doc formatted books- details and download at Palm Boulevard.

10/02/2002 Never get lost in the UK again- TomTom have available City Maps and Route Planner for the Palm/Clie- I have used their Psion software for years and can recommend the quality- have a look at their Palm area.

10/02/2002 Here's a game worth looking at- it's called Aldon's Crossing and it's described as a Rich and Detailed RPG Game for the palm with a great story and many features- it's free and available here.

09/02/2002 Who wants to be a millionaire? I certainly do- well soon you will able to have a go yourself on your Clie or Palm. Eidos will soon be releasing a version for Palm Powered devices. You can download a PC Demo from here.

09/02/2002 Here's a good lo-res game from LudiGames called Saturn Strike. The graphics are excellent, you only get 1 life per game which makes it a real challenge but the gameplay is very addictive and it only costs $5. Download it here.

09/02/2002 If you are after Clie Paint nXT's Yahoo Group has a copy ready for you to download. They also have Picture Gear 2.1 which allows you to edit photographs and images already held on your Clie. This program is great fun and well worth a download.

08/02/2002 A forum has been set up (see left panel) for UK Clie users to chat and give advice to other users as well as hopefully spreading information as to how we can get accessories and the latest hardware in the UK. If you have any ideas for topics etc. please let me know.

08/02/2002 Action Names 5.1 has been released by Iambic.com. It's currently Clie World's 'App of the month' and includes the following new features:- TODO's/Call Alarms can now be incremented in one minute increments. One-handed dialing of contact's phone number for all PDA-Phones. Added ability to colorize categories other than default to do categories business, personal, and unfilled. Icons added for incoming|outgoing|missed mobile phone calls in Contact History. Expanded mode in Contact List view allowing you to see all of your contact's information. Made Contact on first line only feature always on when in multiline mode. Added Tap and Hold to display the time on the title. There are also a ton of bug fixes to boot- this program is near perfect (in my opinion)

08/02/2002 Douglas VanOast has released 600+ Color Icons for Action Names 1.0. They are available at PalmGear and include sets for Business, Financial, Recreational and Computer use. They are free as well which is unusual.
