TT Brakes:

If there is one failing on a Soarer it has to be the brakes, maybe this is because the original Japanese specification had the car limited to 112mph (180kph). Even if this was the case the brakes do not instill confidence at anything beyond moderate speeds and are spectacularly poor nearer to the cars potential top speed of around 160mph.

The sliding calipers fitted to the fronts are not really suited to the performance, replacing these with the larger 1995 Supra Twin Turbo 320mm Discs and 4 pot calipers are a straight forward bolt-on job, reports from Mike Rea and Iain Wiltshire (both LSOC members) are very favorable. The cost can be prohibitive at around £650 for the front set. Harder grade pads could be considered as an alternative to fitting the Supra TT brakes.

14" (356mm) Discs with 6 Pot Calipers

These brakes for the Supra TT will fit the Soarer, the cost is over £2,000 for a front set.

It has been said that this set-up will not work with the Soarer's ABS system but as the ABS is sensed from behind the hub I fail to see why this would be the case.

Removing Rear Discs (Rotors)

Remove the road wheel and brake caliper, the disc will be securely held by rust around the hub, try giving it a few blows with a copper mallet to loosen it up.
