  1. 1851 Census - Ramsey, Essex.
  2. 1861 Census - Brite? Vitner? Farm, Ramsey, Essex
  3. 1891 Census - Wix Green, Wix, Essex. It appears that George had only just married Alice (I think that Alice was baptised AVIS) , but she had either been married before or had several children, as there is Alice GANT, aged 10, Ernest GANT, aged 8, Gertrude May GANT, aged 5, all Scholars and all born in Wix. Then there is a child for George and Alice a Victor George BENEWORTH, aged 7 months, born Wix, Essex. There are two lodgers with the family a John DAY aged 59 born Beaumont, Essex and a Frederick DAY, aged 21 also born Beaumont. both are Agricultural Labourer, John is a widower.
  4. 1881 Census - Wix Green, Wix, Essex. Alice GANT is down as married but no husband with her. She is with her grandfather a George LOWE, a Widower, Cowman, aged 74 born Great Oakley, Essex. Her eldest daughter Alice A GANT, down correctly as Granddaughter is aged 15 months and is down as being born in Wix, Essex, as is her mother. I cannot find a marriage of an Alice LOWE to a GANT in the Tendring district.  It is possible she married outside the area.
  5. 1881 Census - There is a Thomas GANT who was born in Woolwich, Kent, but was at Harwich on this Census. He was a Boatswain's Mate on "HMS Penelope", aged 37 (ie born around 1844). There is a death of a Thomas GANT on the BMD in 1886 in the Tendring area Aged 40 so within a couple of years of the Thomas on the 1881 Census. Thomas on the 1881 Census is down as married. I think I have found the right one.
  6. 1901 Census - Wix Green, Wix, Essex. There was a lodger, a Robert HILL, aged 35 an Agricultural Labourer, born Wix, Essex.
  7. 1881 Census - Wix Green, Wix, Essex. George was single, a lodger with Joseph Brooks and family at the Grocers Shop.
  8. Cannot find on the 1871 Census

The idea of these charts is to give the same information that appears in the research we have done and put together in various books. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
