A PIR detector works by detecting changes in infrared light in its'
field of view.
PIR detectors are used in burglar alarms to detect intruders body heat.
The devices themselves are simple electronic components not unlike
a photosensor.
Since the PIR detector produces a distinct output signal it
can be used in conjunction with a relay to trigger any other device. Which
is very usefull in interactive installations.
