My Report will in the interests of brevity, be very short this year, because most of my work has been dealt with elsewhere in the meeting, however there are a few important points that I would like to raise and they are: - NFSA Development Plan: We have this year produced with the other Governing Bodies a Joint Development Plan for Angling, which shares 36 strands common to all three Disciplines. The Sea Angling Specific Plan has been accepted by the NFSA Executive and will be presented to the Standing Committee at its next meeting in June. We have in the past been sometimes scathing of Sport England, but they told us clearly that if we were to work together and cut out duplication of effort, they would increase our Grant Aid. I am glad that this has been achieved; we have had increased Grant Aid this year, in real terms from £30,000 to £46,000. In actual fact this year we receive £34,000 with the balance going to part fund the development Work of our Joint Development Manager Mick Owen, but next year 2002 we will receive an amount of £47,000. It is expected and I will be pressing our other partners the S&TA and the NFA to make sure that the new plan will become a rolling plan, which will be revisited every year against targets. This will provide us with a much more stable relationship with Sport England and a working plan not only for those areas that Sport England fund but for all the other work that we will have to find funds for ourselves. Earlier this year someone at a IM Meeting asked where our business plan was, and at that time I replied we are working on it, no doubt he thought that this was just a political statement, I do wish he were here today so that I could place this document before him. The Specimen Awards: The entries were up this year and this is due to the weigh at sea category which is growing steadily, and the review of specimen weights will take place as usual in June, I would therefore invite all divisions to send their amendments to the head office as soon as possible in order that they may be agreed at the June meeting. Web Site: - I am pleased to report that the NFSA Web Site will be up and running within weeks, certainly by the end of June, and the first drafts of the first pages are on the display boards. I am pleased to say that we have secured the help of Colin Bond who with Hilary will be "joint web masters" and keep the site fresh. We are indebted to member Mike Concannon who has spent days in our office in order to make sure that we set off on the right track, and provide a bright, clear easy to use and informative site. Severn Division: The Severn division ceased operations last year, due to the lack of persons prepared to commit to becoming Officers of the Division, but I am glad to say that renewed interest has meant that a meeting will be held in late June when it is hoped enough enthusiastic members will be found to form a Committee. Junior of the Year: The junior of the year award this year was awarded jointly to brother and sister Chloe and Scott Rice of the Honiton Club and they will receive their award at the next Wyvern Divisional Meeting. Finally I thank all the officers, my colleges, the staff at the office and not least the members who have made this year an interesting and very busy one - Thank you. David Rowe. |
