The verdict was accidental death. Dr. R. Pearce, pathologist, said Mrs Terry was suffering from advance heart disease as well as arthritis. Mrs Terry’s ribs and breastbone had been broken, but she might have recovered from these injuries if her heart had been sound. The driver of the lorry Alfred Cecil Goff, of Brixton, holder of a first-class driving certificate after 30 years experience said Mrs Terry walked out from between two stationary vehicles. No blame could be attributed to the driver, commented the coroner. Dr C. F. J.
