| The Scafells from Three Tarns |

| After the easier section there followed another steep climb up the stony, eroded path to Three Tarns, where we stopped to admire the views of the Scafells and Bowfell Links. It looks from here as if Scafell Pike could be reached by a simple stroll, the deep trench of Eskdale not being apparent. |
