  1. IGI - an entry by a member of the LDS Church states George BOXALL (just like that -no Strudwick as second name shown) was born in 1848 in Hambledon,
  2. 1861 Census - Sandhole, Hambledon, Surrey
  3. 1871 Census - Sandhole, Hambledon, Surrey
  4. 1841 Census - Sandhills, Hambledon, Surrey. William's wife Mary is shown as being 20 on this Census, but she could be older as ages were rounded up or down on this Census. William is down as being 25, John is correct at 6, so if Mary was 20 she would have only been 14 when she had John. The was a John EARL aged 70 and a Thomas EARL aged 20 with the family. The IGI shows a marriage on 9th November 1834 of a Mary EARL to a William BOXALL, so I think this is the correct marriage and that John EARL was her father and Thomas a brother.
  5. 1881 Census - Sandhole, Hambledon Village, Surrey. Hannah is down as Anne on this Census.
  6. 1891 Census - Village Hambledon, Surrey
  7. On Andy Brown's Family Tree on Ancestry.com the parents of William are shown as William born about 1783 Hascombe, Surrey died 13th September 1847 Hambledon, Surrey and Jane AYLING born about 1789 Godalming, Surrey and died about 1830 Hambledon, Surrey. Other than William it shows seven other children
  8. 1841 Census - Hambledon Village, Surrey. Children Mariah, 4 born Surrey and John 1 born Surrey
  9. 1851 Census - Higher Down Heath, Godalming, Surrey. - Children Marie 13 Hascombe, John 11 Hascombe, George 9 ?, Harriett 6 Hascombe, Eli (Jesse) 3 Godalming, Sarah 3 Godalming. (This does not quite match details on Andy BROWN's Website for this family.
  10. 1861 Census - Crown Pitts, Godalming, Surrey (census page has Not in Borough written across it - there are several BOXALL families on the page. Harriet is a widow. Children - Jesse 13, Ag Lab, Sarah 11 Scholar, Lucy 5 Scholar and Henry 2 all born Godalming, Surrey
  11. 1881 Census - Crownpits, Godalming, Surrey. Children Jesse 33 Carter, Henry 22 Under Gardener. All down as being born in Godalming.
  12. 1871 Census - Crownpits, Godalming, Surrey. Children Harriett 21 Servant Cook, Jesse 23 Labourer, Henry 12 Labourer. (All born Godalming). There was a lodger, a Frank Falkner.
  13. 1891 Census - Crownpits, Godalming, Surrey. Jesse and Henry are still at this address and details will shown when I put on BOXALL Chart 0601 but there is no Harriet with them so assume she had died before this Census.
  14. 1841 Census - Thorncombe Street, Bramley, Surrey. Children - Charlotte 4 and Mary (Jane) 2 both born Surrey
  15. 1851 Census - Shalford, Surrey. With a family called KNIGHT. Her daughter Mary Jane aged 12 was with her. Birth place for both put down as Shalford, Surrey, but I think that the Head J KNIGHT has given the details and put down Shalford for everyone.
  16. 1861 Census - I thought that Charlotte NYE might have married again between 1851 and 1861 so I searched for Charlotte NYE in this period and one comes up, but I am certain that this is the Charlotte (her daughter) who appears on the 1841 Census - The interesting thing about it is that she married a Charles DENYER. The DENYER is the surname of the person Charlotte's younger sister Jane married so possibly a connection. There were two children Alfred 2 and John 1. This will show when I put the NYE Chart on. (Forgot to take address - again will look again when I put the Chart on)
  17. Continuing from Note 16 there is a marriage for a Charlotte NYE in June quarter of 1851 and with further research I am sure she married a George WOOLGAR, (there are 8 names listed, so 4 males), but on the 1861 Census there is a Charlotte WOOLGAR, born 1817 in Hascombe, Surrey. Unfortunately she is a widow, and I think if I am correct all the children except the last one must be from a previous marriage of George, as all born before 1851. There are four of them. The one that I think is the daughter of George and Charlotte is Fanny, she was 7 and born in Dunsfold and was a scholar. They were living at Village, Bramley, Surrey/ This is getting a bit complex to put on this Chart, so will continue with later Censuses when I put the chart on the Web.
  18. Cannot find on 1841 Census (now found as DENGER)  - Jane died in 1842. Andy BROWN's tree on Ancestry.com lists Edward DENYER (1839) and George DENYER (1840) as children, but it appears from the information the James DENYER was 15 years older than his wife, so possibly the children were from a previous marriage. There was no George born 1840, he is down as being 73, so I think he is the father of James. I therefore think the information I have found in Note 19 is correct. On this Census Jane is 22, James is 34, Edward 2.
  19. Village, Hambledon, Surrey. There is a James DENYER (born 1811 not 1805) at this address with an Edward who is 11 and a James aged 7 and a Mary aged 3 all born Hambledon, who I would think is the correct James, he has a wife called Harriett,  who is 30 and born in Chiddingfold, Surrey.
  20. 1861 Census - Cross Ways, Witley, Surrey. Children on this Census - George 15 an Ag Lab and Frederick 2 both born Witley, Surrey.
  21. 1851 Census - Wheeler Street, Witley, Surrey. Charles with his son George were visitors with a George and Ann DUKE. I have since found that Ann DUKE maiden name was AVENALL so Charles and son were staying with the sister of his late wife on this Census. Ann had married George in the March quarter of 1846 and is on the same page as Henry BOXALL and Ann UNDERWOOD.
  22. 1881 Census - Cross Ways, Witley, Surrey. Children - (all born Witley, Surrey) Alfred 19 Farm Labourer, William 17 Farm Labourer, Jane 11 Scholar, Ellen 9 Scholar, Albert 4.
  23. 1891 Census - Crossways, Witley, Surrey. Children - (all born Witley, Surrey, except George born Hambledon) In order as they appear - Alfred 27 Agricultural Labourer, George 47 Labourer on Highways, Albert 14 Builders Labourer, Ellen 19 Domestic Servant.
  24. 1901 Census - District Union Workhouse, Hambledon, Surrey
  25. 1871 Census - Crossways, Witley, Surrey. Children - (all born Witley, Surrey) Frederick, 12 Cattle Tender, Alfred 8 Scholar, William 6 Scholar, Jane 1.
  26. 1861 Census - Near the Union, Hambledon, Surrey - Children (all born Hambledon, Surrey) James 12 Brickmaker, William 9 Ag Lab, Ann 7 Scholar, Jane 4 and Hannah 1.
  27. 1851 Census - Hambledon Road, Hambledon, Surrey - Children (all born Hambledon, Surrey) Harriett 7, Charlotte 4, James 2. There were two lodgers with the family.
  28. 1871 Census - Hambledon Road, Hambledon, Surrey - Children (all born Hambledon, Surrey) William 19 Ag Lab, Jane 13 Scholar, Hannah 11 Scholar, Mary F? 9 Scholar, Walter 3. There was also Mary BOXALL, aged 75 a widow, mother to Head of Family, born Wonersh, Surrey with the family.
  29. 1881 Census - Sandhills, Witley, Surrey. Children (both born Hambledon) Jane 23 and Walter 13 a Scholar. There were also two boarders with the family.
  30. 1891 census - Sandhills, Witley, Surrey. (no children with them)
  31. 1901 Census - Sandhills, Witley, Surrey. With Ann was Harriett UNDERWOOD daughter, aged 57 Single, Housekeeper, born Hambledon, Surrey, Mary BOXALL, daughter, 39 Nurse Domestic, born Hambledon, Surrey.
  32. IGI Marriage. Extracted from actual record
  33. IGI Birth date. From date supplied by a member of the LDS
  34. IGI Baptism. Extracted from actual record
  35. IGI Baptism. Extracted from actual record, so I suspect that Note 33 is wrong, also the name on the IGI is David not Daniel, the name Daniel was supplied to me and what was on the IGI birth supplied by a member, I would think that David is more likely to be correct. There is one other child which has the same parents and born in the same period, I have added him to the Chart above and he is shown in Note 36.
  36. IGI Baptism. Extracted from actual records. This gives us another child, but it after the marriage of William and Mary and comes up with these parents in Hambledon, so I think it is one of theirs.
  37. IGI Marriage, Extracted from actual record.

The idea of these charts is to give the same information that appears in the research we have done and put together in various books. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
