These pages aren't meant to give detailed descriptions of the walks, just a rough outline. They are really only a vehicle for some of my pictures.
If you want to do the walks, the appropriate 1:25000 OS map is essentail, and I also suggest you study some or all of the following:
The Wainwright pocket guides. They are still relevent after forty years, and no walker should be without them.
Bob Allen's books 'On High Lakeland Fells' and 'On Lower Lakeland Fells'.
Colin Shelbourn's 'Great Walks - Lake District'.
Bill Birkett's 'Complete Lakeland Fells'.
In any case, considering my (largely unfounded, I hasten to add) reputation for getting lost, perhaps you shouldn't take too much notice of any directions I give you!
I am familiar with most areas of the Lakes. If anyone would like details or suggestions for a particular walk, please
mail me.
