Camel's Homeland - Somalia

Did you know that in Somalia, the largest population of camel in one country is husbanded?. The camel population of Somalia was estimated at 6.5 million before the disaster was yet to happen.  However, a change might have occurred, during the hard years of civil war. A preliminary study based on interviews with stock owners in central Somalia regions revealed a reduction in camel population density, during the years of 1991-1994. This study was .
Although this is not a conclusive result, it atleast is an evidence of a problem. In some areas, in fact, an increase in camel population was recorded at the moment that, this observation was made.
