EASOM MEET April 2002 |

| The Eastern Meet
organised by Mongoose (Richard Thompson from Rayleigh in Essex), was held
at the Horse & Groom Pub, Writtle nr, Chelmsford. We have to thank
Richard for spending all of Friday night (and 3/4 tank of petrol), driving
around Essex looking for a Chef & Brewer pub with a decent sized car
park, as it turned out it was lucky we got there early as it soon filled
up. It was a fantastic day for everyone, warm in the sun and cool & breezy
in the shade. After lunch we went for a 5 car cruise (biggest ever in the
UK to date) to Danbury to get photos without the bloody Volvo's getting in
the shot, Volvo's are like that nutter that always seems to be in the
background on your holiday snaps (what do you mean he looked like me, I
have never been to Spain). Big Mike came along with HID & the kids (
they where very good, I even sat next to one of them), when I say big Mike
he is 6' 7" and he says the Soarer is one of the few cars he can fit
in (no sunroof gives him that extra headroom).
6 Soarer's was the count an equal split of V8 and TT, 3 Green, one each of Red Met, Silver and the Silvery Blue/Green, in attendance; Big Mike, Zena & the kids - Green TT, also from Rayleigh (Mike threatens his kids by telling them they will go and live with Bill if they are not good). Jeff Tate - Silvery blue/green TT (6M3 - Imperial? ) was down from Doncaster for a family visit and could not miss out on a beer with the boys. Erol - Red V8 made the trip up from "The Smoke". Alan & Janice - Silver V8 with 5 spoke alloys, from Canvey Island. Me & Ann - Green TT (still battered but at least polished & shiny, the car that is, not HID). Last but no means least, Richard & Cathy - 94 Green V8 with 97 front end and Big Thanks for putting us up over the weekend. Congratulations are in order for Richard as he has just completed his final audit for ISO 9001 qualification on Friday and managing to organise the meet during a very busy week. |
