Lost radio plays
Over the years, thousands of radio plays (and other programmes) have gone missing.
Before the year 2000, most radio plays (well over 90% in each year) were not
kept by the BBC. If they still exist it will be in private collections
only. Here are lists of missing plays ... please email if you can
supply recordings for archiving. Those marked "FOUND" have been located and
safety copies made.
When "Afternoon Theatre" was replaced by the Afternoon Play
in 1984, the policy of throwing away most recordings after two or
three broadcasts continued. Although this list (1961-2008) is now complete,
our archive collection of recordings contains more gaps than plays.
So far, I have
no listing for the Monday Play or for plays from Radio 3 ... can anyone help?
