Mink based line
This line is breeding towards the havana colour, but gives many other colours while we are breeding towards it!
Havana is a relatively new colour (still guide standard in the UK), and the genetics of it are uncertain at the moment. From researching it, it has been linked with semi-dominance of the red eye dilute gene, which only occurs when the animal is also homozygous for the mink gene. In other words, a mink rat can't carry red eye dilute like other colours - it is lightened to havana. I also hope to breed havana agoutis in this line too, and will have other colours such as mink, cinnamon, buff, and topaz. I also have silver black and agouti animals from this line.
This line is mainly self animals, but it does have some Irish marked animals - with Hawthorn Mogwai gaining a star at her first NFRS show!
