About HDWS

What we do

We play games with model soldiers. Games cover a wide variety of periods, from the distant past to the far future, using figures and board games.

Miniatures

We play many periods, rules and scales. New ideas are welcome; we're generally prepared to try most things at least once.

There are a number of games which are consistent favourites with particular members, and there will usually be one or two of these happening on any given night:

Ancients using Warhammer Ancient Battles and Vis Bellica.
Seven Years' War using Warfare in the Age of Reason.
American Civil War using Fire and Fury.
Mid-19th Century European Wars using In the Age of Bismarck and Napoleon III.
World War II using Crossfire and Battlefront: WWII.
Fantasy with Warhammer Fantasy Battle.
Science Fiction with Battletech and Warhammer 40,000.

Role-Playing Games

HDWS meetings generally don't directly involve role-playing games. There are, however, a couple of role-playing groups which also meet at the Montagu Club. One meets on Thursdays from 7pm to 11pm, the same time as HDWS. The other meets on Mondays from 7pm to 11pm.
