VOTING REGISTERS and LIVING PERSONS
If you are looking for living relatives or relatives who
may have lived in a certain area of England and Wales during the last ten
years, then Voting Registers can be an excellent source for finding them.
Original Voting Registers are kept in the County Library archives to which
they pertain and in the main are free to physically search.
However in recent years the Voting Registers for 2005 are now online and available to search or purchase. The Website
for the Voting Registers and Telephone Directories is a subscription based
service. Click on the link for further details.
PEOPLE DIRECTORIES - LIVING
PERSONS
The internet holds many people directories which are free
to search and just require free registration. Please be aware that
not all citizens appear in the telephone directories as there is a choice
of being ex-directory.
Other possible people search websites are available which
cover schools, army, airforce and navy and even friends and family who
may have emigrated.

EARLY VOTING REGISTERS
POLL REGISTERS
Poll Registers are early Voting Registers, although, compared
with modern-day voting registers, there was one huge difference.
Women were not allowed to vote and therefore do not appear in the Registers.
Otherwise these can be a valueable souce of the males residing in the voting
areas.
Some Poll Registers survived and the originals can
be found in archives in Local Record Offices or at the Public Record Office.
Certain indivuals have kindly indexed a few Poll Registers and these are
available to download from the Internet. Click on the links to download
now.
