  1. 1851 Census - 5 Neale Street, St George, Camberwell, Surrey,  Also living with them was Ann Thomson, Widow, Mother, aged 50 a Laundress, born Bath, Somerset1868 6 Orchard Place, Walworth, Surrey
1870 3 Blendon Row, Walworth, Surrey
1871 Census - 12 Blendon Row (or possibly Orchard Place), Walworth, Newington, London. A Daniel DACKOMBE was boarding with this family on the night of the 1871 Census. I believe this was a brother of Caroline POLTON née DACKOMBE
1874 12 Orb Street, Walworth, Surrey
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1891 Census - Cannot find family on this Census. We now know that there should be at lease Thomas, Caroline, Alfred and Christopher with their father James, but I have tried every alternative I can think of to find them without success. I also now think I have found Caroline's, James's wifes death in 1900 so she should also be on the 1891 Census.
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
The name POULTON was changed in this generation. James POULTON registered his children as POULTON, but by the 1881 census had changed to POLTON, the three certificates we have at present are all POULTON, it is likely, but at the present unknown, if the other children were also registered as POULTON. However by the time of the marriages of Aquilla, Arthur and Thomas they were all using the name POLTON
  2. 1868 6 Orchard Place, Walworth, Surrey
  3. 1871 Census - 12 Blendon Row (or possibly Orchard Place), Walworth, Newington, London. A Daniel DACKOMBE was boarding with this family on the night of the 1871 Census. I believe this was a brother of Caroline POLTON née DACKOMBE
1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London (down as James on the 1881 Census)
    1892 Tabard Street, Bermondsey, London
1892 9 Silverlock Street, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1893 84 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1895 320 Southwark, Park Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1897 40 Raymouth Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
1899 84 Crelon Road, North Camberwell, Surrey
1900 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1901 - 83 Eugenia Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey.
1903 - 180 Rotherhithe, New Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1904 - 9 Bramcote Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1905 - 89 Bramcote Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
  4. At the birth of William POLTON, his father gave his name as William James POLTON, his mothers name being given correctly.
Does not appear on 1871 Census, possibly died therefore
  5.
  6. 1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1901 Census - 20 Parfitt Road, Rotherhithe, London
    1903  - 20 Parfitt Road, Rotherhithe, London
1911 - 14 Anchor Street, Bermondsey, London. There was a John REEDY a lodger aged 55 a Mariner born St Michael's, Limerick with the family, I would think a relation of Arthur Daniel's wife Alice REEDY
  7.
  8. 1881 Census - 2 Louter Place, Newington, London
1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
1905 - 177 Southwark Park Road, Rotherhithe, Surrey
    1908 - 12 Martin Street, Bermondsey, London
    1909 - 36 Alexis Street, Bermondsey, London
1911 Census - 13 Martin Street Bermondsey, London
  9. 1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
    1911 Census - 65 Linsey St S E
1912 20 Enid Street. (Again found marriage certificate, father is down as James, Fishmonger deceased, so again certain correct family.
I have found a marriage for a Caroline POULTON in the correct area, so I think it is correct and then there are four births between 1914 and 1921 where the fathers name is HOAD and the mothers maiden name is POULTON.
  10. 1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
  11. 1901 Census - 17 Leebnams Road, Rotherhithe, London.
    1908 177 Southwark Park Road.
I have found a marriage for a Christopher POULTON in the correct area, so I think it is correct and then there are two births between 1914 and 1924 with a FILLERY was the mothers maiden name. (Have not found marriage certificate is shows father as James POULTON, Fish Curer so certain correct person)

There is a Christopher POLTON born March quarter 1885 in the Camberwell district, London. I cannot find on the 1891 or 1901 census but I do think he is part of this family and was a witness at the marriage  of his "brother" Thomas. After a lot of searching I have found the family on the 1901 Census. This changes this chart quite a bit and proves that Christopher was indeed part of this family. Down on Ancestry.com at TAULTON.

The idea of these charts is to give the same information that appears in the research we have done and put together in various books. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
