Power Steering Pump - Seal Replacement:
|
To replace the leaking seals on the pump, take of the serpentine belt, remove pump, clean thoroughly, move to bench.
Strip of the bolt-on parts, pulley & connections, remove front circlip & seal. Remove rear end case, from the rear the parts in here can be removed using needle nose pliers, watch out for the vanes as they will fall out of the rotor, if you are not replacing these I would make sure they go back in with the same face outermost as they are bedded against the pump wall.
I cant recall which way the second circlip and the bearing is extracted but it will be obvious once the vanes & rotor are removed. This job is not hard, just a little tricky, the seal pack we had from Toyota had a couple of different types of seal, but this was explained on the packet.
