ASTRONAUT SIGHTING
Several astronauts are reputed to have seen strange objects while in space.
James McDivitt (Gemini & Apollo astronaut) had an encounter in June 1966. While in
orbit above the Earth he saw an unidentified flying object.
In a TV interview, which was screened on 'Sightings', he gave his version of this unusual
event.
"I happened to glance out, one time, and there against the black sky was a white
object. The geometry of it was sort of like a beer can or a coke can, with a pencil
sticking out of one of the round edges at about a 45 degree angle."
What was it ? We shall probably never be told. McDivitt was able to snap a few pictures
but after turning the film over to NASA the photographs disappeared.
LAS VEGAS VIDEO
Many photographs of UFO's exist but they are usually of very poor
quality. With the popularity of video cameras, there exists more scope than ever before to
record strange objects and events onto film.
One such 'interesting event' took place near Las Vegas in early 1991. Featured on
'Sightings', this home movie shows three lights flying above the distant mountains. The
lights appear to 'dance' in the sky and move around unlike any known powered craft.
This still from the video shows two (of the original three) lights over the mountains near
Las Vegas.
GULF BREEZE SIGHTINGS
The famous Gulf Breeze sighting started in November 1987, and so began one of
the most controversial episodes of recent UFO times.
Ed Walters & his wife Francis had some amazing experiences with strange craft. Ed also
had contact with strange 'robot-type' creatures and discovered that he had been frequently
abducted since childhood. Ed got the impression that the craft he saw and photographed
really wanted to be seen and recorded on film !
Here are some of Ed's (in)famous photographs.

Many people find it difficult to believe such sensational evidence of alien existence. It
has been argued that these photos were tampered with and are pure fakes yet they have
passed some stringent tests.
Dr Bruce Macabee, an expert photo analyst, spent several months investigating these and
other photos. He considers that, coupled with the testimony of Ed & his family and the
very intensive investigation by MUFON, these photographs are not a hoax.
CROP CIRCLES
The crop circle phenomenon was first reported during modern times in 1973.
There have been over 5000 reported and documented cases of formations throughout the
world, with some 90% of them coming from England, and many more go unreported each year.
Many circles have been linked to UFO activity. Recent footage on video,
caught by an amatuer, reveals that one particular large diagram was made in a little over
7 seconds! This video is now being studied by experts. Some sightings indicate globes of
light that move quickly over a field with something in the way of a beam touching the
field to produce the specific diagrams. There is a picture of a red, white and orange
glowing "plasma" craft in Mexico that is also being studied.
The answer to the crop circle phenomenon is still not known. Several people claim to have
constructed the UK crop circles - and they have, indeed, occasionally fooled the 'experts'
with some of their efforts. Whilst they certainly were responsible for some of the 'hoax
circles', it is unlikely that they could have had the necessary skill, endurance and time
to do them all.

CATTLE MUTILATIONS
Autumn of 1973 saw the birth of the cattle mutilation phenomenon. Reports of dead animals
started to crop up all in Minnesota and Kansas. All these reports had one thing in common,
they all had vital body parts missing and they had been removed cleanly and precisely. In
many cases the cattle had been sucked dry of blood without a drop being spilled. There was
never any sign of footprints or human presence at the scenes - even in the case of one
carcass which was found in a mud hole which has led many to look for other answers.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation found the only solid piece of evidence,
a blue satchel - similar to those used by government officials. It was found next to a
ranchers mailbox in Lincoln County and contained medical gloves, a bloody scalpel and a
cows ear . However no fingerprints could be found and the ear did not match any reported
cattle mutilations. This did however add fuel to the conspiracy theorists fire. There were
also claims that unmarked helicopters were seen flying low over cattle mutilation sites
In 1979 an FBI investigation, costing $40,000 concluded the deaths to be down to predators
and scavengers. Depending on whom you asked cattle mutilations can be explained by
mass-hysteria, government experiments or aliens claiming their side of the bargain in a
'technology for cow parts' exchange.
The unexplained death tally is alleged to number many more than two thousand and has been
experienced in most agricultural states
Eduard 'Billy' Meir
Eduard Meir was a Swiss labourer and he was considered eccentric
because of his inexplicable visits to forests near his home. In the 1970's he became one
of ufology's most controversial figures when he disclosed that he was communicating with
extraterrestrial from the Pleiades star cluster. In spite of his notoriety he attracted
many followers.
He took many pictures of spacecraft which were of a clarity rarely seen in UFO circles.
Even his detractors have to concede that if they are fake, they are remarkably clever.
