It got too big. Not a complaint you often hear from a lady.
So, here's the rest.
spinne at 9:9:22 Saturday September 25 99
heya teddy... i hope ya get the obnoxious computer to work without too much trouble. and i'll be sure to toss a bar of swiss chocolate your way. or maybe some french truffles. ;)
Teddy at 20:44:2 Friday September 24 99
Glad somebody had a good day. I'm working tomorrow, 'cause of a 486 computer refusing to recognise a b**** CD-ROM drive :o( I was looking forward to a lot of web-updating too...... hell, where's the chocolate???? ~~~~~~~ Thanks for the EKP update, Hap, I'll get it UP if it kills me!
spinne at 4:26:18 Friday September 24 99
well.. trinna, i was about to do some serious geeking and see if i could break my freecell winning streak, but if ya want, i'll play starcraft or somethin with ya! :)
Dr. T at 4:20:15 Friday September 24 99
Just came from the EKP installment in the OKP. LOVED the "narratorial interference!!" Nice work, Hap! Also, just to keep everyone up to date, I actually had a GOOD DAY TODAY!!! WHOO-HOO! Or should I say "tra la la, la-la la la, tra la la, la-la la la!"? So, what's next? Shooting a new video? Hair care tips? Bra shopping? Count me in!
spinne at 4:16:12 Friday September 24 99
boy, that séan, i tell ya - in a word: serendipitous! "never mind the bruises, b'ys, we've got WHEELS!" ~~~~ *raises glass* here's to hoping they make it back to the kitchen safely! :D
Hap at 19:51:57 Thursday September 23 99
All right, Mich, because you asked: There is a new installment of the EKP up in the chatroom, under Zoe's "Thanks for all the welcomes" post. Note: Click on the second one. The first one is just one big honking link (because I am a ditz of high degree). ~~~ Spinne, you will be pleased to learn that Séan is happily (if painfully) in possession of the keys to the Bug. :)
spinne at 12:8:30 Thursday September 23 99
yaaahaaaayyyy!! it's sunny out today! eep, 7am, time to get rollin! :)
Mich at 6:1:54 Thursday September 23 99
I'm just hanging...fortunately, my week is almost over (and thank goodness for Thursdays off). Plus, I get to go shopping tomorrow (musical instument shopping, yippee!!)
Dr. T at 4:33:22 Thursday September 23 99
Hey Mich! I'm glad it's not just me...and your furnace...that needed to let off steam this week!! Hang in there!
Mich at 1:11:36 Thursday September 23 99
We figured out how to stop the awful furnace noise (other than simply shutting off all power to it. That was a little nippy last night, thank goodnes I'm used to life in the Arctic). The solution, get my dad to come home from his business trip. Suddenly no more noise (we also have the Furnace guy coming tomorrow). My dad goes away for a couple of weeks and everything falls apart. Trumpeting elephants in the basement, a car that is making a grinding noise that's louder than the furnace, and we mustn't forget the huge hole we seem to have acquired in our backyard. I'm hoping its raccoons, but with the way the skunks have been spraying (and I HAD to have my window open for the last one, didn't I??? Any ideas how to get a room to stop smelling like skunk? I don't think the tomato juice baths will be appropriate), I have a feeling Pepi-le-phew (sp?) has moved back in under our deck! Next week can only get better, right???~~~~~Sorry to vent, but you gotta admit, crappy couple of days~~~~~EEECK!! I just thought, I hope this string of bad luck doesn't apply to the GBS Tickets for Massey Hall that I am hoping to get or the whistle(s) I'm hoping to buy tomorrow (I can finally get to the music store and I am dying to try the music Fiona emailed me)!! What a week, and it's not even over yet!~~~~Thank-you for reading this far...My rant is now over and I have returned to my (almost sane) normal self. 8)
TrishQ at 23:22:34 Wednesday September 22 99
Cheechi! Are ye daft, girl? Of course it can get colder and it WILL. I'm shiverin' just thinkin' 'bout a good old Ottawa winter day. Yuk! I know what you mean tho'- it has been nice and bamm!- now it's downright chilly. I just TURNed on the scary furnace in the scary basement of this old house (no Bob Vila or trumpeting elephants in evidence- thank goodness!) At least there's the November Civic Centre concert to look forward to. :-)
spinne at 20:3:29 Wednesday September 22 99
sorry for the double-post, but christine, could you email me? pretty please?
spinne at 19:36:35 Wednesday September 22 99
*yaaawn streeeetch* i'm up now, i'm up. ;) ~~~~ also ready to tear my hair out, tryin to get tickets for toronto. seriously thinkin about puttin the cash out for a "friends of massey hall" membership thing. ;) someone convince me to step away from the credit card... ;)
Cheechi at 19:21:34 Wednesday September 22 99
Can it get any colder? Wait, don't answer that. I'm so freezing, but if a wrap myself in any more blankets I'll probably start to hyperventalate. I liked the Alan/dog too, at least it wasn't anything mortifying like the telescrubbies, or that other picture that gave me Spiceupyourgreatbigphobia. I swear if I get diagnosed with another phobia I'm going to be over-phobiaed (like I'm not already) Is it normal to have about ten phobias? I mean, even if they aren't *REAL* phobias, this is ridiculous!
TrishQ at 19:9:53 Wednesday September 22 99
Cripers! Did it again! That was me below.
Anon at 19:7:6 Wednesday September 22 99
ITA- I don' think hearing trumpeting elephants in the basement is a good thing. I know I hate it when those flippin' things get in down there! :-) ~~~~~~~ I don't know if there's anyone from TO in here Mich but there IS for sure in the OKP.~~~~~~~~Hmmm, did someone offer wine? I'll take some white, please. Red gives me a wicked headache (right away- not just the morning after :-( )~~~~~~~ Teddy- your Alandog creation from the OKP was wonderfully twisted. You never cease to amuse me!~~~~~Oh, and Spinne...(((((WAKE UP!!!))))) "chucking a boot at you, you lazy thing" she said extremely enviously!
Krysia at 17:28:25 Wednesday September 22 99
Spinne/Dr T: Well, I have to agree with Dr. T - I remember it as 'beer to liquor, never sicker; liquor to beer, never fear'. I think that meant liquor as in the hard stuff though - never heard one with wine. Dr T - Hope you're feeling better, and that at least it was a fun night!
spinne at 15:3:0 Wednesday September 22 99
happy wednesday, people... hope getting over the mid-week hump isn't too hard on ya. :) it doesn't look like it's raining here, so that's good. i think i'll be cheerful today. ;) ~~~~ mich - you might wanna have your furnace looked at. :) i don't think "trumpeting elephant" is on the list of friendly-furnace noises. :) ~~~~ anyway, it's easy for me to be cheerful today. because i'm going back to bed now, and don't actually have to be awake for another 4 hrs. ;) *duck and run*
Mich at 5:43:5 Wednesday September 22 99
Hate to double post, but if I dont type this now I'll forget...again. When a new installment is made to the Eternal Kitchen Party, can someone (whomever makes the addition) let me (us?) know in here?? Thanks
Mich at 5:41:17 Wednesday September 22 99
Just a totally unrelated question for you all...Is it a bad thing when your furnace suddenly starts sounding like a trumpeting elephant just as you are sitting down to check the Chat???~~~~~I just heard from Isa and she is coming to the Toronto show on Nov. 26 (provided I'm able to buy tickets for both of us. Visa is maxed out with school books at the moment, so I'm hoping mom and dad will let me "borrow" their's). Is anyone else here able to go??? I know Isa is trying to figure out how to spend the day -- I have to be in classes that day -- but I figure there has to be a GBS fan in T.O. that is able to take the whole day off, who can show her around (not to mention meeting me at Union Station and keep me from getting lost). Any takers?? I'll try and check in here before I phone her (she emailed me her number, not exactly safe, but oh well, what's done is done). I'm hoping this all works out (I'm getting extremely paranoid now that something will go wrong and it won't all work out fine. Totally neurotic. Time to go to bed and listen to Con Free a few million times8) ). 'Night all.
Alex at 22:34:12 Tuesday September 21 99
DrT, the old lady was ugly exactly like the one in the movie I mentioned......only with long,straight hair....thin and skinny.....I saw the bones under the skin....
And now I know your analysing this thing :)))
spinne at 4:32:38 Tuesday September 21 99
LOL!!!!! oh dear... the b'ys are gettin the run of the bug, huh? do i see alan riding shotgun? 0:) ~~~~ cheechi - i hope you're feeling better, and a lil more, uh... well-rested. ;) ~~~~ and trinna, the way i've heard it is "beer to wine and you'll be fine; wine to beer -- that's somethin to fear!" *pushes econo-sized bottle of advil and jug of water in t's direction*
Hap at 3:47:45 Tuesday September 21 99
Good grief, where did I leave the boys anyway? Are they still in Port-au-Port? (Wonder if the boots are broken in yet.) Actually, I've just been waiting for Fred to leave so I could slip Séan the keys to the Volkswagen. Um...not that I'm glad Fred's gone or anything. *sniff* Gimme' a chance to check the last entry, let me know the minute you spot a new face, and we'll resume the festivities! Now that it's getting a bit colder, there's bound to be more people staying indoors. Ooh, and we're heading into boot and jacket season! ~~~ A Word to the Wise: When engaging in backyard games with a dog that weighs twenty pounds more than you do, it really pays to learn the commands first, to say nothing of the rules to the game SHE wants you to play. I did finally get her to sleep at my feet while I put up some knickers for a market display - good Lord, she snores worse than my grandfather - but man of man do I reek of Newfoundland slobber. The things I get paid to do...
Cheechi at 2:58:8 Tuesday September 21 99
i MUST'VE JUST GRADUATED BECAUSE i SPELLED EAILY WRONG DOWN THERE AND NOW i'M TYPING IN cAPS BECAUSE i ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE BUTTON AND i'M TOO LAZY TO START OVER. i'M SORRY THAT EVERYTHING'S BACKWARDS ... i WISH YOU COULD HEAR ME LAUGHING RIGHT NOW ... i'VE BEEN LAUGHING FOR A BOUT AN HOUR AND i'M NOT SURE WHY ... MAYBE EVERYTHING'S JUST FIUNNY ALL OF A SUDDEN ... i CAN SPELL REALLY, i'M JUST EXTREMELY LAZY, AND IT'S BED TIME LIKE A i SAID BELOW, SO i'M PROBABLLY TIRED TOO ... you know it just occured to me to turn off the cap lock ... I'm going to go to sleep before I hurt myself ... sitting down just doesn't sound safe enough. Night all!!!!
Cheechi at 2:53:12 Tuesday September 21 99
What's with all the old ladies in everybody's dreams with GBS? And how can a hang-over have a hang-over? (I must remind everyone that you are talking to an almost non-alcoholic ... I only drink .5% coolers and strawberry daquiris) However, I do have a related GBQuote that got stuck in my head just now ... "52 beers before a show is 52 beers too many" -Alan, cause he forgot the words to a song. Anyway, bed time ... sleep sweet Ursula (George of the Jungle is my favorite movie ... I'm easily amused aren't I? Just like Alan and Sean are eaily distracted ... it must be the english majors ... maybe when I get my english major I'll become eaily distracted too ... *sigh* I can only hope) :P~
Dr. T at 23:47:17 Monday September 20 99
Great dream, Alex! But what did the old lady look like? I'm curious if it's one of the same old ladies that showed up in one of my GBDreams. I had to stop checking the chat before bed because it gave me such troubled sleep and such weird dreams.~~~~~~~~~Hey Hap! There's new people in the chat today :-), plus today's the day of Fred's departure :-( , so are we going to see any additions to the Eternal Kitchen Party? We're waiting!~~~~~~~~~And, just to round out my week of complaining, I'd like to announce that my hangover has a hangover! You know that adage, "Beer to Liquor, Never Sicker?" Believe it!~~~~~And Teddy, are we going to get a GBS-as-Banana-Splits picture to go with the current conversation in the OKP???
Alex at 22:28:58 Monday September 20 99
Mmmmmmm...I'd suggest it for the guys' next video but we gotta find a role for the other 3 boys and we must keep the name of the author secret :))))......Glad you enjoyed it mates. Donna do not worry, keep playing them before sleeping and you'll have your "the end" in your GBS dream :))
Donna at 20:48:33 Monday September 20 99
Maybe that IS the concept for the Feel it Turn video. :-) We will have to wait and see. I was telling joanna that I would have to make the drive at the end of October alone, so by the time I get to Seattle, I should have had ample lucid/day dreaming time. Add a lot of Coffee to that equation, and I won't even be able to LOOK at the b'ys by the time I see the shows in Vancouver. PLUS, I am seeing a week before the drive over. How will I keep all my 'thoughts' off my face?? :-)
~~~I don't think any of my dreams will have a 'the end' sign with Sean giving a big dimpled smile...or at least they wouldnt have until now! hehe ~~~ Thanx Alex, I enjoyed it.
Teddy at 19:57:14 Monday September 20 99
Alex - thank you SO much for sharing! I love that one - do you think we should suggest it for the b'ys next video???? BTW, the old lady reminded me of my senile old grandmother - she was always wandering around with no clothes on (though I don't think Séan would go for her!) ~~~~~~~ Spinne - I got the PC versions of Discworld 1 & 2 already, thankyouverymuch! I'd get Discworld Noir too, but I never found time to sit and play the others......
Alex at 19:3:51 Monday September 20 99
Hi all. Have you ever had a troubled night after watching a lot of GBS videos and listening to all their cds? Last night it happened to me and it caused an early morning freaked GBS dream. Is there a better place to talk about it? ;) So, in my dream, at the sound of "Feel it Turn" I found myself slowly flying over my residential block in Milano. But it was not me physically speaking,it was just my mind that was flying over the buildings and gardens. I saw everything from my high privileged point in the sky and selected an orange building where I focused my attention. Suddenly the soundtrack was not "Feel it Turn" but "Run runaway" and my eyes moved faster down to the groung searching for a particular window. Then everything happened like in a movie where I was the narrator and the viewer at the same time. I saw this first floor window getting open and an old lady trying to take off her shirt and jump down the window to escape. The old woman was hilarious 'cause she was exactly like the old lady with the weird dog in the movie "Crazy about Mary" (guess, that was the title, anyway that crazy movie with Cameron Diaz!). A lot of times she tried to get naked and jump down the window but there was like an invisible force to stop her. Suddenly, at the increasing rhythm of "Run runaway" she was right outside the window when a woman grabbed her, called her mum and she was again behind the window lamenting. Her mum started telling her story and said the old woman had gone out of her head when she had had the chance to take part to the GBS "Run runaway" video shot and had met Sean, from that moment she had always tried to escape naked to reach him. Suddenly we are back to the past, at the video making day, the scene becomes like a cartoon and I see the old, ugly woman back in NFLD, during a video shot break, carrying a pic of the guys and going to Sean to have the photo signed. She lend him the pic, Sean watch it and while signing his finger touch the old woman. She falls in love, Sean look at her, she look at him right in his eyes, and like in a happy-ending cartoon, they turn toward me at the same time, their faces are right in the middle of a big heart-shaped box, and Sean smiles...one of his teeth make a dazzle...and I see the word "the end" at the bottom of my screen....
Then I woke up, thank God!!! Sorry, it's long but I needed to share :))) Ciao
spinne at 17:54:34 Monday September 20 99
here's a good opportunity to turn teddy into a videogame-playing loser... ya know that there's a discworld game out for the sony playstation? *grin* might even be a discworld ii by now, but i haven't been keeping up with psx news. :)
Teddy at 11:37:5 Monday September 20 99
Mich - no relation to GBS, but I just finished re-reading the book, and was struck by the obvious similarity between yours & Cheechi's campuses/libraries, and Ankh-Morpork's Unseen University! Just a manic Terry Pratchett fan, really. For a GBS Connection, you have to read his "Soul Music" ;o)
Dr. T at 4:34:7 Monday September 20 99
Hey gang! Nothing much to say, just wanted to pop in and offer greetings. Greetings!
Mich at 3:54:48 Monday September 20 99
What makes you say something like that Teddy?? Maybe because you've learned how terrible I am with a computer??? You're right, I hadn't found it, but my question is, what the h**l is it?? I've figured out that it's an excerpt from a book, but how does it relate to GBS??
Teddy at 17:59:50 Sunday September 19 99
Do you guys all go to the Unseen University, or what????? Sounds suspiciously like it! ~~~~~~~ http://web.ukonline.co.uk/teddy/library.htm ~~~~~~~~~~ What's the betting Mich never got there? ~~~~~~~~~ synchronization - I know for sure that every time I visit the Ladies' loo in work, EVERYONE else wants to go. Does that count???? Happy Sunday,people!
Mich at 4:21:26 Sunday September 19 99
Congrats on FINDING the Library Cheechi!! I'm still working on it. Sheridan College's Library is notorious for being difficult to find and there are a few teachers who claim they STILL don't know where it is. I figure at this point I'm lucky to have found my classes. I've actually been told that the Library is somewhere to the left of The Cage (our campus Pub). Maybe I'll find it on Monday...I'll just stop in for a quick game or two of pool first....
Cheechi at 1:10:33 Sunday September 19 99
Carleton's library is scaring me ... I got a job there, 6 hours a day, 2 days a week. I worked in the library at my high school for five years so I figure university libaries can't be much different, and I guess it's not, except for the radical difference in SIZE! Talk about going from average to GIGANTIC! Five floors of books and the shelves go on forever. At night, when nobody's there, the place feels like a morgue ... especially on the basement floor. They hired 50 students this year, just to shelve books!
Mich at 4:7:53 Saturday September 18 99
Dr. T., I noticed the synchronization thing yesterday, too. A little odd, but it does tend to happen in real life, so why not over the Net, especially considering hte time we all seem to spend here??~~~~~~ Yes, Spinne I know that ex-boyfriend of mine was weird (and prolly still is, although I wouldn't know because he's now in a diff town and we don't see or speak to each other -- so much for his "can we still be friends" plea) and that was part of the reason why I dumped him (Just so I don't leave any of you wondering about the rest, the real reason why I dumped him is because I caught him lying. He said he was going to Russia on business -- he has an import/export company -- and would be gone for about three months. During that time he never tried to contact me, not even by Snail MAil! When he got back I learned the truth. He was caught, by my mother no less, telling someone on his cell phone that he was actually doing security for a stripper/adopted sister during her European Tour!) And just for Trish, I have no reason to Run Runaway. I was rather bitchy (o.k. extremely bitchy -- and no that time it wasn't PMS, I was just at work and didn't feel like dealing with him) when I dumped his ass and he now lives (as mentioned earlier) in another city, having left no forwarding address with any of our mutual friends. Fortunately, I was only with him for a total of five months and for three of those he was on a different continent!~~~~~~~~Best of wishes to those with PMS. I'm past PMSing. Don't know if that's a good thing, or a bad thing (no more excuse as to why I screamed at my mom for vacuuming my room for me). Maybe it's because I haven't had chocolate for so long and now it's throwing me off because my system isn't used to it. Looks like I'll just need to eat some more chocolate until I'm used to the steady flow of caffeine (and sugar) again. Could someone pass those pretzels????
TrishQ at 20:51:37 Friday September 17 99
Hey, Teddy! I'd like a postcard too! I'll send you one if you like. E-mail me.
Teddy at 20:45:46 Friday September 17 99
I love PMS! Gives me the perfect excuse for chewing out my boss ;o) That, and if it gets bad enough, 'everything' else stops..... stress does that to me! Worked perfectly when the Cambridge Folk Festival fell on the wrong dates this year! And the boss was ultra-polite to me when I came back for - oh, all of a week.~~~~~~ The 'feminine supplies' thing - I had a colleague who would go buy those for us gurls! Then he emigrated to Aussie..... but he's comin' back next week for a visit! Maybe my timing will be right on again ;o)~~~ Yeah, this wavy thing's OK, but I gotta find a way to do paragraphs. I'm gonna archive tomorrow and experiment, so just e-mail me if you post here and it wrecks your system - oops, no you won't be able to... Good idea while it lasted, though. ~~~~~~~~ Donna, I'm goin' uptown tomorrow, I'll find you a good card, OK? Gudnite, all!
Donna at 18:46:40 Friday September 17 99
TrishQ, are you trying to kill me??? I can't hold my breath until Christmas!! hehe
I will send yours today, if I ever get off line that is. I am waiting to hear if someone bought me a ticket for the second show in Vancouver in October. Maybe I should buy one anyway? hmmm... ~~~Anyway, thanx!!! I do soooo love postcards, and mail in general actually.
TrishQ at 18:42:47 Friday September 17 99
Donna- I mailed the postcard yesterday so start holding your breath. Giddyup snail!
TrishQ at 18:39:43 Friday September 17 99
Weird! I just came in here to check in and CF came on the radio AGAIN! Insert Twilight Zone music- doo doo doo doo...Da B'ys are getting an amazing amount of radioPLAY in Ottawa and Kingston.~~~~~~~ BTW-TGIF! Although.... I have TWO kids Birthday parties to attend (my daughter and my nephew) this weekend- yikes! Hyper kids and PMS! Sucks to be me!
Donna at 18:16:21 Friday September 17 99
Hey Girls! on the topic...PMS, I seem to have experienced the shortest cycle of my life, and feel it is worth commenting on a positive mental, or a husband away on holidays, or way TOO MUCH stress to even consider having PMS for more than a day. This might be worth building a thesis on for one of my classes this year, to determine the attributes of PMS (is it contagious??)~~~Anyway, I should be using this time to get some homework done before I pick up my munster, but I had to stop in to say hello, and read that the 'little storm' seems to have left most people on that side of the continent intact. Hope this is the case for everyone!
~~~I like the wavy thing too, btw!! And I will be waiting for those pretzels...for research only of course!! Back to coffee and Calculus~~~ Donna
spinne at 17:13:6 Friday September 17 99
boy, with all of you PMSers, i should really cook up another round of choccy pretzels. ;) gonna get right on that, 'fore everyone starts tearing their hair out! :)
TrishQ at 14:58:19 Friday September 17 99
Omigawwd, Dr. T! You're right- I think I am PMSing now too. I am starting to feel bitchy, woke UP with a slight headache and am cultivating a MONDO zit on my chin-Gross!! If I dissappear into the kitchen (my real one not the online one) to feverishly forage for any chocolate related items- it's for sure PMS.~~~~~~~Mich- your ex does sound verra verra weird- read:Run Runaway!!~~~~~~~Glad to hear everyone is survivng Floydlet OK. We (southern Ontario) even got a taste of the edge of Floyd yesterday with a bit of a (Pooh!) blustery day.~~~~~~~Dammit!!! Awright- WHO'S got the chocolate, coffee and Coke?...err- did I mention I was bitchy?? >:-(~~~~~~~ Ahhh- CF just came on the radio~~~~~feelin' better....
spinne at 4:32:42 Friday September 17 99
**FLOYDLET UPDATE** hey everyone! if the floydlet was supposed to hit tonight, it really musta sacked out early. it's kinda breezy here, but there's no rain, and the wind isn't extreme. some annoyed outdoor critters, but the crickets, at least, are back in full swing. ~~~~ so we're back to PMS and "feminine supplies," are we? many comforts (and Midol) around to those suffering right now. ya know, all this talk has reminded me that i'm about 2 weeks late. ha, but at least i know what i've been up to (or HAVEN'T, really), so i'm not worried. musta been those weird sleeping habits that threw me for a loop. ~~~~ mich, that ex-boyfriend of yours is just plain weird! :) definitely a little frightening. ~~~~ no, no blushing spinne - just unwilling to discuss the uh, physical attributes (you *did* say something about euphemisms, right?? :)) of some people i've *cough* known. :) that's their sort of private domain (haha), isn't it? ~~~~ anyway, time to de-funk and get ready for bed. physics lab at 10am. nite everyone; may your suffering be alleviated!
Dr. T at 4:31:16 Friday September 17 99
Hey gang! Yes, I made it through the day without slugging or sobbing. HURRAH! Hey, remember in the dorms how all the women's periods would synchronize? (Those of you just moving to the dorms, be on the lookout for this). Is it possible for this to happen in cyberspace? Will we all be menstruating at once soon? Lord, can you even imagine what this place will be like then?????~~~~~~~~I'm way behind in the chatroom, too, so will someone save anything totally rockin' for me?~~~~~~~~Departing for Chicago tomorrow morning. Haven't even started packing, but must SLEEP!!~~~~~~On a serious note--perhaps my first ever in here--I'd just like to say thanks to all for tolerating my PMS complaints this week. You've been super!!~~~~~Full report when I return from the City of the Big Shoulders. Everyone stay safe! 'Night.
Mich at 3:32:22 Friday September 17 99
Hey Trish, just thought I'd mention that not ALL men run at the mere mention of menstruation. My ex-boyfriend had no problem with that topic and was even willing to go shopping for "feminine supplies". Then again, he had this most annoying talent for knowing exactly when it was "that time of the month" (how many more cheesy euphemisms -- is that the right word? I'm way past sleep deprived here -- can I use????) or if I would be late/early etc. Definitely annoying (not to mention a little frightening considering he'd only known me a couple hours when he mentioned it would be early and he was right). I can't believe I'm discussing this here. Oh well. Blame it on the lack of sleep (and zero caffeine). ~~~~ I hope everyone's safe from Floyd (or should that be Floydlet??) ~~~~ Have we got a blushing Spinne, here?? What's wrong with discussing sex, short of not being able to participate?? ~~~~~~~ Hey Donna, welcome to the Estrogen Brigade. We started as being normal GBS fans, I swear, but somehow we just, erm, *evolved* into this. No apologies here but I'll warn ya' it can get pretty strange in here!! As if you hadn't figured that out already! 8) ~~~~ Alright, I think it's time to break my "No Caffeine Rule" (long story). Where is Jane with that d**n coffee????? Cola anyone??? Chocolate???
Hap at 3:18:13 Friday September 17 99
AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! ~~~ Did someone mention PMS? What, it's contagious now? ~~~ Okay, so it's a little after 10 p.m. and I'm just home from a fifteen-hour day at work. The Kitchen's been nuts today, took me half an hour to SKIM the board, my brain spirals out of control at the mere thought of posting something - ANYTHING! - so I figure I'll just come in here and do a fly-by post before bedtime.....AND IT'S NUTS IN HERE TOO!!!! ~~~ Donna, welcome to the powder room (just left of the Kitchen, but waaaaaay at the back of the house). ~~~ Spinne and Krysia: Take care down there!!! ~~~ Dr. T: I'm just about at the point where I start thinking, "@#^$%&! the herbalist! Pass the Pamprin and wake me in three days!!!" A cup of chamomile and dose of St. John's Wort later, and I'll be falling asleep with the headphones on (right in the middle of "Boston & St. John's"). Round our way we call this "full moon fever." Remind me to explain that sometime (perhaps in the morning). ~~~ Okay, just to prove my day was not without mirth: The Littlest Disciple and I were supping with his family this evening when, from his booster chair, the l'il guy pulled his bright green shirt down in a Jean Harlow "off the shoulder" fashion and proclaimed, "Look Mom! I'm a queen!!!" ~~~ Okay, okay, I know: not one pun, not one under-garment reference, and not one mention of the Holy Hair. (Actually, I was about to refer to it as the "Holiest of Hairies," but then I remembered the decidedly un-Catholic connotation of "Holiest of Holies" and decided THAT was just beyond inappropriate. Does a near-miss count, or am I still shirking my duties?) ~~~ In closing, I'd second Trish's "Where the heck is Jane?" only it should be pretty obvious by now that caffeine is the LAST thing I need. ~~~ Getting out now, with what's left of my dignity...now where did it get to?
spinne at 0:56:3 Friday September 17 99
**FLOYDLET UPDATE** seems to have calmed down quite a bit.. maybe i should take this opportunity to run down to the post office and get some stuff in the mail. haha nahhh.
Krysia at 0:52:48 Friday September 17 99
Well, made it home just fine - for all the newsflashes and chitchat at work about how bad it was, it really was just a rainy drive home. We finished 'battening down the hatches', and the real brunt of the storm isn't supposed to hit for a few hours. The worst will be some branches down, maybe power outages - I'm not sure I know what 50-80 mph windgusts are like, but it looks like it really won't be all that bad. Suppose it will be work as usual tomorrow, sigh.
spinne at 20:41:58 Thursday September 16 99
ah, the weather sucks! krysia, careful driving home, ok? some nasty bit of weather, definitely - keeps waking me up, 'cos i have the window open and i've been trying to catch up on some sleep! :) i'm not too worried about it, although i did leave school early. *cough* :) my biology prof cancelled the lecture (*extreme happy dance*), so i figured that "hurricane conditions" were good enough to get out of english, too. o'course, i'd pretty much go with the "tropical storm" opinion.. call it "Floydlet." :) we'll be fine, power hasn't even blinked. :) hope my ex-cats are holding up ok. :( ~~~~ trinna, i hope you're doin ok. now what's all this about tears? i never get teary... i just get cranky. as soon as i start picking fights with friends, that's when i know i'm PMSing and i should just go out or something for a while. :) ~~~~ complete change of topic here: we need more geeks and losers on both boards. i need more people to game with! :) any volunteers? Starcraft/Brood War, Baldur's Gate/Tales from the Sword Coast, Tiberian Sun? ~~~~ haha, i'm hearing some pretty pissed off geese outside right now. :) ~~~~ so, about our favorite sexual positions... i'd have to say that it really depends on who you're with. and that's about all i'm willing to say. :) congrats, trinna, you've just found probably the ONE topic i'm not willing to discuss in depth! ;) ~~~~ time for lunch, will give you updates on Floydlet later. :)
TrishQ at 20:14:51 Thursday September 16 99
Wow! Drive carefully, Krysia. Spinne- how are you doing? Post soon girls and let us know all is OK. I'm safely away from Floyd here in southern Ontario but the storm is supposed to hit Nova Scotia and Newfoundland sometime this weekend! Keep safe to everyone in his path!
Krysia at 20:3:18 Thursday September 16 99
Trish - actually, I was using the ~~~ key before I left for vacation (almost two weeks ago now), but I thought the 'box' here looked different, and didn't remember being able to hit enter while I was typing...~~~ Anyway, my office is closing two hours early due to the hurricane (although it's more a tropical storm now), but it'll like take me two hours to get home anyway - roads are flooded, visibility is low, and I'll have to dodge the falling trees. ~~~~ Spinne - how are you doing out on the Island? You've got to be getting it worse out there across the Sound - we're protected by you guys usually in these things. Let us know all is OK.~~~ Cheers!
TrishQ at 19:34:15 Thursday September 16 99
errr- that was me below :-)
Anon at 19:31:54 Thursday September 16 99
Krysia- Teddy mentioned before that the paragraph thing just doesn't work in here. She told us to use the wavy~~~~~ key( I have NO idea what the proper name for it is!) to break UP our posts and make them a little easier to read. Keep chattin', Donna. There's always room for more...in the Estrogen Brigade! ~~~~~~I love the wavy key~~~~~it's so pretty~~~~~like waves on a Great Big Sea~~~~
Donna at 18:57:27 Thursday September 16 99
Thanx for the welcome! Just what I need is another place that 'I have to check' everyday! :-) I kinda like the idea of a women only chat, but agree that there are probably men lurking here.
Oh and a thought on PMS...I think that sometimes people need a good verbal lashing, and pms seems to afford me the nerve (not that I could stop it) to accomplish this. The tears are a downfall though, and I haven't figured out how to keep them in check. They should offer a course on directing your hormonal imbalances...hehe
Trish I picked out a nice one for you, but haven't written anything on it yet. Perhaps tonight during Philosophy. :-) Time to get some homework done...Thursday seems to go on forever for me.
bye Donna
Krysia at 17:35:50 Thursday September 16 99
OK, forget the comment about the new paragraph set up. I can make paragraphs in here with the return key, but they didn't show up below. Thought is was a new feature. Been away so long, I've forgotten the routine! PS - everyone vote for Sons of Maxwell per Wendy's request? Alex/Teddy - make up Ontarian addresses or use someone's maybe - really - they're a great group and a nice bunch of guys.
Krysia at 17:33:43 Thursday September 16 99
Indeed, it was a sad night the night O'Reilly's ran out of Guinness. The bartenders watched with distress as the crowds quickly filtered out, down to a pub with the dark stuff (mind you, it wasn't St. John's that was out of Guinness, just the one pub - second time in as many weeks however). Fergus O'Byrne, up on stage, could barely choke out the name of a replacement pint, and made comment on tragic situation numerous times. Plus, rumors floated
of another pub having ran out a few weeks earlier. Emergency supplies of the dark stuff in cans was mentioned as a very good idea for the pub. Someone needs to have a little talk with the inventory manager, I believe. Hap - it should be against the by-laws, if it isn't already. Number for the local liquor control board,anyone?
Hey, like the new paragaph set up, by the way. When did this happen?
Alex: As for CDs, what I came home with was: Fables/Tear the House Down, Fergus O'Byrne/Wave Over Wave, All Hands on Deck (Songs from the Lower Deck - Signal Hill, McGinty, Clam Chowder, Connemara, etc.), The Irish Descendants/Gypsies and Lovers, Shanneygannock/The Long Haul, McGinty/Atlantic Favourites, We Will Remain (Patriotic Songs of Newfoundland, Various artists), The Punters/Said She Couldn't Dance, and The Barra MacNeils/Until Now.
That's it for now. Amazing how many ways I can distract myself at work. Donna - welcome!
Dr. T at 17:29:43 Thursday September 16 99
Can I do a drive-by PMS vent in here? AUUUUURGH!!! There are sixty bazillion tiny things going wrong at work, I'm probably going to be late for my next class, and my hormones are raging out of control!! I'm going to be lucky if I get through the day without bursting into tears or giving someone a black eye. Wish me luck! Whew! Better already. Thanks. Now, on to our disucssion of favorite sexual positions. ******JOKING!!!**** Bye all!
TrishQ at 14:5:1 Thursday September 16 99
Go, Spinne,Go! Go,Spinne,Go!! And try to stay dry or solve the whole laundry probs and sprinkle a little Tide on before you brave Floyd.~~~~Hey, Welcome Donna! I've got your postcard all written UP and stamped- will send it today or tommorrow sooo with the wonderful Canuck snail mail it should be there.....oh, maybe before Xmas.~~~~~How do you like Carleton, Cheechi? My older sister went there.~~~~~Mich- I've suspected the same thing 'bout Fred. I bet he lurks in here! All this estrogen laced chat scares him away. I know from experience the mere mention of menstruation sends men screaming for the hills! Mind you if we start discussing bras and breasts again we'll never get 'em outta here!!
spinne at 12:1:38 Thursday September 16 99
sorry for the double-post here, i just wanted to share a bit of advice with everyone: you know it's laundry day when you're left wearing a sports bra and you have no plans on jogging.
spinne at 11:52:27 Thursday September 16 99
*cough* please, everyone note the time stamp on this msg, and subtract 5 hours (EDT). IT'S 6:35 IN THE FRIGGIN MORNING!! this is so wrong. *wipes tears from eyes* ~~~ hey donna, welcome to the very muchly un-private chat, where everything you care to discuss (and then some) is made public. :) just wait until those fetal pig dissections come 'round for me... that'll chase a bunch of folks away. ;) ~~~~ no guinness in st. john's, heehee! wouldn't bother me in the slightest! :D ~~~~ mich, g'luck to ya - i don't have nearly as much of a courseload, just a natural hatred for formal education. :) thanks to everyone for cheerin me up, though, it -is- helping. we can all pull through this, really we can... ~~~~ hap, your comment about the fur and whiskers and the thing your kitty was doing with his ears reminds me of one of the Feynman stories - he was invited into a graduate cell phys course, and was required to write a paper. having little biology, he was getting lost when he started his research and came up with references to "extensors and flexors, the gastrocnemius muscle, and so on." so fixes the problem, feynman-style: he goes into the library and asks for a "map of the cat." :) ~~~~ wow, it's really pouring out there! time for me to get a move on.. it's almost 7 now. *whines pathetically and starts sniffling*
Teddy at 10:11:46 Thursday September 16 99
Hi, Donna!~~~~~~~~ No, it's definitely not a private board, come on in and chat! Though it is kinda turning into women only, what with all this talk about throwing underwear, bra-fitting and PMT ;o)~~~~~~~~ Spinne - off the Guinness, you need more caffiene ~~~~~~~~~~ Krysia, many thanks for the travel diary! I need something to chill to ~~~~~~~ NO GUINNESS IN ST JOHN'S!!!!! That's it, I'm never going there! Too bad. ;o)
Anon at 7:1:4 Thursday September 16 99
Donna at 7:0:40 Thursday September 16 99
Hey, I assume this is not a private kinda chat, so I wanted to say hello!!
Do you all work with an online computer handy? Seems like many people are 'at' work as they post.
I have nothing special to say, other than I like the site Teddy. (and friends)
Mich at 6:32:8 Thursday September 16 99
Finally able to stop in and all I can really say is that I think I may be in the same boat as Cheechi and Spinne! Somehow I got roped into being a notetaker for the Special Needs office (at least there might be an honorarium of sorts at the end of the term) and tutoring a couple of guys in accounting (they still don't get that there can be multiple types of assets -- any GBS songs relating to this??? They've helped with history, maybe they need to start singing about Business Administration)in addition to my seven courses. I just keep thinking about what we were told at orientation: Expect to have a complete nervous breakdown before your third week. Just about due, I think.~~~~~~~Dr. T, I know the feeling. Those three advil and a nap certainly sound good right now! Alright, screw the advil and head straight for the prescription (and hey, combine it with the medication I'm on for my fibromyalgia and sleep disorder and I'm out cold for at least eight hours. Now to find eight hours....)~~~~~~ Any ideas as to where we set our limits for what we will NOT discuss????? Definitely a good way to deter the b'ys from reading everything here (which means we can continue to discuss info that we ordinarily could not post in the Kitchen). Although with Fred being an Offiseal, you begin to wonder if he lurks, but is too embarassed by the discussion to post here (or maybe I'm the only one who wonders it).~~~~~o.k., re-reading this, perhaps it really is time for some sleep (I've just been up for 17 hours straight. Thank goodness for Thursdays off).~~~~Good luck to everyone else who's at school (teachers and students) and if you are anywhere near Hurrican Floyd, please keep yourself as safe as possible and let us know how you're keeping (or better yet, high tail it up here to Canada).
Hap at 2:40:58 Thursday September 16 99
They ran out of Guinness??? IN ST. JOHN'S??? Doesn't that violate a local by-law? Write the Ministry of Tourism, Krysia, I think you're due some kind of refund here. ~~~ Spinne: hair, knees and dimples are all biological. (An innate sense of mystery may not be but, heck, we gotta' leave something for the pscyology majors.) So are fur, whiskers, big green eyes and this adorable thing my kitty is doing with his ears right now...:)
Alex at 2:18:50 Thursday September 16 99
Spinne, DO NOT GIVE UP!!! You can always think that the guys eat proteins too....and how would the Bob magnetism work on proteins metabolism?.....does this make the subject more interesting? Cheers
spinne at 1:54:20 Thursday September 16 99
*sigh* all of this work really bites. i really don't care about the different structures of protein, or the fact that hydrocarbons are hydrophobic. when's the fun stuff come along?? can i get a lil encouragement to not give up on pursuing a doctorate in the biological sciences? :( only 75 more years to go...
Alex at 23:22:46 Wednesday September 15 99
Welcome back Krysia! Happy to know you enjoyed your trip! Guess now we have another Nova Scotia addicted! What about the cds you bought?
Cheechi at 21:42:11 Wednesday September 15 99
Yes Trish, I'm in Ottawa, and I'm attending Carleton U right now. and, just for general information, Carleton's ITV classes can all be seen (at various times) on channel 65 (in Ottawa anyway). I, personally, will be on TV (probablly) every Monday at 10pm, and every Wednesday at 2pm. Or you can just go to my website and view my pretty face there *heehee*
Krysia at 21:9:40 Wednesday September 15 99
Thanks, Teddy, Hap and Trish! I am so not in the mood to be at work. I wish I were still enjoying the sunshine and seabreezes... I have been listening to the Fables and Fergus O'Byrne today - I picked up 10 CDs while in Nova Scotia and NF. I also met the guys from Sons of Maxwell while in NS - nice guys - I think I'll be visiting Halifax more often... ~~~~Hap - I've decided I like Alex Keith's, but not as much as Guinness. Terrible thing, I was in a pub in St. John's (O'Reilly's on George St), and THEY RAN OUT OF GUINNESS! Crowd thinned pretty quickly. Switched to Caffrey's, but its not the same.
TrishQ at 15:20:30 Wednesday September 15 99
Duh! That's a no-brainer! Of course they're stuck to Bob. An enviable position, I might add.:-) ~~~~~~ Welcome back, Krysia and keep on truckin' Cheechi! Correct me if I am wrong but are you in Ottawa, Cheechi? What school are you @?~~~~~~~ Hap- perhaps The Littlest Disciple was wondering ^aloud^ if da B'ys ^allowed^ themselves to surrender to The Bob Effect?~~~~~~~ Ah, I need more coffee- where the h%ll IS Jane? Going into caffeine withdrawals here and it aint pretty!
Me again at 1:49:15 Wednesday September 15 99
Hey, in for a penny, in for, well, at least another penny. Of course I *meant* to say the Littlest Disciple "wondered ALOUD." Last correction, I swear. So help me God, I'll turn the computer off and damn the consequences!
Hap at 1:26:46 Wednesday September 15 99
Was it Jen. in the chat saying something about Englis majors being chronically anal? I meant to inquire (below): "Further evidence OR a trick of the light?" (I can spell! Honest! It was a typo - a TYPO, I swear to God!!)
Hap at 1:24:10 Wednesday September 15 99
"Most of these books can be read in a day?" Yeah, maybe, IF you didn't have classes to attend...and that classES, plural (!!), which means other assignments that I'm sure other professors think can be handled in a day. Christ in a study carol, if the world doesn't revolve around profs individually, it just ain't spinnin' right. *sigh* I remember those days...fondly, however perverse that may seem. ~~~ WELCOME BACK KRYSIA!!! ~~~ Determined to make this a one-shot post, I now move on to the latest Magnetism Observation. Further evidence of a trick of the light? You decide. This morning, while studying his brandly new copy of PLAY, the Littlest Disciple gazed upon the band photo on the back of the CD and wondered allowed, "How come they are all stuck together?" Now I ask you: Are they "all stuck together?" Or are they all stuck to Bob?
Cheechi at 0:31:2 Wednesday September 15 99
I'm checking in as often as I can, but even reading email and chat posts is driving me crazy. Since I just started university, the only thing I ever do is read, read, read! My eyes are going to pop out, I tells ya! Just looking at the list of texts I have to read is frightening enough to *almost* make me want to quit school. Or maybe I could be violent and take all my books and shove them up the teacher's ... well, maybe that wouldn't be appropriate. Did I mention I'm a slow reader? One of my english teacher's had the gall to stand in front of the class and say "Most of these books can be read in a day or less" I really wanted to hit him for saying that. I mean, I realize these are 300-400 pages books (most of them), but that takes me like a week, at least to read. Anyway, I'm going to stop talking about reading now, because I'm driving myself insane just thinking about it. Cheers all!
Krysia at 23:51:58 Tuesday September 14 99
Well, just to alleviate any anxieties about my sanity, I read through most of my 140 work e-mails (less than I expected), voicemails, 3 huge piles of snail mail and memos, went on-line to check my own e-mail, then just had to take a break to check the chat and then the PWAOWAH board. All before noon time for the first pass, no less! I was quite proud of myself - it's usually much worse when I'm gone for a week or more. Time to go home to unpack and do laundry - the joys of coming back to reality. Missing Atlantic Canada already....
spinne at 23:12:2 Tuesday September 14 99
hahahahha!! no guinness for me, thanks! ;) ya know what works for me? first, someone to whine at. very important... whining isn't any fun if there's no one about to listen. after that, when the pain gets really unbearable, take three advil and a nap. :)
Teddy at 22:44:6 Tuesday September 14 99
Hi, Krysia! Welcome back! PLEASE don't tell me you checked in here first....... you can't do that! AYM post on its way ~~~~~~ PMS remedies: try chocolate & ice-cream..... and guinness, for those of us who can stand the stuff - worked for me at the Irish festival/Sawdoctor's gig on sunday! ~~~~~~~~ and lastly, NO LIMITS! We're big, hormonal women in here!
Krysia at 16:18:25 Tuesday September 14 99
Morning! Just got back last night - what a wonderful trip. I saw Shanneygannock and Fergus O'Byrne in St. John's, as well as a new band called Foc'sl, and then Sons of Maxwell in Halifax. Anyway, I do need to get caught up at work. Yuck. Was able to scan the chat and the board in here - does anyone have the AYM post they can send me? Didn't have time to read much - but you guys have been very prolific while I've been gone! Looks hilarious, I'll have to catch up on the 'video shoot' later in the week. Did I miss any good concert reviews? Cheers. (PS Spinne - your NF postcards were just mailed Monday (sorry), but hopefully you'll get them soon!)
TrishQ at 15:5:5 Tuesday September 14 99
My doctor recommended valerian to me and I take it just before bed. It does help me sleep better. I'm a big believer in vitamins and herbal remedies.~~~~~No, I don't think there are any limits to what we'll discuss in here. I vote that after we exhaust the PMS/menstruation chat we move on to disusssing childbirth. >:-) If THAT doesn't keep guys outta here, nuttin' will!
Dr. T at 0:34:50 Tuesday September 14 99
Thanks for the advice, ladies. I'm still out of it today, but it's almost definitely hormonal...so at least I know it'll be over soon! I think I have some chamomile around here somewhere, and I'll have to look into the calcium supplements.~~~~~~Spinne, we're still waiting to hear about the Birchmere! (sp?)~~~~~~~As to Hap's question, I think there are limits as to what we'll discuss in here...we just haven't found them yet!!
Hap at 23:34:46 Monday September 13 99
Well, I didn't go out this weekend, even though I was supposed to. Car trouble. Watched a lot of football (soccer), though. And bought tickets to things coming up later in the year. And my parents visited - although they came for the golf, not me. ~~~ Never tried calcium supplements. I figure the litre of milk I drink every day I'm PMS-ing takes care of that. (Or does that constitute a calcium supplement of a different nature?) I do double up on my Vitamin B Complex, though. Does wonders for the mood swing/irritability factor (as do St. John's Wort and Valerian, but they can make you sleepy). And I'm sure you've heard the chamomile tea story a million times, but it works a charm on those cramps. ~~~ Um...are there any limits to what we'll discuss in here?
Alex at 19:19:27 Monday September 13 99
As usual, I made a mess with the post! Sorry :))
Alex at 19:18:21 Monday September 13 99
Hi all. DrT hope you're feeling better now and Spinne, welcome back! Hope you'll tell us all the funny story ;))

TrishQ at 18:36:50 Monday September 13 99
Hey, I went out this past weekend. Saw a play at our local theatre Fri. night. It was pretty good ('bout a young guy wanting to be a priest). On Saturday I went to a Celtic Festival in Kingston ON in Fort Henry. I had never been to one before- it was very cool. Leahy performed onstage- they were fantastic- even better than when I saw them open for GBS in '97. FYI- Leahy is a local family of celtic musicians and step dancers. They just finished a huge tour opening for Shania! Then went into K-town for a yummy schnitzel dinner ( I lived in Germany for 8 yrs and got addicted!) GREAT weekend! Hope you're feelin' better Dr. T. Try calcium suppliments for the icky PMS- works for me!
spinne at 9:6:16 Monday September 13 99
heya trinna - i hope you're feeling better soon. :( i'll have an amusing story for you eventually... right now i'm goin to bed! :)
Dr. T at 4:1:48 Monday September 13 99
Hey, where is everyone? I've been home all day not feeling well (hopefully just exhaustion and PMS), and I'm bored out of my wits!! Anyone have anything amusing to share? Any good stories from those of you that went OUT this weekend? Ah well, have a good week everyone!
Cheechi at 21:28:49 Saturday September 11 99
I was at HMV the other day and I saw that PLAY was in the Top 30 Best Realeases section. Then I went to Chapters today and they had TURN in their Favorite CD section (don't ask me why a book store has a CD section). Just wanted to share that with you so that you can all be proud with me.
Dr. T at 3:20:35 Saturday September 11 99
Congrats to both Hap and Teddy!!! Cookies and champagne...that's even better than cookies and milk! Plus chocolate covered pretzels...the ideal PMS food, both chocolate and salt...perfect for the Estrogen Brigade. What a happy day!
Hap at 2:31:16 Saturday September 11 99
I've got fresh cookies! Made 'em with the Littlest Disciple this afternoon...although he ate a good chunk of the dough. There might be one cookie for everyone. ~~~ Met the Newfoundland dog this afternoon, and her half-Newf owner. The pup is a bit of a slobberer, but hey: It's a female, and we know what the men are like round her neck of the breeding ground, is it any wonder she's in a perpetual state of drool? I've seen the knickers as well. Was promptly sized up by the new boss: "You're just the right size for most of my samples." (She brings buyers into the home office from time to time...this could be interesting.) Oh yes, and the conversion had begun before I even got there: "What's this music you've got everybody's kids hooked on?" Hee hee. I just gets easier and easier. :) - . CONGRATS TEDDY!!! I'm so glad everything worked out for you. Now, we've managed a bit of a hair clog in your drain already, but I promise we'll snake it out before we leave - and, uh, re-stock the Guinness (just look at what it's done for The Hair!).
Alex at 23:45:47 Friday September 10 99
Lucky week mates, isn't it? Good job DrT, and congratulation to Hap and Teddy!I think it can be the AYM message effect!......I played some numbers at the lottery, who knows???......Party???...ok, if you finishe the cookies, I'll take some pizza! Cheers
spinne at 22:28:10 Friday September 10 99
heyheyyyy!! congrats everyone! a successful video shoot, a new job, and a new home, this week is ending wonderfully. :) i think there are a few cookies left, but i'll be getting to work on some more chocolate pretzels, anyway. the post-shoot party is being held at your new place, teddy, didn't you know?! :)
TrishQ at 19:19:19 Friday September 10 99
Congratulations Teddy! That's wonderful! I am also saving UP my pennies hoping to buy my own place someday. Would help if my deadbeat evil ex paid the back child and spousal support he owes me. The wheels of justice grind sloooowly (believe me - I know!) Er- sorry Teddy- I shouldn't be indulging in men-bashing at your house warming party....Quick someone pass me the wine!~~~~~~ Way to go, girl!
TrishQ at 19:9:44 Friday September 10 99
~~~applause!~~~ Well done, Dr.T! That was just too amusing. Loved the part with the Faithfull reverently washing the hair- how appropo for us PWAOWAHers!~~~~~Re: the Great Big Toss of Freudian Unmentionables- I was sooo disappointed that Sailor Fred didn't toss undies. I think having frillies tossed at them by a grown man is way more hilarious. I'd love to see THAT! ~~~~~~~~~Looking forward to seeing The Great Big Barenaked Sea in November in Ottawa. :-p <~~~~leering grin
Teddy at 18:47:17 Friday September 10 99
So, where's the post-shoot party????? Nice ending, Dr T! I'm a sucker for happy endings *sniff*~~~~~~~~ Hap, congrats on the new job! ~~~~~~~~~ Everybody, I am now a proud (?) homeowner, of a run-down terraced model in the worse end of town! But, hell, it only cost me 25k! AND IT'S MINE! Welcome to the virtual housewarming, and have an imaginary Sociabubble on me ;o) Any cookies left????
Dr. T at 18:6:7 Friday September 10 99
I'm all for underwear chucking in Ontario, if you bring the supplies! That's too funny about your new job, Hap! I had a feeling kismet was going to kick in for you, and that's kismet if there ever was some. It'd have to bite you on the butt to be any more obvious!~~~~~~~~Thanks for the warm fuzzies on the review, gang! As for the Great Bare Sea, it's not unheard of...the Red Hot Chili Peppers have been doing it for years...so why does it seem so totally shocking to me when Alan suggests it? Coudn't tell ya. Oh, but the looks on their faces! I wish you could've seen! And Alex, he didn't say January specifically, he just said early in 2000...that could be February, March, April...who knows?~~~~~~Sorry for the length of that video shoot summary. I guess it defeated the purpose of its existence, but I never know how long things are when I type in this little box.~~~~~~So am I permitted to close out the video shoot? We now have Sean back in shorts and we've supplied him with cookies, milk, and a large pack of gum to help with the nicotine withdrawl. The dogs are tied up, docile, and panting in anticipation of leftovers, though Sean is still shooting them the occasional suspicious look. Bob has been unbound, after numerous assurances that his knees will go unmolested, and he too is relaxing with nary a bee in sight. There was so much infighting amongst the crew over who got to wash Alan's hair that we just decided to take "lather-rinse-repeat" to the max and let everyone have a TURN, while the rest of the membership circled 'round, chanting soothing sounds in ritualistic PWAOWAH fashion...and low and behold, after about the fifth wash, Alan suddenly snapped back to his old self and is now darting around the set looking for his guitar. Finally, Mr. Powers has been successfully treated for his wound...turns out it was only a scratch, he's just a heavy bleeder. That Barney band-aid is serving its purpose nicely. The old glasses, be they Alan's or Darrell's (the world may never know) will be given as a souvenier to the first crew member to claim them, as Darrell has now been fitted with a new, tape-free pair. And it's amazing how many cookies he's consuming for someone so recently ill. Well, more Power(s) to him. And here comes Alan with the guitar, ready to sing "all the hits, not just ours." So come gather all around us, bring the milk and pass the chocolate chips...THAT'S A WRAP!
TrishQ at 14:12:38 Friday September 10 99
A NEWFOUNDLAND?!?! I love those dogs and have always wanted one. I can't complain tho'- I have a golden retriever named Tina who is the sweetest dog on earth. Hmmm- can you tell I am a Great Big dog lover?
Hap at 1:47:6 Friday September 10 99
How are we set for the Great Big Knicker Toss? 'Cause it looks as though my employment emergency - the one that would have seen me parting company with the Littlest Disciple and his family - has been salvaged by a woman who spends her days marketing (get this) wholesale LINGERIE. Never let it be said that I don't take my duties as Mistress of the Freudian Unmentionables seriously! Not only does she market the stuff, but she works out of her home and, while her son is sleeping in the afternoon, she'd appreciate as much help as I can give her in the office. Hee hee hee. It was all I could do not to burst out laughing when she told me what she did for a living (thank God we were on the phone at the time, she couldn't see me digging my fingernails into my palms). Oh, and if this woman wasn't perfect enough already - if I actually needed any kind of sign that she was the answer to my prayers - she has a dog. Anyone care to guess the breed? :)
Alex at 23:59:14 Thursday September 9 99
DrT, such an interesting and funny review! Did you really take notes during the concert? :)
That naked thing made me wish to move to Cleveland for their next date there! Somebody will have to bring a huge professional camera :))......
But that idea of being back to the States in Jenuary kills me!!!! It means they won't be here in Europe since February or so!! I see withdrawal symptoms getting worse...
Teddy at 22:54:20 Thursday September 9 99
Dr T - lovely review! One comment only: I thoroughly agree with Alan's suggestion re the clothing status at the next show. And all Bob's protective clutching at the shirt ain't gonna help ;o)
spinne at 10:57:50 Thursday September 9 99
*cough* those band-aids WERE on sale, and they work just fine, thank you! (*mumbles something about hap's purse*) :) ~~~~ glad to hear you're making it through classes ok, and that you're even learning impt stuff like how long it takes you to get from home to school. (it's consequence free through margarita for me; trois navires if traffic's bad.) my important lesson for the day is "no one, but NO ONE, should have to see this side of 6am." i didn't even know it came with a "morning" component, figured that it was just a nice way to end the night. :) ~~~~ everyone have a great day while i languish in a biology lab for three hours, and two classes after that. :P ;)
Mich at 5:31:3 Thursday September 9 99
Sorry to double post, but I learned the best thing today and I have to share. One of the first friends I met (and the one who shares my commute time occasionnally) is a GBS fan (important college learning). The first person (outside of Kitchen) that has understood what I mean when I say my commute is the length of one debut album from front door to locker (funny thing is though, the commute home is only half of PLAY, odd, isn't it??)
Mich at 5:28:16 Thursday September 9 99
Dr. T, would those be the famous Barney bandaids that were supposedly only purchased because they were on sale (better check the medicine cabinet to see if we have any better ones)~~~~just so yu all know, I've survived my first two days of class and have only gotten lost about a zillion times. Thank God I have Thursdays off!! AND I have one prof who is a fabulous doyler (should that be capitalized?) which adds a bit of fun. Still awake in classes, but I'm not holding out any hopes for my Friday 8 am class (I prefer my 12-6 on Mon - Wed)~~~~~~~ Glad to know that the video is now (almost?) done because I was getting concerned about the b'ys safety!
TrishQ at 3:47:32 Thursday September 9 99
Heh heh, yeah, I got a giggle out of "coo" too. Ah well, I should shut-up. Glass houses and stones etc.....i kin spil. an Rite; good to!~~~~~Cheechi!! I have three words for you~~~~~Pizza and Coke! See, I can count too! :-)
Cheechi at 2:2:56 Thursday September 9 99
No mocking English Majors! I'm going to become one in the next four years and I have no idea how to spell (yet!) I make up words when I have to. Alan's a great English Major, if you ask me, but that's because he went to a GREAT school as did the other three guys. But, isn't it an unwritten law that English Majors are *supposed* to suck at English? I meen, since wen do we do anything write? (heehee)
Alex at 22:59:19 Wednesday September 8 99
Wow, what a day! A HUGE summary from DrT (...thanks...) and an AYM post :)))). Anyway, after reading the things you all wanna do to the guys for the "new" video, I was wondering if Alan read all this stuff and what he meant at the end of his message when he says "BE SAFE"!!!! ;)))
Was he caring about our mental in-sanity, or just trying to say "be safe as I am right now (thank God!!!..and I wanna keep on being safe!)", or was he still thinking about my "accident" (that would make me somehow happy ;))...
Good school starting mates!!! Can I pass you a cappuccino? Some coffee would help you to stay awake ;))
Cheers
Teddy at 22:28:28 Wednesday September 8 99
Already been there ;o) Am I the only one who DOESN'T check this place first???? ~~~~~~~~ I wonder if we'll get the standard B,TB day tomorrow, or do we get short-changed, if he's still in a sour mood? ~~~~~~~~ Me, I think Alan's just trying to prove he's still alive, though I think we knocked a few braincells loose. "Coo" indeed. So much for the English major ;o)
TrishQ at 20:49:2 Wednesday September 8 99
Happy Alan Yes Me Day! Yes, girls- run to the kitchen...let's go!
Cheechi at 18:43:55 Wednesday September 8 99
I forgot, I have a question ... does this mean we just have to edit the video now and send it to MM and CMT?
Cheechi at 18:42:9 Wednesday September 8 99
I'm sorry, milk and cookies? MILK and cookies? It's okay, I'm fine, I just hate milk. Why don't you all just go suck on a cow? I'll sit here and drink my coke thank you. Unfortunately, cookies don't really go well with coke ... let me see ... Ah Ha! CHIPS and coke, or POPCORN and coke, that goes together. Hey, give me that! *whips a coke can away from Sean, and smacks him across the back of the head (not intending hurt)* Now, if you'll excuse me, I must go appologize to Alan for punching him earlier ... *walks over to the tree where Alan is, arms full of chips, popcorn and coke, and sits with him, head on his shoulder*
TrishQ at 15:21:33 Wednesday September 8 99
A bondage video?! I thought we were filming an innocent (tho' violent) rugby/Ordinary Day video.~~~~~~~~ I have noticed that as the filming day wore on all of crew/PWAOWAHers were getting rather carried away (let's blame it on the hot weather and a over indulgence of Coke!) Remember- this is GBS- NOT the Eyes Wide Shut- Chris Isaak video!~~~~~~~~ Hmmmh, it's been a LONG day (see Dr. T's post below) pass the cookies and milk over here, please? :-)~~~~~~~~ BTW- Good luck to all going back to school! Yesterday was my daughter's 1st day in Grade 5 - I wish she'd stop this growing UP business- it's making me feel old!
spinne at 5:41:38 Wednesday September 8 99
oogh... quite a day over here - first day back at school. thanks, mich, for the well-wishing. it's gonna take a lot of that to get me through tuesdays this semester! english, biology, quick break, work. i'm almost too tired to play videogames. :( ~~~~ dunno about you folks, but i'm all for some milk and cookies and calling it a day! o'course, if there's any tying up still being done, i'll stick around for a few if i... never mind. i must -REALLY- be tired! :)
Dr. T at 5:15:25 Wednesday September 8 99
I'm getting a little concerned about this whole tying the band up thing. Last time I checked, this was NOT a bondage video....To sum up for Alex, we're shooting the Ordinary Day video, and so far Alan has gotten bonked in the head with the ball numerous times, had a nosebleed, passed out, was revived by Sean's zealous mouth-to-mouth, been encased in bubble wrap, dunked in the lake, had his clothing cut to shreds, and has since received an electrical shock from a hairdryer, lost his contact lenses, and gotten punched; Sean's lips were damaged in the mouth-to-mouth incident, he may or may not have run into the goalpost numerous times, he too was wrapped, dunked, and shredded, received a soprano-inducing blow to the groin, served as a crash pad for a falling crew member, and was last seen trying to hide but being dragged out from under the bleachers by a set of tracking hounds....Darrell got decidedly ill from the bloodshed in the early part of the shoot, and has since gotten wasted on nausea medication, had the wrap-dunk-shred treatment, broke his glasses (which may actually be Alan's), bumped into stuff, was nearly compromised by some sexual libertines disguised as nurses, and punctured himself with a pair of scissors...Bob has been perpetually fleeing those who have been kissing and sucking on his knees, has likewise been wrapdunkshredded, caught a cold in the lake, run into a goalpost, and keeps falling over from the makeshift kneepads he created to protect his "sensitive knees"...does that cover most of the major events? Please fill in if I've left out anything crucial. So, picking up from there...it's probably a good thing those dogs dragged Sean out when they did because, lack of dignity aside, Darrel just yakked through the bleachers and Sean was fortunate to be clear of that business. Darrell is still suffering from a gaping flesh wound, though, and I really think someone ought to have a look at him...Bob toppled once again in his attempt to escape Cheechi, and has been unable to lift himself up off the ground, what with the sneezing and those tightly wrapped knees...I don't want to be the one to tell him that the dogs in pursuit of Sean have unsettled a nearby beehive...and poor Sean himself remains unclad, as Alan sits beneath a nearby tree in a state of nervous hysteria. Is there any scene that we can shoot at this point? Or should we just bring in the bandaids, milk, and cookies and call it a day?
Cheechi at 2:15:51 Wednesday September 8 99
I'll get up a bunch of new phobias as soon as I get the time ... but your right, I do have a bunch of new ones, thanks to this psycho video shoot! And it serves Sean right, he shouldn't have taken the coke in the first place. I'm just like a leprechaun (sp?) that way ... Ay counts me cokes and hide'em at the end of a rainbow *she says with an Irish accent* and Ay c'n tell if even one of the lot is a-missin'. Ye just be watchin' out fer yerselves if Ay catch ye with one of me cokes, because I'll turn itta a bloomin' monster and get'cha fer it, says Ay.
Darn, Bob has a boo-boo from toppling over like that; PARAMETICS! oh wait, I fired those bimbo's didn't I? Oh well, gotta do it myself then. And don't you try running away from me, young Bob, you sit your ass (and it's a nice ass too) on this stretcher and I'll tie you down with safety straps ... did I ever mention my theory of anything that has the word "safety" in it ... if it has the word "safety" in it, it's NOT safe. Think of a safety pin; oh sure it's safe when it's closed, but that thing could pop open when you least expect it ... and it then becomes ... a POINTY pin!
Alex at 0:24:54 Wednesday September 8 99
Hi all, I'm still alive and kicking! From tomorrow I'll be back fully active here. I see a lot of things happened. Is there a good soul willing to summarize all these events for me?
See you
Teddy at 23:17:56 Tuesday September 7 99
Okay, nice one, Cheechi. We just got Séan back into some clothing, after that unfortunate scissors incident while we were un-gift-wrapping them (how much tape did you use, anyway???), and now your dogs have gone and ripped the shorts to shreds again. It doesn't do much for a man's dignity when he's dragged out from the bleachers by his bum, you know. Screaming, no less. Pathetic. I think it's too late for your Coke though, he's twitching like a good 'un. Could be nerves, I suppose, those dogs were inches from something important. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alan's in just as bad a state! Do you think we can just let the hoar hang until he calms down a little (or we knock him unconscious again)? Otherwise he'll be no good to anyone, and may well pose a psychotic threat to every hairdresser in Canada - I can just see that edition of Crimewatch now..... ~~~~~~~~~~ Where was Darrell headed when we saw him last? No real worries, no way is he going to find the way out of here by touch. Not with all us 'volunteers' in front of him, whichever way he goes ;o) ~~~~~~~~~ Hey, is that camera rolling??? Only I think Bob's going over again..... TIMMMMBERRRRRRRR!!!!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mich, thanks for the wishes... I assume you meant teachers too ;o) Good luck to all you neocollegephytes (I can see a couple more phobias coming as the workload kicks in.....)
Cheechi at 19:29:30 Tuesday September 7 99
Join the crowd Mich! I'm going into first year university ... ACH!! Too much work, I can see it now... actually, I'm in the middle of frosh week right now, the learning part doesn't start until thursday.
Mich at 4:18:56 Tuesday September 7 99
I'm not surprised that Alan's afraid of the blowdryer after what you all put him through (oh wait a minute, I was the one suggesting that his hair be dried before attempting the hair flip to prevent the hair flop. Rather unusual considering I'm absolutely terrified of hairdryers -- burned a hole in a chair with one. Must have been a moment of sanity).~~~~~~ Good luck with the rest of the video shoot. I don't know how often I'll be in because school starts back tomorrow and I don't know how much work I'll have (first year college). Good luck to everyone who's going back (or is everyone else in here past the school age??)~~~~If this makes no sense, blame the fact that I've cut out ALL caffeine and am not quite awake.
spinne at 1:26:47 Tuesday September 7 99
i have a pair of glasses darrell can use. he may look rather girly, though, wearing my sunglasses. :) also, if he's not too badly near-sighted, the "seeing" part will still be a problem. (can you say "sharon wears coke bottle glasses"?) but darrell going without (heehee) would seem downright strange. :) ah, well.. just remember: the better ya look, the more ya see. ;)
Cheechi at 21:13:43 Monday September 6 99
How was trhe sound in the port-a-can, you say? It was actually kinda muffled (sound doesn't travel through plastic walls, unfotunately), but it was kinda cool with the vibrating at stuff. I must appologize again; I seem to have over-reacted and punched Alan, thinking he cut his hair, when actually it was just tied up. But, it's okay, a little bit of make-up to make that bruise on his cheek disappear, and a good shampoo to give his hair back it's natural bounce, and he'll be good as new. Well, except for the fact that he seems a little too shaken up to play guitar or even sing; we may have to dub his voice on the video. As for Sean, I've sent the hounds after him to retrieve my coke. Bob's knees are giving out on him, so he won't get too far, but I seem to have lost Darrell ... follow the trail of broken glass and duck tape. Do we have enough money put together for the shoot to replace his glasses? Maybe he could borrow mine... but then I wouldn't be able to see either. Oop, gotta go ... the dogs have found something...
Dr. T at 16:8:39 Monday September 6 99
Nice sluggin', Cheechi. There's something to be said for that caffeinated personality. By the way, how were the accoustics in the portajohn? And don't worry, it's possible that Alan's hair isn't actually short, it's just heat-frizzled. If someone could get some conditioner over there and start the lather-rinse-repeat-as-needed process...SOON! I mean, are we or are we not PWAOWAH? His mental state is another matter entirely...he may be permanently scarred by the hairdryer incident...he's started to sing warbling little snatches of the theme from "Hair," interspersed with bits of "Smoke on the Water" and some heart-wrenching sobbing noises.~~~~~~~I hope, for his sake, that Sean isn't under those bleachers. Last I saw, Darrell had freed himself from the aggressive nurses and was staggering in that direction, looking...um, unwell. The trail of blood leads right up to the bleachers and stops....and when last seen Bob was hobbling, in Quasi Modo fashion, away from the knee-seekers, when he was suddenly overcome by a huge sneeze, and CLUNK! He took out our replacement goalpost. Geez, this shoot is getting EXPENSIVE, not to mention messy.
Cheechi at 1:3:39 Monday September 6 99
Okay, who put their car infront of the port-a-can door? Not that I wasn't already in a bad mood. Well, after popping the roof of the can, I had a little trouble climbing out. It was actually a bigger drop then I expected ... it's a good thing Sean broke my fall! He wasn't supposed to be in the shoot was he? Cause I caught him running for the bleechers with one of my cokes. Anyway, I've hired a few paramedics incase any blood is spilled ... at least the guys are in good hands. Hey, who left the PEPSI here?! And, is that Alan with SHORT hair?! I'm sorry for changing attitudes here, but the boy is not going to live much longer ... because I'm gonna kill him. Are these Bob's pants? They look like they've been snipped to shreds. Oh that's it, those nurse-paramedics are fired! Hey bimbo with the white thang! Stop straddling Darrell! *PUNCH* Personal note to self: 52 cokes before a video shoot is 52 cokes to many.
also nameless ;) at 22:26:44 Sunday September 5 99
oh, dear. you mean that wasn't séan in the past 20 takes of the goalpost scene?! i've heard of stunt doubles, but this is a lil silly. c'mon, be a man, séan! :) you get up there and give that goalpost what-for! if the rest of us are workin, you have to be, too! none of this hiding-under-the-bleachers-eating-a-cheese-dog-and-drinkin-sprite business! where'd bob go, i think i need to have a talk with him about this encouraging of breaks. ;)
Hap at 22:5:48 Sunday September 5 99
I think Alan's slightly "out of it" look might have something to do with the fact that the electrical shock blew the contact lenses clean out of his, ahem, sockets. He tried putting his glasses on, but he didn't seem anymore, er, focused. Just whose glasses did Darrell duct-tape anyway? I mean, he *was* bumping into things before the balls went flying, *and* he's been nauseous. Are we sure he's just squeamish? ~~~ Ummm...ladies? It's been five minutes and that pile-up at the goal-post still isn't moving. Even the extras on top are looking sluggish. Are we sure Séan's even under there? Once the faces start to swell up, it's hard to tell one striped shirt from another. I only ask because Bob just rolled a can of Sprite and a cheese dog under the bleachers.
Teddy at 21:43:6 Sunday September 5 99
Update on the other guys??? Well, the last time I saw Bob, he was doing a rather good DIY job on knee protectors from Cheechi's leftover bubblewrap and duck tape while she's stuck in the loo, looks like an arthritic chicken now. The constant sneezing isn't helping the walk any, either. I think he's well on the way to developing "Sensitive Knee Syndrome" (SKS for short). Darrell also got at the duck tape to mend his glasses, which was the best thing to do, 'cause now he can't see any of the bloodshed. He's currently rummaging like mad through the leftover padding, mumbling "the noise, the noise!", looking for something to stuff in his ears.... hasn't sussed that it would be easier if he took his now-opaque specs off for a minute..... MIND THE SCISSORS, DARRELL!!! ~~~~~~~ oops. Too late. Plasters, anyone?~~~~~~~~~~ Alan's still in the shade, he's looking a little out of it between the repeated concussions and having his brains fried out by some overenthusiatic hairdresser..... what hair he had left to dress is looking rather - er - bouffant. ~~~~~~ BTW, whoever thought to park their car in front of the Porta-loo, GOOD WORK! Shell be in there for a while ;o)
Dr. T at 21:5:44 Sunday September 5 99
THUNK! Ooooh, that had to hurt. But he was looking off in the wrong direction, so let's try it again. THUNK! Bad facial expression on that one. OK, I'm with Trish, let's just keep the camera rolling and try five or six takes in succession, no cuts. "Quit wimpering, man, the camera's rolling!" OK...THUNK! Good, again...THUNK...THUNK....Any updates on the rest of the band?...THUNK...THUNK...Could I get a little coffee over here?....THUNK...THUNK....
TrishQ AKA nameless at 16:15:24 Sunday September 5 99
Awright! Good idea! Lets film the Sean meets the goalpost scene quickly...I see Cheechi has consumed so much Coke that she's has her name tattooed on that port-a-potty over there! C'mon Sean! Let's go for a little more realism here....THUNK! Not bad, not bad...Ummmm..PROPS!!! We nedd another goalpost.....'Kay, TAKE 59!!! We're rollin...
Dr. T at 15:51:53 Sunday September 5 99
We'd just managed to get some shorts on them...though getting them INTO their pants seemed a bit backward to some of the female members of the crew who shall remain nameless...when confusion broke out as to which scene was being shot, and who exactly was supposed to get the ball to the head. For several seconds there the majority of the crew just started pelting the poor boys with all manner of gameballs...footballs, volleyballs, oh lord not the baseballs!....Now Darrell's glasses are broken and the dizziness seems to be contributing to his nausea, plus he's bumping into things...Bob is sneezing uncontrollably from that dip in the lake, and we had to remove a rather nasty leech that was sucking on his knee...oh, wait, sorry, that was one of the crew...and when we tried to blow-dry Alan's damp hair, there was an unfortunate electrical incident...Sean seems to be in working order, though. Should we give him a run at the post now? I'm not the director, but can I yell: "ACTION!"?
Hap at 14:32:37 Sunday September 5 99
Well, the Littlest Disciple may be pleased with Alan's choice of water sport, but he's terribly disgruntled about the lack of pants. Didn't I call for wardrobe? Honestly, what've we got here, a skeleton crew? How am I supposed to work under these conditions? *grunt* Well, we'll just have to borrow shorts from a few of the extras, just remind 'em to stay seated in the "wild cheering" shots. ~~~ Now, the boys are gonna' need disinfectant baths, immunization shots and another check up next week. Dunno' what the Soda Pop Queen was going on about with Cape Spear, that's Lake Ontario in the background in this clip, and it's NOT fit for swimming in. What's she trying to do, kill them? Slowly and painfully? God, let's just hope they didn't swallow anything. TAKE SIXTY!
Teddy at 9:52:11 Sunday September 5 99
WOOOH! Okay, okay, I only did the legs. Who went upwards with the scissors? They're supposed to be wearing SOME of their shorts, at least! For god's sake someone, at least allow them a loincloth...... Still, they're nice and cool now, and at least the distraction value means we won't actually be able to HIT them so often. Does Cheechi know what she's missing here? UP with that ball, people, we're not aiming for Bee Gees here!!! ~~~~~~~~ Oh, Cheechi? Good idea about the inner-helmet fans. I always wondered what Alan would look like with short hair.....
Mich at 5:19:42 Sunday September 5 99
Alright, let's get this in the next couple of takes while Cheechi's distracted! It should only take a minute or two to get that soaking wet foam padding off (and we'd better call for a blow-dryer or Alan's hair flip may look more like a hair flop! Should please the Littlest Disciple though with Alan copying their water game --- "Hey, Alan's copying me!")~~~~~TAKE FIFTY-TWO!!!! (we have to be at least that high by now!)
Cheechi at 4:7:11 Sunday September 5 99
Soda? As In Coke? *runs towards the drink table, skids to a halt and starts downing bottles of coke* I may be distracted for the next few takes...
spinne at 3:38:44 Sunday September 5 99
heehee - having seen a few decoupage pieces for sale at an antique furnishing store i used to work at, i can say that that hose ain't gonna do SQUAT! :) *grabs some popcorn out of the warmer, fills an employee cup with soda* ~~~~ ready, folks? action! :)
Cheechi at 3:8:28 Sunday September 5 99
That was meant to say "hand HELD fans" not help... you know it's late when...
Cheechi at 3:7:10 Sunday September 5 99
Oh silly me, forgot about the heat ... runs off and comes back driving a crane. Cheechi ties all four guys, in their foam and duck tape, to the crane, drives to the edge of Cape Speare and dunks them all in the water. They come out dripping wet and feeling VERY weighed down, considering the fact that their foam has absorbs huge amounts of water. Then, Cheechi takes four little hand help fans, attaches them to the inside of the hockey helmets and starts the fans a-whirring. "Now don't bump your heads too much or you may end up with fan blade nicks on your faces, and we wouldn't want that, now would we" she warns. Then she takes a hose and washes all that coating stuff of the nice soft ball. Now, to do something about those metal goalie posts...
Hap at 21:21:40 Saturday September 4 99
Oh sure, Cheechi, SUFFOCATE them, why don't you? It's bloody hot out here, and you're wrapping them in plastic?! Good God in Heaven, if they aren't smothered first, they'll be dropping dead from dehydration and heat exhaustion! Have a heart, girl! ~~~ Okay, okay, this is good. Lovely bit of scissoring there, Teddy. At least they're mobile now. Drenched in sweat and gasping for breath, but mobile. Now, who's on laundry detail? We need fresh kits for all of 'em, a lemon for Sean to suck on (get those lips down to regulation size), a wet-nap for Bob's knees, some ginko biloba for Darrell, a cold compress for Alan's nose (some flesh-toned make-up wouldn't hurt either) and, what the heck, ice cream for everybody. And THEN I think we're ready to try the goal-post shot again. Has Sean got the ball? Are the big hairy extras ready?
Dr. T at 5:37:10 Saturday September 4 99
What exactly constitutes permanent damage? Alan seems to have developed a slight drooling problem, but we haven't ascertained whether it's due to brain damage, or if he sprained a lip when the resuscitation process got out of control....In other lip news, I've called in the requested M.D. to take a look at Sean's pucker...it was the least I could do...though we're trying to discourage him from getting those Mick Jaggerish collagen treatments. Teddy, I have some decoupage medium that dries to a nice, hard lacquer finish...if we coated the ball with that we could be back in business in no time. So whose turn is it with the ball? And who's got the scissors? Just remember not to RUN with them! We're not filming Vlad the Impaler, here!
Cheechi at 5:17:13 Saturday September 4 99
Forgot to mention... Alan, Darrell and Bob are soon gonna join him *evil laugh*
Cheechi at 5:15:44 Saturday September 4 99
That's right, no permanent damage to da b'ys ... hey wait a minute, we're standing around here worying about permanent damage to da b'ys and nobody is worrying about the permanet damage ya'll have done to your Phobic Phil O'Sopher, Scibner and Keeper of Proximic Garments previously inflicted just joking around about it ... boy, do I feel loved. *puoty face* Well, don't mind me, I'm just gonna go secure more foam around Sean's feet ... "Sit down before you fall down, you squirmy thing you" she tells Sean as he falls over onto his back squirming and wiggling like a fish out of water. But despite his protests, soon Sean is fitted for a pair of foam and duck tape shoes. ~~~~~ Does everyone remember those baloon house things, where you take off your shoes and bounce around for a while? That's what Sean looks like now *giggle*
Mich at 4:19:55 Saturday September 4 99
Just adding in a quick and totally unrelated note for the Canadian Teletubbie obsessed people here. I've just had a sneak peak at the Sears Christmas Wish Book (it's officially being released on Tuesday, Sept. 7) and there is LOTS of Teletubby stuff. Like I said, totally unrelated, but I couldn't help warning you. ~~~~~~ now back to the filming and remember NO PERMANENT DAMAGE TO OUR B'YS!!!
Cheechi at 2:53:44 Saturday September 4 99
TEDDY! (scolding voice) I hope you realize that in the classical era, all male choirs were popular and most aged men didn't have the soprano type voice. In order to acheive this, males have to be "de-masculinized" (if y'know what I mean) at puberty in order to keep their high pitched voice. Somehow, thinking of Sean that way is making me extremely nervous and frightened. I think I'm gonna cry. ~~~~~ And, for God's sake, don't nobody start poking my boys with sharp scissors! or I WILL turn into the terminator and start blowin all yer brains out...
Teddy at 22:8:13 Friday September 3 99
Hey, I got some steel shot somewheres here, that I use for stabilizing stand-up teddys.... wonder if it works in playschool balls???? *stuffing madly* ~~~~~~~~ Thanks, Cheechi, it makes them so much easier to hit when they can't run! ~~~~~~~~~ Now we know where the idea for the Consequence Free video came from ~~~~~~~~~~ Jane, Spinne, wanna borrow my VERY sharp scissors so you can get back to worshipping the knees? ~~~~~~~~~~~ Cheechi: don'tcha worry, they can make a good living from this - Tom made a million; Jerry's a pauper ;o) Besides, like cartoon characters, the b'ys just pop right back up - er, into shape ;o) Reconstructive surgery works wonders these days. And Séan can sing higher harmonies than ever before......
spinne at 21:38:5 Friday September 3 99
ah, come on, now... you know what they say: "pain is temporary, and glory is forever." :) o'course, i don't know exactly how much glory there is in gettin slammed in the head with a ball and falling over during a video shoot...
Cheechi at 21:26:56 Friday September 3 99
I'm sorry, am I the only one here who thinks Alan, Sean, Darrell and Bob are as precious as really expensive, really beautiful crystal vases and should be handled very carefully (don't take that the wrong way)? Am I the only one here who thinks that they are like your mother's irreplacable Elvis statue and you'd be grounded for life if you broke it? GBS is not meant to be BROKEN! (I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scream)
spinne at 21:13:43 Friday September 3 99
mahn, cheechi, you're no fun! you've just turned this rugby game into american football!! *pout* ~~ and what's this about me violating bob's knees? 0:) i'd *never* do a thing like that...
Cheechi at 20:37:43 Friday September 3 99
You do realize I've got mental images now ... *tries to slap you all silly* You know on Warner Bros. cartoons, when Sylvester tries to go through that back yard full of dogs to get to Tweety, and the gate shakes and all you hear is the dogs and Sylvester screaming? And you know what he looks like when he comes back out? All full of blood and his fur coming off and a black eye, etc, etc? That's pretty much the mental picture I have now, except it's not Sylvester it's ... it's ... ALAN! *BIG SOB* and DARRELL! *BIGGER SOB* and SEAN too! *EVEN BIGGER SOB* and BOB! *Breaks down, crying hysterically* ... you see what you've all done to me? Okay, that's it, I've had enough ... Cheechi takes HUGE pieces of foam and bubble wrap, and duck tape and proceeds to wrap all four guys in foam and bubble wrap ... they now look like snowmen and are waddling around like ducks trying to escape. "No wait, get back here!" Cheechi scolds them, and plasters big hockey helmets on their heads. "There" she says, proud of her work, "NOW you can go play rugby ... oh wait!" Cheechi then swipes the rugby ball away from Teddy, and hands her one of those big round foam balls used in elementary school. "That's better." Cheechi smiles a big smile, hoping her plan worked and the guys won't get hurt anymore.
Cheechi at 20:29:4 Friday September 3 99
TrishQ at 20:16:20 Friday September 3 99
Jeez, this shoot is shot all ta h*ll! Darrell is lying over there underneath that tree high on gravol! Just how many did you give him, Teddy? And call the Great Big plastic surgeon as I think Dr. T did permanent damage to Sean's lips when she rather forcefully pulled him off of Alan. Bob keeps clutching at my sleeve babbling something about Jane and Spinne violating his knees. And look at poor Alan over there- Hap!!! Did I not say at the beginnng of this shoot- try NOT to cause any brain damage?!?
Dr. T at 18:9:36 Friday September 3 99
Darrell's going to be fine, just nobody, NOBODY offer him a "wafer thin mint"! Who's on cleanup detail for this shoot, anyway? Permit me to yell: Not it! OK, I think it's my TURN to throw the ball. It's kind of hard to get the aim right with Alan weaving around so much..."Geez, suck it up and stand still!"...here we go....
spinne at 8:16:0 Friday September 3 99
hahahaha!!! \O/ what i do?! *exudes innocence* just don't let em hang around concession while i'm on duty, and they'll be a-ok. ;) poor beefcakes, OTOH, had to learn the hard way. :) ~~ when do i get a turn with the ball-tossing? 0:)
Hap at 5:20:56 Friday September 3 99
All right, all right, that's quite enough molly-coddling. You hold up two fingers, he sees four, he's well enough for another take. This is rugby, people! You're not playing unless you're bleeding! Remember, it's authenticity we're after! And a clean shirt. Authenticity's one thing, but we don't wanna' end up on "Too Much For MUCH." Er, on that note, can somebody pull Séan off of him - NOW! All right, who's next on the ball? Wait, wait, wait: Who keeps kissing Bob's knees? He hasn't even got a boo-boo! No, Spinne, wait, no, that wasn't a complaint, it was just an observation - don't you be getting any ideas...
TrishQ at 2:8:9 Friday September 3 99
Here I am in the line-UP for mouth to mouth duty behind Dr. T and Sean." Dammit, fella, move along, let a girl have a go at him, will ya!?"...."Make-UP!!! We need a touch-UP on Bob's lipstick...on his KNEES of course...oh and would someone puhleeease get Darrell some gravol?!"
Dr. T at 0:41:58 Friday September 3 99
My turn, my turn! OK, I can wait until Alan wakes up and the bleeding is under control...can you put a tourniquet on someone's nose without asphyxiating them?...but THEN it's my turn to throw the ball. Though I suppose TAKE 30 will have to wait for all those volunteers lining up to give Alan mouth to mouth resuscitation....Where's that line forming? Oh, I see, right behind Sean. "Hey, no tongues, bud!"
Teddy at 21:0:11 Thursday September 2 99
Oh, blimey! Can't you tell that Jane's back! Girl, being the Keeper of Bob's Knees does NOT mean you have to literally KEEP them! (reminds me of a line in a Kevin Costner film... "Hey! You got lipstick on my dog!") ~~~~~~ Er, Alan's not moving.... where's the stretcher crew? And I didn't know the sight of blood made Darrell nauseous... we may need a large bucket, too....... ;o) Of course, Alan wouldn't have stood up at the wrong moment if Séan hadn't pinched his but.......
Hap at 20:16:17 Thursday September 2 99
No, no, no, you're doing it all wrong. Here, gimme' the ball. Everyone back to first position!! Okay, what ya' wanna' do is bounce a glancing blow up near the top of the head, that way you get lots of hair movement, a nice big "POOOFFT." Like this...Dammit, he stood up at the last minute. It wasn't my fault!! Who's got the cotton wool, we've got a nosebleed! Oh good grief, is that lipstick on Bob's knee?
TrishQ at 18:10:32 Thursday September 2 99
OK- handing the ball first to Teddy and then to Dr. T (Cheechi- don't look!) Now remember girls- hard enough to look real but but no brain damage 'kay?...TAKE 28!!!
Teddy at 17:19:43 Thursday September 2 99
it shows your commitment, when you start actually turning into the website, instead of tuning into it! BTW, anyone loses any of my sites, try an Altavista search on GBS UK or PWAOWAH - they both turn up!~~~~~~~~~~~~ Me next for the ball, pleeeease?????
Dr. T at 16:19:47 Thursday September 2 99
OK, I've been *TO* this site a bazillion times. I don't think I've ever actually BECOME the PWAOWAH site yet...we'll leave that for the junior disciples.
Dr. T at 16:13:38 Thursday September 2 99
Spinne, if you're a cold, heartless beast then I'm right there with ya! That story was toooo funny! And after reading Trish's post, now I'm thinking, "Gee, I wonder who got to throw the ball? Decent job!!" New contest for _Tiger Beat_: Win a Chance to Bean Alan with A Football!~~~~~~~OK, one of my new colleagues just came in to introduce herself and her eye kept wandering over to my computer, with PWAOWAH screen in full glory. Excuse me while I die of embarassment! At least I didn't have anything from Jakey's Gallery on display! Oh, and Teddy, I've actually been this site a bazillion times, and when I just tried to check it at work and couldn't remember the address, it took me FOREVER to find it by searching. Maybe that can be a small comfort to you. Of course, I'm more computer illiterate than many. Have a good day, all!
TrishQ at 14:43:44 Thursday September 2 99
hmmmm, just re-read Teddy's post below. Notice she said, "POSSIBLY not....">:-)
TrishQ at 14:39:30 Thursday September 2 99
Hey, Cheechi (our resident pacifist)- make love not war, eh? Peace, girl! Count me in on the kissing the boo-boos (get your mind outta the gutter, Teddy- that was Spinne talkin' 'bout hittin' the guy down THERE! >:-)) from the BIG bad video shoot! PS-LOL@ Spinne (Cheechi-don't read)- " 'K Alan let's just try it one more time- who wants to chuck the ball at his head this time?.......... TAKE 27!!!
Teddy at 12:47:10 Thursday September 2 99
Cheechi: kiss them WHERE????? Possibly not.~~~~~~~~ Spinne: that's nasty, on purpose or not! I unintentionally kicked some guy there during one karate class ..... took him ten minutes to catch his breath. Him & four juniors got me back when we played Bulldog next - dragged me down and bounced on me. I knew they were coming, but I couldn't do anything about it! Ouch.
spinne at 4:0:48 Thursday September 2 99
LOL!! sorry, cheechi.. i'm not laughing -at- you, i'm laughing -with- you. ("but i'm not laughing," you say. well, you should be! ;)) ~~ good slapstick will always get me laughin, i'll be the first to admit it. don't matter who's on the receiving end, either. :) just last night at the theater, i was workin concession when i accidentally whacked my cow-orker rob in the 'nads with the popcorn warmer door. he was a lil less than pleased, but i almost fell over laughing. :) the look on his face STILL cracks me up! i apologized up and down, because it really wasn't my intention, but DAMN that was funny. so you see, laughing at alan get beaned by a ball and bob falling over on several occasions is really quite innocent, compared to poor rob's situation. :) then again, i might just be a cold, heartless beast. ;)
Cheechi at 22:37:2 Wednesday September 1 99
You know, I never really grasped on to the fact that all you people are incrediblly MEAN and OUT OF YOUR MINDS! How can you all be so cruel, finding amusment in an injured GBS member? You are all sick and twisted, and I'm ashamed of you ... tsk, tsk, tsk ... isn't there even the tiniest part of you that just wants to kiss their boo-boos all better and hug and cuddle them when they get hurt? Of course, you're talking to the girl who wishes everyone had a bubble to live in so injuries wouldn't happen. Anyway, I'm done scolding all of you now, so you can all be my friends again :)
spinne at 19:8:22 Wednesday September 1 99
hey christine, HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME! and bring me back cool toys. (yes, postcards count!) ;) and don't forget about those november canada dates...! :)
Krysia at 18:34:16 Wednesday September 1 99
Whew! You guys have been busy in the last day or so. Hey, in case I don't have time to really check in tomorrow, I hope everyone has a great week+. I'm off to NS and NF Friday AM, so I'll be out of touch until the 14th (yes, 11 full day!). Save me or e-mail any AYM or BTB or other fun stuff that happens when I'm gone, would you? Anyone want postcards, e-mail me your address (before tomorrow night). Spinne, your's is already in my address book! Cheers!
Teddy at 18:0:31 Wednesday September 1 99
OK, I'm paranoid and stuffed already! Hi, b'ys! ~~~~~~~~~ You know, I forgot just how much happened in the Ordinary Day video! Gotta go back and watch it again tonight. Another thing - I just wish the camera had stayed put for another 30 seconds in the video for When I'm Up, as Bob falls backwards.... I get a feeling we would have seen one almighty set of dominoes ;o) But I get the feeling someone fell off the ledge, and gave the game away..... erminds me of when I was a flying monkey in the Wizard Of Oz, in the school hall, and kinda lost my grips on the gym rope..... you know it's really hard for the Tin Man to get up again when they're covered head to foot in cardboard boxes and foil. The Cowardly Lion, on the other hand, was up and at me in seconds. ~~~~~~~~~~~ and though I've never seen it, from Hap's description, I keep imagining Bob walking face first into that mike with an amplified *THUCK!* ;o) Yes, I think we're all definitely sadists. Why else would we be planning to throw underwear at these poor innocent boys???
Anon at 17:35:13 Wednesday September 1 99
Hee hee. You should have seen me in the community theatre, directing those teenagers. "Just fall backwards! None of this falling on your butt first and just flopping over from there! I wanna' see a Nestea plunge here, I don't care if there's no pool!" ~~~ I do get a giggle out of the ball to the head, mostly because of the look on his face beforehand, that "Oh man, this is BRUTAL" face - and then along comes the ball to say, "Buddy, you don't KNOW from 'brutal.'" The follow-up only disappoints (ever-so-slightly) because it's obvious the ball isn't quite up to regulation weight - it doesn't "BONK" so much as "biff" - so he needs to crumple immediately upon impact in order to fully create the illusion. He does a lovely job for a non-actor, though. Maybe he was going for a brief second of "stunned" before falling. ~~~ Oh, the pushing and shoving is always entertaining, especially during the "Run Runaway" fadeout, where Séan and Alan seem to be "fighting" eachother for camera time: "Outta' the way, you!" PUSH "Hey, *I* was in that shot!" SHOVE "Only because you were blocking the view of ME!" JOSTLE ELBOW BOOT
Dr. T at 16:52:55 Wednesday September 1 99
I can just see you guys directing these videos (which I haven't seen): THUD! "Sorry, we didn't quite get the angle, could you try that again?" THUD! "Nope, too much delay in the fall time, try it again." THUD! "The expression isn't quite what we're looking for, one more time please." THUD! "We're going for realism, here. Again." THUD! Pause. "Everybody take five. When he "comes to" we'll resume shooting."
TrishQ at 15:27:8 Wednesday September 1 99
Yup, count me in the sadist group. My fav video is still Ordinary Day. ITA with Hap on those classic (painful?) scenes. Altho' I must admit to BIG giggling at the Ball To Alan's Head shot! Other fav scenes are: Darrel's stunned look in CF, anything involving Alan falling down, pushng and shoving, Sean's demonic faces in CF and of course the patented Frenetic Alan Hair Flip! Here's a tip discovered by my ten-year-old daughter: watch the 1st close-UP FAHF in CF in slo-mo - verrrry scary!!! Kinda looks like A is having a seizure! Yup, gotta conclude that I enjoy any video where da b'ys get hurt (not badly tho'- a broken rib?- OUCH!- that's dedication to one's art!) I'm a sucker for GBS slapstick humour every time! :-)
Hap at 14:5:32 Wednesday September 1 99
"BAP", "WHAM" and "THUMP" moments? Ooh, I gotta's go with Séan's collision with the goal-post in "Ordinary Day," then. That one's a classic. It's the look on his face that makes the shot, that triumphant "we are the champions" grin on his face in the seconds before impact. "Get a load of meeee!!!" - CLONK! Oh, his belly-flop goal towards the end is quite lovely as well. (Didn't I read somewhere that one of 'em broke a rib on this shoot? Gee, I wonder who...) The ball-to-the-head is nice, but a good stunt director will tell you Alan hesitates too long before falling, he doesn't go down quite fast enough...What can I say? Perfectionist or sadist, if *I* were directing it, I'd have made him do it again. Full marks for the grimace he comes up with after Séan gets face-checked off the ball. Excellent, excellent reaction shot.
Mich at 5:32:24 Wednesday September 1 99
Hmmm, three sadists in the group here, I guess! Yep, you gotta love the "Bap!", "Wham!" and "Thump!" incidents (suddenly sounding like a Batman episode "POW!")~~~~Definitely time for a nap! 8)
spinne at 5:30:0 Wednesday September 1 99
ahhhh... still basking in the glow of my monitor. :) YES, withdrawal really DOES suck ass! soooo good to be back. | ) haha... dr. t, i don't think fran edited that part out... pretty sure i saw it. o'course, now i have to double-check. :) heehee - "BTW, Teddy, your gallery has given me all kinds of ideas...be prepared for email sometime, eh?" ~~ i don't mind my name bein stuck in that msg - no references to anything like the Gallery. ;) keep ya' hands clean, that's what i always say. ;) ~~ alex, i have NO idea what they're doing in that picture on the opening page. not even any ideas. :) as far as the "favorite part of a GBS video" goes, i -always- laugh at alan gettin whacked in the head with that ball, and when he completely blanks in the EOTW video. :) and when bob falls over in consequence free, and darrell gets clotheslined.. and.. and.. nm, i give up. i can't pick a favorite. :) haha i like any segment where you can yell out "BAP!!!" and have it fit perfectly, i guess. :)
Mich at 5:29:59 Wednesday September 1 99
Yes, Teddy, you probably ARE the only one worried about teh b'ys finding this site off the SouthPark photo. They probably already found it via the Kitchen. Just how many times has the link been posted for the Eternal Kitchen Party, with the note at the bottom telling them to "Click here if no frames are visible", or something like that (hey it's late at night and I have school orientation tomorrow. I'm like a little kid! So excited about the first day of school I can't even think about sleeping! Think I'll follow Hap's idea with only posting here and not trying to seem "with it" in the Kitchen.)???? ~~~~~~~I've just realized that the topic in here has come full circle since my arrival. Seems to me my first post was about how easily the guys could find this place and are probably already lurking. Funny I should remember that considering I don't remember most things! Must improve my sieve-like memory!!!!!!~~~~~Now off to the Kitchen for a quick Lurk before bed!
Hap at 5:11:23 Wednesday September 1 99
Hey all! Just in after a 14-hour day at work, seemed more sensible to do a fly-by post in here than to even attempt to look "with it" in the Kitchen. ~~~ B's mum has September 24th circled on her calendar: "GBS Tickets On Sale." So, for anyone looking for an added incentive to make the trip to TO, the Youngest Disciple will be there (with his pants). Oh, "You're welcome!" for the tidbits there, Teddy. Just this afternoon, B. and his brother were speculating on Alan's precarious position "up there" and wondered if he might be stuck on a swing (um, we were at the park at the time). Images of a demonic playground swirling through my brain now, with that unfortunate boy trapped on the merry-go-round, and Alan swinging his way to oblivion. (Makes manoeuvering that ladder a much trickier proposition, I must say.) ~~~ Glad to put your mind at ease there, Alex. Oh, and I'm with Spinne: Whatever else we do, we're putting you in charge of the Great Big Apiary.
Dr. T at 4:28:29 Wednesday September 1 99
Hey everyone! Nothing major to say, just wanted to swing through and say "Hi!"~~~~~~~~Teddy, Fran seems like a smart cookie...maybe she edited out the Jakey's Gallery/PWAOWAH reference. If not, where are we going to hang out and talk about bra throwing from now on? :-) 'Night all!
Alex at 0:47:3 Wednesday September 1 99
By the end of this post it'll be clear that tonight I've nothing to do and I'm just surfing around trying to give an answer to some of the silliest questions I could think about! And one of this quetion is: what are the guys doing in the Pwaowah front page photo? Is Alan kneeling down at The Fallen One, or is The Fallen One worshipping the God washing His hair with some Holy water?...Good night :))
Alex at 0:3:39 Wednesday September 1 99
Hi Spinne, happy to see you back!Thanks HAp for making me feel better....I'm not completely out of my mind...;))...you know you're GBS addicted when you see them duplicating ;))...
Teddy at 22:46:49 Tuesday August 31 99
Hi, Spinne! Withdrawal's a bitch, isn't it???? ~~~~~ Nun puppet??? I gotta watch that again..... my fave Alan moment is when he gets whacked in the head with the football in Ordinary Day ;o) Am I a sadist or what??? didn't seem to do the hair any harm, though..... ~~~~~~ Hap, thanks for the Youngest Disciple bit - I'll type it in as soon as work slows down a little - this one's gonna be sickeningly cute ;o) ~~~~~~~~~~ and am I the only one worried that the b'ys actually signed a printout of that South Park pic that had a mention of Jakey's Gallery on it??? With mine and Spinne's names attached???? If they didn't know before, they're looking now....... Oh, and 'that other' pic? Goin' nowhere, baby ;o) Gone already, as a matter of fact. Just in case.
spinne at 7:47:41 Tuesday August 31 99
ohhh my, it's good to be back! alex, i think you should be the Beekeeper. :) that's just my opinion, though... it's late and i'm tired. *grin*
Hap at 2:36:43 Tuesday August 31 99
No real nun, Alex, but there is a nun PUPPET (or toy of some description) in the video that takes a few swipes at Alan's head. And there's a lot of weird split-frame/double-vision type stuff going on in the clip, so you ARE seeing five or more of them from time to time. Which is not to say you're not completely nuts, but the video "hallucinations" you describe are not symptomatic of that. :)
Alex at 23:39:48 Monday August 30 99
I know.....*sigh*.....anyway, I rechecked the video and the "nun" doesn't look like Sean and some shots later the guys are 5.......mystery ;)))
Ciao
Teddy at 18:21:51 Monday August 30 99
Jeez, Alex, you're hallucinating even more than me! No, no nuns, but if I remember right, Sean pulls the back of his sweatshirt over his head...... gotta go check now. Still working on a name. Didn't get drunk, as I had to work all weekend on our Annual Report. Back to 'normal' tomorrow. God, I know the printer's gonna pick the file up, and then say it's corrupt or something......... gonna go play Old Brown's Daughter and try for a family tree ;o)
Alex at 23:5:52 Sunday August 29 99
I'm still raving about Eotw video: is there anybody dresses or disguised like a nun in the video, or it's just me???? Guess I need a doctor.....;))
Alex at 22:48:48 Sunday August 29 99
Folks I have a confession: today, for the first time I saw the video of "End of the world..." and I felt really silly ;). For months I've been watching the little picture of the video in Mike's site, being unable to download it. And watching that picture I've always thought the video "environment" was a space rocket!!!!!!......no comment please......
Ciao
Hap at 22:41:23 Sunday August 29 99
Hey, now why would anyone "hate" to echo me? ;) Good Lord, yet another use for vinegar. ~~~ I see we're no farther ahead on the new name for Alex? KEEP DRINKING, TEDDY! Even if you don't think of something, you just might scare Alex into dreaming up something for herself. ~~~ Krysia, I can't speak for the rest of the venues, but Massey Hall isn't an arena, exactly, but a right and proper Concert Hall, the larger of the two venues used by the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The acoustics are marvelous, especially in the balcony and gallery (balcony seats are the top-price seats for TSO performances). The prospect of just HEARING the band in this venue is enough to put me over the moon. The dancing won't be great, but I doubt "Old Brown's Daughter" will ever again sound as good as it does in there.
Teddy at 9:2:15 Saturday August 28 99
Off to work (yes, on a bloomin' Saturday - and Sunday, too. AND it's a Bank Holiday weekend). Alex you should worry...... Cheechi - sympathies! I recently picked my guitar up again after several years of non-playing. You know, I used to take the mickey out of my big sister because she wouldn't cut her nails enough to play..... now I'm the same. Must be genetic. ANYWAY - if you can sit still long enough, dip your fingers in ice-water, it helps the soreness.... and I hate to echo Hap, but vinegar is good to toughen 'em, as is white spirit. Dip, don't drink ;o) laters, people!
Cheechi at 2:36:26 Saturday August 28 99
Internetnophobia (Internet-No-Phobia) - the fear of the Great Big Online Kitchen Party going offline! ~~~~~ only 85 days until I can see GBS again, WaHoo! Of course I'm getting kinda if-y about this whole Civic Center thing ... it should be illegal to have a GBS concert with seats, or at least it should be optional. ~~~~~ Cheers, Cheechi :) ~~~~~ P.S. You don't know how hard and tiring it is to type with one hand, but I have no choise since I killed my other hand playing guitar; my fingers are still in Great Big Pain.
Alex at 23:41:3 Friday August 27 99
I'd say more than serious symptoms!...and I had a look to the tour schedule as well, just to keep on suffering (but you all know I enjoy crying ;)).....take your time to think about a good name, I like all the suggestions given 'til now. Teddy you're scaring me about this name matter, last time you got close to a pub (or was that the Ale festival??) you came out with the Great big Tubbies...
Cheers
Teddy at 21:24:25 Friday August 27 99
Hey, I'm getting serious withdrawal symptoms over here, and I bet Alex is too! The least they could do is an AYM! I've got my eye on that tour journal of theirs, though ;o)~~~~~~~~~~~ Alex: something in charge of TURNs of phrases, I think........ hey, it's the weekend. When I finish work tomorrow, I'll go to the pub. Guaranteed I'll get something appropriate then ;o)
Krysia at 17:25:11 Friday August 27 99
Well, I think you're both right - I had my bets on yesterday. However, today is a travel today, no? So maybe we'll get a 'here I am at the airport' post... you never know! ~~~~~~ Looks like my hopes are dashed for some odds and ends States dates in the Northeast towards the end of the year; I was hoping for another Boston or Portland date! I may just have to start checking out Rand McNally on the Canada dates and harassing Spinne and Fran on roadtrips this fall.... ~~~~~~ The Canada shows are all arena shows, yes? So if I were to go to any, I'd have to probably get tickets right when they go on sale to get decent seats? I'm too spoiled on the US club shows to be way out in the back!~~~~~~ You know, I haven't been to a real arena/civic center type show for any artist in years and years. Now, where's that map?
Hap at 15:8:0 Friday August 27 99
We did! We did go an entire hiatus without a single AYM or B,TB post - or a newsletter. Don't those boys know that your vacation is when you're supposed to get caught up in all that crap. I just hope they got those eaves cleaned out then, and the storm windows up, the screens patched, their rooves thatched, put new washers in the taps to stop the drips and Bob finished whatever it was he was doing with that plywood, or else I'm gonna' be feeling VERY put out. ~~~ Put Alex in charge of the Kleenex? Isn't that a bit like putting a child in charge of the lollipops? ;) She is quite the accidental poet, though, I must say. Those cuddly waves of hers are with me for good. *sigh* Hmmm...her, uh, highly-developed emotive skills could be put to very good use, though. Every religious organization ought to have a professional keener.
Dr. T at 4:2:0 Friday August 27 99
Greetings All! Hey, is it me, or did we go an entire GBS hiatus without one single A,YM or B,TB post? Anyone else feeling neglected? ;-) As for Alex, we don't have a poet laureate yet, do we? I definitely think something related to language and/or poetic phraseology is in order. Plus, she HAS to be in charge of the kleenexes! Sobba cum laude? Best Wishes!
Mich at 3:11:7 Friday August 27 99
Sure, we know you meant to post the censored version of L'il Alan, Teddy. We believe ya 8) Yeah right!! 8) ~~~~~~ Alex, perhaps you should give some info as to fav. songs, interests, etc for those
