Here are a list of possible problems and suggested solutions for the Blizzard 603e and BVision (These work for me, they might work for you but I accept no responsibility for any damage that may be caused as a result of implementing any of them).

NEW

WarpOS V4.0 has been released and is available from the Haage&Partner Website.

The first commercial PPC game Eat the Whistle PPC has been released and the update is available free from aminet, or from the link on this page, for registered users.

AmigaAmp v2.5 available from Aminet.

Notes for WarpOS & Warp3D from H&P

1) WarpOS crashes left, right and centre without the new CGX3 drivers from Phase5.

2) Warp3D doesn't work without the new CGX3 drivers from Phase5.

3) WarpOS does not work with the PPC version of the cgxsystem.library, so use the 040 version if you want to run WarpOS.

4) Set the Termination environment variable to 2 for the best compatibilty if you want to continue using PowerUP.

5) Ensure USESEMAPHORES is set to on in the CGX3 prefs if you want to use Warp3D.

6) I have managed to get all of the above working well on my system and I am very impressed by Warp3D, so hopefully this will mean the advent of faster and better games for the miggy, the only Warp3D game available atm is WarpDescent which runs extremely fast on a 15bit 640x480 screen (at least twice as fast as the PPC version I usually use).

603e 160/060 48mb Ram

NOTE : If you are using 3.0 Roms a lot of problems can be fixed by upgrading to 3.1.

A great deal of software failures can be solved by increasing your stack to 200000
Use version 40.16 of Setpatch (the last to be released by Commodore)
Use the Maths libraries that are on your Workbench Disks
Try deactivating any patches activated at bootup

Problem : My IDE 4 Way Buffered Interface stopped working properly, sometimes failing to boot completely on upgrading the FlashRom to V46.

Solutions :

1) Switch of the cache in the boot menu (enter by holding down both mouse buttons on reboot).
Success Rate : 100%

2) Insert some lines before the setpatch command in the Startup Sequence. (suggest using Startup Selector or installing the IDE Fix CD32 HD as these do the same thing)
Success Rate : 99%

3) Boot from a Floppy.
Success Rate : 100% (not very practical though)

4) Upgrade to new V46 FlashRom.
Success Rate : 70% (puts a delay in the boot process but can cause probs with setpatch (see 2))

BlizVision

Problem : The machine won't boot, and if it does, it is very unstable.

Solutions :

1) Make sure the Amiga Motherboard is getting enough power (it needs 5 amps to function properly)

2) Power the Motherboard from a different power lead from the peripherals.

3) Power the Tower directly from the Mains and not from a Power Strip, and power up with no other peripherals switched on.

4) Check the Revision of your Motherboard (1.d.4 m/b's have a timing fault which can cause problems). If you suspect a timing fault, Eyetech can fix it for £30.

5) Remove add-ons until the machine boots and note which add-on is conflicting and inform Phase5 or the company that supplied the add-on.

6) Cry.

7) Remove everything and re-install one thing at a time until the system stops working.

8) Cry some more.

9) Try cooling the Permedia 2 with a fan cooler just in front of the chip (Thanks to Ben Yoris for that one).

10) start from (1) again.

Problem : On 24Bit Workbench the pallete is corrupted or causes the machine to Crash.

Solutions :

1) Install the latest version of the picture.datatype (V43).

2) Re-install CyberGraphx and make sure you have selected the correct Graphics Board.

3) install version 38.1 (the last to be released by Commodore) of mathieeedoubas.library.

Problem : It doesn't work.

1) Ensure you install Flashrom Update from the Floppy supplied with the card as the Blizvision will not operate without the latest version. (also available from the Phase5 website).

2) Ensure you install the correct FlashRom Update from the Floppy.

3) Once started, DO NOT ABORT the update, you'll cook your FlashRom if you do.

4) Ensure CyberGraphx has been installed correctly.

5) Check the cables and all connections.

6) Phone the Samaritans ;)

Problem : MUI crashes more often than it used to.

Solution :

1) Re-install it.

2) Re-install everything else.

3) Pray to whatever deity you follow.

4) E-Mail the author of MUI and wait for a reply (I've been waiting for a week now)

Problem : It doesn't display any of the AGA screenmodes.

Solution :

1) Use a Mode Promotor such as Mode Pro.

2) Use a second monitor on the RGB socket.

Problem : I'm not spending enough time with my Family and Friends.

Solution :

1) Explain to them that you have just upgraded your Miggy and they really should be more understanding.

2) Lock the door so you can't here them shouting at you.

I hope these problems/solutions will be of some help to anyone who is having problems, if not and you are at your wits end you can contact me on the links page.
