| Looking up Eskdale towards Scafell |

| We parked at bottom of Hardknott and walked via Brotherikeld farm to the top of Eskdale. The path started pleasantly alongside the Esk, and we continued along the right bank to the small packhorse bridge at Lingcove. This is one of my favourite walks, incorporating the gentle green fields of Eskdale with the wilder scenery of the upper valley. |
