23/03/2002 I mentioned the new eBook 'Piloting Palm' the other day and thought I would let you know about the accompanying web site here which will include extra chapters and outtakes- worth a look.
23/03/2002 Interesting game- Faces 1.0 has been released- "Faces is a funny Tetris-type game.On each level of the game you have five faces of some celebrities such as Simpsons or Star Wars Heroes. Each face is sliced into four pieces: top, eyes, nose and mouth, chin and neck. Randomly chosen piece drops slowly from the top of the game board. You can move this left or right using the hard keys of your device." Available at PalmGear.

22/03/2002Emails received from Joel Suplido & Gabe with details of Apple's new Bluetooth compatability- "Come April, enabling Bluetooth on your Mac D-Link Bluetooth USB Adapter will be simpler than you can imagine. You will download Apple’s Bluetooth software, and plug in the D-Link DWB-120M Bluetooth USB Adapter to any available USB port on your PowerBook G4, iBook, PowerMac G4 or iMac (in the case of the PowerMac G4 and iMac, you can attach the Bluetooth USB Adapter to the free USB port on your keyboard)." 21/03/2002 You may have experienced some difficulties viewing the site today- this was due to a problem with my Domain suppliers server. UK Online have had no problems so it may be worth bookmarking the main URL- http://web.ukonline.co.uk/shaun.mcgill/clieworld.htm which will bypass the domain if problems arise in the future. Apologies for any inconvenience experienced today- looks OK now.
21/03/2002 Astraware have made available a beta version of Astraware Mahjongg that supports Clie hi-res. It's available here- you will have to join their forum but this game looks superb! Thanks to Laurence and James for the information.

21/03/2002 Thanks to Gabe for the following email- "I ran across this game called AnimalPunch...freeware Every wanted to beat up a Pokemon character? (hehe) Very simple b/w game, all based on your reaction speed. The opponents get progressively harder/faster. If you're good you can get in the 1-2 punch! :) Good for a few laughs. There is an Eng. txt file included in the zip. -I'm going to keep it on the MS for a while and use it at work as stress-relief. ;) My 3-game highscore is 8790 (Hoppi Kangaroo is quick!)"

19/03/2002 PLBM Games have released AckAck Attack- "Defend your base against airborne assault! Shoot down hostile enemy helicopter and paratroopers before they land and destroy your bunker!". It's good fun and well worth the $9.95 registration. It's available here along with some other good games such as Island Hopper and Planet Lander.

19/03/2002 Here's an interesting application called TAKEphONE 3.50. It's a wrapper for the Palm OS address-book application, designed to enhance & simplify the most common tasks: Finding phone numbers & Creating/editing contacts.These tasks can be done without the use of a stylus, and with just a few taps on the screen. 18/03/2002 Todays interview is with Scott Corley of Red Mercury- one of the first developers to embrace the Clie's enhanced features. You can read the whole interview here which is very detailed and gives a good insight into the company.
18/03/2002 The Clie World Store is now open- it will start off slowly and with minimal stock but as the demand grows so will the number and type of items available- click the 'Clie Store' logo in the main banner to take a look.
18/03/2002 Thanks to Gabe for imforming me that PGConverter is now available which converts PGPocket images for use with a MAC. You can download it here. This is the same company that makes PGViewer.
18/03/2002 Cezarex has emailed to advise that QuickWrite has now been updated to version 2.00. It has the following new features- Support for hi-res devices like Sony Clie and Handera MMC and SD cards support plus automatic search for installed vocabulary databases. Download here.
18/03/2002 If you are after more information on Sony's new NR series here's a good place to start. It's the Japanese User Club's NR series link page which contains a lot of links to various pages that have detailed photos and specs of these new machines. It would be an idea to translate the page first as it's in Japanese- use the search tool to find the previous news article which detailed how to do this- keyword 'translate'.
18/03/2002 A Clie World search tool is now up and running- it works well and is fast and accurate. Expect a more sophisticated version in the near future- you can do a search from the 'Site Search' button in the main logo.
17/03/2002 You have probably noticed that Clie World has had a bit of a re-design. Bert's logo has now been placed on every page and you can now visit each section by clicking the images in the main banner at the top. There have been various other minor improvements throughout the site and I would be interested in your comments regarding the new design.
Competition winners 17/03/2002 Well, what can I say. I'm overwhelmed by the amount of effort people have put into designing their logos. As you can see Bert Austin's logo now sits at the top of the site but he's not the only winner- Clark Fralick and George Birman's logos will be used throughout the site as the pages grow. Clark's will also be used on business cards and letterheads. Jason Goldman was also very impressed and has offered a copy of 300 Bowl to ALL of the people who took the time to produce their logos (what a nice bloke!). 17/03/2002 The Clie Store should be up and running tomorrow and will include full details of all of the accessories available- supplies may be limited at the start (first come first served) but as the interest grows so will the inventory. Initially you will require a PayPal account to buy which is free to sign up for.
17/03/2002 There's a very interesting post on Clie Source at the moment. Dieselman has managed to play ATRAC3 files on a standard blue memory stick- the result: same sound quality and 54 songs on a 128mb stick instead of 30!!!
This Week's Competition 17/03/2002 This week's competition will also be news and design based- the prizes are MegaLauncher (thanks Arthur) and 300 Bowl (thanks Jason)- these are the entries I am looking for:- New design for the dividers between the daily news articles (needs to be small and perhaps just a monogram of 'Clie World')Icons- would be nice to have some 'small' icons in each article for Competition / News / Software / Clie Store / Reviews and the Forum- they would all have to be consistent and fit in well with the general design of the site- this is a big job! News articles Hints & tips (anyone solved the N7 series flip cover problem?)Reviews of hardware and software Basically- send in anything Clie related!

16/03/2002 I had a play with FlugLotse 0.9 today which is an Air Traffic Control simulation "Planes enter your area and your task is to guide them to their destinations." Worth a look for $5.
