English Apples - Wyken Pippin
| ||
|
Seedling raised at Wyke, near Coventry, Warks, in the 1700s. Parent of Laxton's
Superb. The apple doesn't look very impressive; it's small, flat and yellow, but
the flavour is very good and the texture is firm. G.D. adds that the variety is the
basis of the pole trees raised at East Malling research Station. This doesn't
surprise me because my own tree produces very very few side branches.
