A rural setting for a perfect holiday
Kellah Farm Cottages provide self-catering
holiday accomodation with open coal fires situated on a working hill farm
at Kellah, a former mining community, four miles from Haltwhistle, Northumberland
which is on the
A69 from Carlisle to Newcastle.
Excellent starting point
An ideal base for exploring Hadrian's
Wall Country, the North and South Tyne Valleys and walking in the Pennines.
The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are an hours drive away, and the Border
Counties of Scotland are also within easy reach.
Haltwhistle itself is on the main Carlisle-Newcastle railway line
and has an excellent range of services and shops as well as the nearest
public transport by bus.
A Beautiful place
There are many fascinating walks in the countryside and hills nearby,
including the Pennine Way which passes only a few hundred yards away, and
the South Tyne Trail which follows the disused railway line from Alston
passing over the newly restored Lambley Viaduct. Fishing, bird- watching and
pony-trekking are just a few of the many local attractions, and a
tour of the Roman Wall via the many local museums and visitor centres is
a must.
Interesting educational and fun
At Kellah, children are encouraged to have hands-on experience
of farming life by helping to feed the cattle, sheep and chickens as well
as observing the day-to-day activities on a busy hill farm. Parents too
can join in if they wish.
There is also is a games room with a pool table.
High Standards
All the cottages are inspected anually and graded by the
Tourist Board and have a range of equipment such as cots, high
chairs, fire-guards etc. making them suitable for all ages of family.
Two of the cottages Chapel View Cottage
and Kellah Cottage have recently been regraded
to 4 stars by the English Tourism Council, the other
achieve 3 stars
Practical
Arrangements can be made for ordering groceries and there is a telephone
box, post box and safe convenient parking in the farmyard.
Pets are accepted by agreement.
