Look at the list above and decide which category the video you are looking for is likely to be in.  To try and assist you further we have broken down those videos recorded by Roy and those recorded from the TV into sub-categories.

The sub-categories are intended as a guide.  We have tried to make them as comprehensive as we can but it is possible that we have catalogued a video in a category that you may feel inappropriate as some videos could go in more than one. Therefore please check other categories if a video you feel should be in our library is not in the category you assumed it would be in.

For section 2, Roy Spence’s Archive of Egyptian Material, it was not possible to index each separate recording he made as this task would have been immense considering the amount of material.  We have therefore left the cataloguing as Roy himself indexed them but have tried to put the major recordings into the sub-categories mentioned above.

To order any of the videos simply phone the SSAE Librarian Paul Lappage on (0115) 923 5912 quoting the video's reference number, its title (if one) and your name.

It has not been possible to provide a brief outline of the video's contents. However, most are obvious from their title, but if in any doubt please feel free to phone Paul Lappage on (0115) 923 5912 for further information.

NB: Some of the videos have been recorded at high speed, most modern video players can facilitate this but you may have problems with older machines. It has not been possible in the time taken to identify which are recorded at high speed.

Please note that all the following videos are copyrighted and are therefore for the private use of Society members only.

Videos must not be played, copied or replayed for profit. The videos are for academic and personal use only. If a member wishes to copy any of the following videos they must first seek the permission from the person or organisation holding the copyright.

For SSAE videos, the copyright is held by the Society itself and members must first seek the permission of the Committee before attempting to copy or show the video outside the membership.

All other videos are the sole copyright of the company who made the original programme or of the TV company that broadcast it.  Their permission must be sought if you wish to copy or show the video to members of the public.

Neither the Committee nor the SSAE will be held responsible if a member breaks any copyright rules or laws.
