St. Michael & All Angels, Norton, Stourbridge

Sunday 31st December 2006

No. 2436

The Old Year comes to a close, and it causes many to reflect over what kind of a year you've had. A Christmas card we received from a Southampton family whose eldest son just aged 18 was blown to pieces in the London bombings on the Tubes in July; recent funerals I conducted just before Christmas. My heart breaks for them as the season of festivities highlights their loss and the grief they carry.

Above the disappointments, we trust and serve a faithful God - He knows the end from the beginning. As someone said, "I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds the future."

We move on into the New Year believing in a 'Great Big God'.

'Let's believe in great things from God
Let's expect great things of God in 2007'

A very happy and blessed New Year
to you.
