  1. The information for 1871 Occupation and Address are taken from the 1871 Census before he was married to Sarah BINGHAM
  2. 1881 Golden Lane Baths, London, Middlesex, Maurice BINGHAM Father In Law W Male 63 Cork City, Ireland Sawyer was also living with them.
  3. Information for Mary given to us by a Linda Smith, she says "registration district was Baths, Middlesex, which seems a bits strange", but I believe that is shows that Mary was born at Golden Lane, Baths where the family were living on the 1881 Census.
  4. Could not find any of this family on the 1891 or 1901 Census, but have now found Jerome Henry PRESS, see note 5.
  5. 1901 16 Hace Walk, Hoxton, Shoreditch, London. Jerome was down as a nephew age 20 living with Thomas Caisse? (Ancestry.com interpretation) Head 45 Boot Finisher born London, St Lukes and Bridget Caisse? Wife 45 born London, St Lukes (RG13/277 Folio 57 Page 41)
  6. 1901 49 Buttesland Street, Hoxton, Shoreditch, London
  7. See note 5, I cannot find a family of Caisse on the 1891 Census, but on the IGI 1881 Census there is Thomas Cane and a Bridget Cane both born in St Lukes, with his occupation a Shoe Finisher, which ties up with his 1901 occupation. They were living at 9 Clarks Place, London, Middlesex, England, with an adopted daughter Jessie DIXON, age 8 born St Lukes, Middlesex occupation Scholar.  I cannot find a Thomas and Bridget Cane either on the 1891 Census. Jerome Press was living with them
  8. BMD Web Site
  9. Father William PRESS, Mother Rachel PRESS
  10. I have found a Jerome PRESS, born 1849 in Shoreditch on the 1861 Census, he is down as a Stepson and this ties up with note 9 above where I have his mother as Rachel. As the father is a Eli WILKINSON age37 a Blacksmith, born Shoreditch, Middlesex, his wife is indeed Rachel, age 36 born Norwich, Norfolk, there children are Benjamin WILKINSON, age 6 a Scholar, born Shoreditch, London, Eli WILKINSON age 4 born Shoreditch, London, Joseph WILKINSON, age 1 born Shoreditch, London. Then the children from Rachel's previous marriage to William PRESS, Jerome PRESS, Stepson, age 11 Scholar, born Shoreditch, London, and Robert PRESS, Stepson, age 9 born Tottenham, London. (at present cannot find on 1851 Census - will add a new Chart for the PRESS family)
  11. I have still not found Jerome on the 1851 Census, but I have found his mother and his brother Robert, see Note 10, Robert is 1 month old and is with his Grandmother a Mary NEAL wife, (No husband at home) she is a Dyer's wife and born in St Martin, Norfolk, they are living at North Row, Tottenham, Middlesex. Roberts mother Rachel (so her maiden name was NEAL) was Rachel PRESS age 27 it still looks like an M for married state not a W and she is down as a Needlewoman, born St Martin, Norfolk. There was also a child of Mary NEAL a Mark NEAL age 22 a Light Porter, also born St Martin, Norfolk. So what had happened to Jerome, I will keep searching.

The idea of these charts is to give the same information that appears in the research we have done and put together in various books. The idea is that you click on the Chart box in blue to be taken to the next family. There is now a large number of charts to be found and connections can be made to all the main families I am researching. If a chart has a box with the standard background it means that as yet I have not put the Chart on the Web.
To conform to the Data Protection Act all the Charts have been altered to exclude all details for living people other than the name.
